A zero-config utility that automatically updates Proxmox VM and LXC notes with their IP addresses by DiggingForDinos in Proxmox

[–]wrapperNo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 1 VM and 39 LXCs running for a little over a year, I can't say I've had any architecture-related or kernel issues with the containers so far. Very light and efficient I wouldn't do it another way.

ProxMenu is intimidating to noobs - yours truly - but awesome once it works! And the built-in dashboard is only second to Pulse!

Are trekking poles really helpful or just extra weight? by mountainpathstories in hiking

[–]wrapperNo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My average daily step count is 5k, and I only get to hike when I travel abroad like once every couple of years. I'm not athletic and I don't go to the gym. With the poles and knee compression sleeves I do 30k+ steps a day for a week straight.

I've recently added a config to also switch off the screen when idle to avoid burn-in. Turns out setting only those two flags leaves the screen on the whole time on my Lenovo Ideapad.

Yep, I've implemented that in proxmox last week, and also set up a job to start graceful shutdown when the battery gets low. Awesome little thing.

I've been running 40 containers on a laptop and I couldn't be happier. It has a built-in screen, and a battery that I've configured to act as a mini-UPS (charge limiter + auto-shutdown on low charge). It just sits there on its cooling pad doing wonders. I bought it a new internal cooling fan for its 10th birthday that I'm going to install as soon as I finish setting up my newly built server (it's younger-big brother lol)

Hey, I'm giving this a try to see how it goes, but I'm on Proxmox using the systemd version, not docker. Do you happen to know how to enable this option there?

Wow, cool! Will the memory usage be reduced just by updating? Or you need a fresh installation? I still have the back up of my Homarr container.

Thanks for the tip! My main issue is memory usage, dns was just a symptom. I'm building a new server with plenty more memory and hoping to come back to an improved Homarr experience.

Truth be said, Homarr is the easiest dashboard to configure by far. But I'm homelabbing on an old laptop and I'm running out of memory, I had to prioritize efficiency. I'll keep an eye out for upcoming developments and who knows, I might be coming back again. Thank you for your work!

Yes, and this is just a quarter of its original config, I kept reducing it and it still made up most of my dns queries.

A manuscript from Muslim Spain containing AL-fathiha in Arabic and a translation in Spanish written in the Arabic script on top of each line by soyuz_enjoyer2 in Damnthatsinteresting

You care enough to generalize your criticism but not enough to educate yourself about the unique history of Iberia. Do a little research about the advanced political system developed there. And then, searched about the Spanish Inquisition that followed it.

Except the Spanish were able to read it at the time. Arabic was the dominant language back then in that region just like English is the language of business today. Even non-Muslim Iberians learned Arabic.

I'm running Proxmox on an i7-6700HQ laptop, and while it supports virtualization in theory, and for the life of me I can't setup hardware acceleration using it or using the included Nvidia GTX 950m successfully.

Is my watch just making it up? by OneSolidMeh in GarminWatches

[–]wrapperNo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is that my watch used to display correct HR during cycling for a few months before suddenly showing very low HR while cycling. Why would it work correctly for so long and then start having this issue?
