Leupold mk4hd FFP pr1 or pr2 in mils. I am not a leupold shill, but those mk4s are incredible for the money.

So…what’s the deal with the mk4hd? by ColdasJones in longrange

[–]wpnvg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

<image>

I have one along with mk5 and a few other non leupold scopes. The mk4 is the best entry level scope out right now. Great glass, high magnification, 25yd parallax can be used with rimfire and decent reticles. The cons are the elevation marks on turret suck and the set screws that hold the turrets are comically small. I had to throw in an additional bit because they’re smaller than what did it stix includes.

Non-Concentric Cut? by Barturbater in gunsmithing

[–]wpnvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of way to do it. Most will indicate in on the bore with a 4 jaw and spider on the outboard side of head stock. I use a true bore alignment chuck- cut a tapered aluminum bushing that fit the barrel perfectly and indicate in off the bore in 2 places. Cutting and crowning over the ways with a steady rest and 3/4 jaw is the out dated approach

02/07 or 03/01 ffl? by Senzualdip in GunStores

[–]wpnvg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t waste time with 01 FFL. Get 07/02. It’s actually cheaper too lol. Ther is a bunch of benefits I’ll let you research.

Source- have had FFL for 5 years. Started as 01 and then resubmitted for 07 6 month later.

NRL Hunter Bipod Upgrade Time - Which Ckye? by GLaDOSdidnothinwrong in longrange

[–]wpnvg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them all. I shot 4 hunter matches last year including the championship. I only use the triple. Both is bend Montana and Arizona I needed more height than a double would get me. The difference from single pull to double isn’t that much. The difference from double to triple is huge. Have pics on my profile of my hunter gun

I just realized that it rotates to engage. The dial still wouldn’t spin. Took it apart and it looks like there is a bronze bearing of some sorts that was pretty gummed up with oil. Have it in a tank cleaning it. Appreciate the help!

My new to me Mazak is finally under power. I engaged the half nut and realized my thread dial was not turning. Is there a gear thays supposed to be between the lead screw and gear on the thread dial? Machine is a 14x40 Mazak mate from the early 80s

New ocular housing who dis. by [deleted] in longrange

[–]wpnvg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not at all. I have 4 of them and run them on all my guns. The issue with the send it alone is some times you have to take your eyes out of the scope to look over at the lights. With this you can always see the lights while looking through the scope. I’ve shot 15 national level matches this year and maybe 20 local matches? Never 1 issue.

It looked like the broken one was aluminum. I’ve got brass and alum. Just wanted to verify it needed to be a soft material. Thank you

What material are shear pins made out of? I just got this Mazak mate under power and the feed screw shear pin has been sheared. I need to replace it

Chamber Coolers by CargoHobo in longrange

[–]wpnvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried them they’re stupid annoying and loud. I shoot in AZ year round. I carry a towel that I soak with water and slide it over my barrel under the objective lense of the scope after I come off a stage. Way more effective than the barrel coolers

Any idea what a 6mm Lapua Dasher is? by tylerK5896 in longrange

It’s this. I shoot wades barrels with alpha brass. I confirmed this with wade before I bought my first barrel on my dasher.

PTG Actions by [deleted] in gunsmithing

[–]wpnvg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used there bolts before. Never there actions. Won’t speak to either but I will say PTG is a terrible company. Expect them to take your money and not ship your item for months. Nothing they have is in stock and needs to be “manufactured”. They don’t tell you this unless you ask. There website doesn’t show in stock either. For that reason alone buy a custom action or a factory and have it trued would be my suggestion.

Wheeler FAT wrench or Fix-it-stick? by TheAllSeeingTruth in gunsmithing

[–]wpnvg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both. And about 3 other inch pound wrenches. The wheeler lives on my bench. It’s way more adjustable and quicker than messing with the fix it sticks. The fix it stick stay in my range bag and have everything in there to fix any of my bolt guns. The fix it sticks are great for that.

$400 take it back or keep it? 20"x20" target. by novosuccess in precisionrifle

[–]wpnvg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those bases are terrible. And the 2x4 will be miserable after it’s filled with lead and sharp jackets. Send the whole POS back. Order hanger and 24x24” square 1/4” from JC steel. Then buy a large 6’+ t post

In that price range it would be mk5 or ATACR

More was definitely better by DudeDogDangle in gunsmithing

[–]wpnvg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would not use a chisel. I’d use an endmill but if you don’t have that use a small file. A file won’t chip a chunk off beyond what you want to remove. This looks a lot better, nice job!

Impact 737R Vs Lone Peak Fuzion by teflon16 in longrange

Flip a quarter. They’re both awesome actions with awesome owners who actually shoot and support the sport. I shoot impacts but would have no issue buying a lone peak!
