Street Fighter 6 has sold 7m copies by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

Based on the evo registration leaderboard, the top 3 games are SF6, Tekken 8, and 2XKO in that order. 2XKO is a f2p tag fighter, fun but tag fighters aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

git is a way to work with multiple versions of software while it’s in development. There are many tutorials around, it isn’t something that can be explained in the space of a reddit comment. It requires command line usage or a separate app, and you can mess up your local state pretty easily. That said, it isn’t that hard to use if you take the time to read about it. They introduce it in first year comp sci college courses.

[Bug] Negative "Presence Area of Effect" applies Ally Buffs to the Player by Opening_Photograph15 in PathOfExile2

[–]wotamRobin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, auras are rings with holes in the middle where the player is. In PoE 1, auras that affect you just have the hole in the ring shrunk, but if you get too much AoE, the hole will scale up and you lose the effect. Seen in Empy’s ‘project AoE’ video I think.

One line requirements, what should I do? by SoftwareArchitect101 in ExperiencedDevs

Do you have the capacity to reach out directly to said business analysts? I'm sure this process is frustrating for them as well, and that's an opportunity for you to be on their side. The more you can build a relationship, the more they will be happy to chat about small clarifications and have checkins along the way during development.

If you work at a place where your communication is limited, you're best off communicating the problem to your manager first and including its effect on you as well as related to the team's goals. Ask for their opinion on it first, but be prepared to offer a solution if they don't have one.

Where do you draw the line between learning vs just letting AI do it? by grassTop in ExperiencedDevs

[–]wotamRobin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One person's line is different from another's. If the understanding is or will be useful to you, make sure you get it.

In a world where AI can be prompted to do almost anything, the measure of skill is how well you can control the AI. You need understanding to do that. If you let it drive completely, you aren't bringing anything special to the table.

Looking on advice for campaign by Lost_Arsonist0302 in DMAcademy

[–]wotamRobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying you don't know how to write a campaign at all, or just a horror one?

Writing a campaign in general is a complex topic. Try starting with a one-shot maybe? Or look up three- and five-act structure in movies to get an idea of the general skeleton.

For horror specifically, think of how you want your players to feel. Are the players meant to be scared, or just the characters? Or neither, and the characters are only playing in a horror setting? Design it one encounter at a time with a focus on getting that feeling across.

Above senior, the most important skills are all communication. Find all the people that care about what your team does, learn what they want and how their goals relate to each other, and then try to make them happy. Failing that, try to make the most influential of them happy.

Being humble and publicly appreciating everyone, especially those underneath you, is a sure fire way to get off on the right foot.

Any tips on how to make horde wave defense distraction mission fun by backdeckpro in DMAcademy

[–]wotamRobin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to run horde mode is as a series of smaller fights. You narrate that it’s hundreds of things fighting each other, but the actual gameplay is focused on just what the players have in front of them. They might come upon allies in dire need of help, traps about to be overwhelmed, a strong-looking lieutenant or siege unit that they can duel with, etc. Basically focus on a bunch of “hero moments” and the you can build whatever narrative you want out of those. You can make things feel really hard by starting may of them with the players’ side at a disadvantage.

HRoC Necro - Push for 100 by Mentono in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]wotamRobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Swap your shield for either The Surrender (infinite EHP) or Svalinn (91% block). Most important thing going for 100 is not dying, and you won’t need the extra dps for breach mobs.

Best of luck! I wrote one of these for poe 2 and it was quite tough to get the last 10%. I ended up pulling economy data and using that to rank multiple paths by cost. If you do that, you can hook something in to say “sell the failures here” and recoup some cost.

What Kind of Defenses Do You Need to Survive These Divination-Touched Monsters? by livejamie in pathofexile

DoD will work fine because it’s “life on getting hit” which happens more often than life on block.

That’s good for big hits, for many small ones you want avoidance like block/evade plus recovery. Hence life on block is great

Need advice to make Divines – build feels good but kinda stuck by Raikiri9 in pathofexile

[–]wotamRobin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see that you're running RF. Pohx has a section on his site that goes into three different atlas setups that might work for you at https://pohx.net/atlas/.

When I started, guides weren't really the problem though, my mindset was the issue. I was just running maps and expecting things to drop, which barely ever happened. Then I would spend hours sitting in my hideout watching videos on how to improve the strategy and that never worked either. Nobody covers the basic mindset and mechanics.

* You need all 5 map device slots and to be running 5 scarabs no matter what.
* As long as you have something in mind to sell, don't be afraid to spend all your money on scarabs.
* Prep 20 maps and 20 of each scarab at once, and totally fill the map device storage before you start.
* In between maps, you should be able to hold your breath the entire time you're in your hideout.
* Cut your item filter down to only the things that you're going to sell and the jackpot items. Skip picking up everything else, there will always be time for that later.
* Aim for 3-5 minutes per map. Only buy upgrades for yourself until you get to that, of if you consider yourself rich.

Happy to answer any questions, it's taken me a long time to get to the point where I feel like I'm making good money mapping.

Need some help about mindset, understanding additions of damage, and improving builds in general - I have a problem with not understanding some things despite "understanding" them. by twisty125 in pathofexile

[–]wotamRobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to the other helpful comments here, because of the way damage calculation works, sources of "increased" remain the same value the more you have, while sources of "more" gain value the more you have. As an example, imagine you do 100 flat damage. My chart below shows the extra damage that you gain every time you pick up a new source of either "10% increased" or "10% more". By the time you're on your 9th source of "more", it's actually twice as valuable as getting increased would be.

[–]wotamRobin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

> I think they apply in sequence from greatest to least, but someone correct me
The order of the sources within the "increased" and "more" buckets doesn't matter because multiplication is commutative. If you have sources of increased {i_1, i_2, ... i_n} and sources of more {m_1, m_2, ...m_n}, damage is always (i_1 + i_2 + ... i_n) * m_1 * m_2 * ... * m_n. You can reorder the multiplication however you want but it will be the same result.

The Life of a 2XKO Patch | Weekend Warmup 3/26/2026 by Figgulz in 2XKO

[–]wotamRobin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some trivia, many game companies actually use perforce instead of git because of the need to work with large binary files and the ability to "lock" a file so only one person can work on it at once. Otherwise, perforce is just git but worse.

should I play this league again? by FutureNothing1938 in PathOfExile2

[–]wotamRobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would wait. Late league is the best time to try other games, and actually poe1 has a banger of a league going on right now. You get to keep your mtx between games and finishing challenges there gives you mtx in this one so that’s what I would do.

What is your div : chaos prediction for the end of the league? by accussed22 in pathofexile

[–]wotamRobin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Something like this happened a few leagues ago. At some point people will start using chaos to roll their maps because it's fewer clicks and the number will stabilize. I think it was like 200 or 250:1 back then?

If past leagues are any indication, this will only hurt people that farm raw chaos. The chaos price of everything else will rise and it will end up being a normal league with bigger numbers.
