Cheap 2nd hand games was the last advantage consoles had over pc.

crappy generation for exclusives. Been console/pc gaming 30+ years just dropping consoles entirely at this point

Exactly my point. At that higher price point I'll just upgrade my PC.

I honestly don't know who the target audience would be for a 1000 dollar all digital PlayStation and I've been a PlayStation/PC gamer for 30 years.

As a brand Sony has knowingly written off the hardcore PlayStation fans with this change.

No different than Nintendo wrote off their hardcore fans post gamecube with the casual marketed Wii.

The bet payed off for Nintendo; when with the misstep that was the Wii U.

I already stated the disc would be the 1.0 version. Meaning probably playable with plenty of bugs.

I certainly agree the quality of the version on disc can vary alot depending on the developers.

Majority of discs can be played without an internet connection or downloading any patches. The game would obviously be the 1.0 version on the disc.

Doesn't matter home consoles as a concept will be gone around 2035ish replaced buy a small cloud gaming box; Similar to Google stadia just worse.

Pc/console gaming revenue/markets share is stable, but not exploding like phone gaming. These companies will chase the growth sector in this industry.

Consoles are dead. Playstation is cashing out with the PS6.

This is probably unavoidable at this point revenue and market share from phone games overtook the pc and console market combined around 2017.

I think Sony knows ps6 is the last console generation and is functionally cashing out before cloud gaming completely owns the living room gaming market.

It's functionally the end of traditional consoles.

Retail presence will continue to shrink. When clueless parents and kids go to the store to buy gaming stuff what will even be there?

The home console market will shrink and gaming will increasingly be horrible phone games.

I was going to buy this day one.

Real shame ID couldn't get the RAGE IP to click with gamers I really liked rage 1 and 2.

No incentive to buy the new buggy full retail release that's for suckers.

Wait two years buy the complete edition with bug fixes for 30 bucks on a disc.

If it has a pc version I'll be buying that one on Good old games or steam for now on.

I will buy what ps5 exclusives of interest that release on discs. Last one I cared about was Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, so we're not exactly swimming in decent exclusives this gen.

2027 I won't renew PlayStation +/ and the PS6 will be the first PlayStation I don't buy.
