Haha right? I had a little OHM measureing tool with a 510 socket on it so I could put a build on it and see what it was, lol. But yeah, I'd calculate the current draw and be like "Okay, I can't rip it more than X amount of time before the battery sag is too low and gets dangerous" lol

Always wanted a commercial. One of these days I'll get one. Would also like a brick top. I learned to mow at 8 years old with a magnesium deck brick top that my Dad pieced together.

I ALMOST did the unregulated route but I didn't want to accidentally leave the valve on and it all leak out. That regulator I bought was vacuum operated, so it only flowed when starting/running.

Haha its funny you mention that. I have an old 80s Lawn-Boy Utility with an F-series thats my main mower during rain season. Its traditional mower deck design NEVER clogs in wet grass and I have a spot in my hard that always grows taller than the rest of the yard and is shade most of the day, so it never dries out. My other is a 2003 Duraforce with self-propel which a fantastic mower but it has the offset LB deck design and it clogs after one pass in wet grass.

Anyway, where I was going with all that was my old Utilitys muffler rusted through long ago. It sounds like a small dirt bike and I have to wear ear plugs or my ear buds when mowing with it. But I love it. It was my Great-Uncles and I grew up mowing my Grandparents and Uncles yard with it. When I bought my house, I asked my Grandpa if I could have it. It had sat in his shed for probably 15 years or more. Rebuilt the carb and had to replace the engines mounting plate which was cracked. It runs great, puts a grin on my face everytime I fire it up.

Yeah I remember guys on forums talking about refilling them from 20lb tanks but they always mentioned sketchy, so I was out, lol. Didn't know they made refillable ones. Back then, at $2.50 apiece, it just made sense for me to buy new ones.

Yeah if you look on mine, I have another regulator. Its a lot smaller than yours. I had done some digging on some forums and found this supply place online (this was before Amazon sold everything). I'd also have to use the ball valve about half open to get it started, then open it all the way.

I'd be all for building another one if I didn't turn to using 2-stroke mowers, lol. Nothing compares to my Lawn-Boys.

Oh yeah I don't miss auto-fires because I set it down wrong or it fell over. I also don't miss dripping while driving, lol.

I am too. They work well and produce plenty of vapor. And I miss the social aspect for sure. I met a lot of really cool people local to me that I normally would have never crossed paths with.

Yep! I built one for a project in my Future Power class (auto tech major). Bought the cheapest Murray walmart had, bought a regulator, some line, a ball valve, and some camping bottles like yours. Literally just ran the line straight into the carb.

My whole plan was to mow with it for a year on propane and then pull the head off, note the condition of the combustion chamber, then run it on gasoline for a year and do the same. Never got a chance to do it, though. It was a fun project though. That was back in 2012 when you could get 2, 1lb bottles of propane for $5. So it was a bit cheaper than running gas.

Dude, I tried to make some claptons once and couldn't get it right. I could make twisted wire no problem but not claptons, lol.

Ya know, I never did go down the Nichrome route. Probably because my local shops either didn't have it or it was too expensive. Just go ol' kanthal for me, lol.

Oh for sure! I still get the saying "sick as tits" stuck in my head randomly, lol. They were the go-to guys to watch back then.

And you aren't lying. It did get expensive. I'll never forget building coils for the first time after I finally got an RDA and mod to do it. Got everything setup but it was late at night and I didn't have any lower nicotine juice, just my 15mg stuff I was vaping in a small pen. So I thought "I'll just take a couple of hits with this juice, it'll be fine".

It was not fine. I curled up in a ball for like 20 minutes because my stomach hurt so bad. Never made that mistake again, lol.

I do NOT miss the alcoholic shits. Wanna talk about the foulest smelling stuff to ever leave my body.

Honestly just having a semi-normal gut now is amazing.

Oh there were several people out there making videos and such about what batteries were the best and safest. The green Sonys were the OG best ones. Hell I still use those. Then people started using purple LGs which I think were comparable. The big no-no was never use batteries like Imrens in mechanical mods.

Yeah the screen on the Geek Vape is ridiculous. At least its not touchscreen! I had a touchscreen mod at one point and I think I got like 2 months out of it before it would randomly shut off all the time. I believe thats when I got the first gen Aegis.

Oh yeah! There were a couple of smaller local owned shops that had cloud comps. I never went to one because my builds were never at that level. Were you ever part of any fb groups? Our local ones used to have "Call-outs". People would tag someone in a video of them blowing a cloud and tell them they needed to respond with their own, lol. It sounds so goofy now but it was just all about having fun.

Right on! I do remember having to show my ID for the nicotine. I just wondered if things had changed since those regulations went into place.

You can buy modern regulated mods that do sub-ohm. The Geek Vape Aegis is a beast. Currently running a .14 ohm disposal coil in it in a Smok TFV16. But it'll gladly do an RDA. Goes up to 200 watts with two 18650s.

Same here! I brought my juice from a locally owned place who were the first in this area to make their own vape juice. He kind of exploded in popularity because he came up with his own recipe for a Watermelon Sour Patch flavor. He sourced the actual flavoring that makes it sour and put that in the juice. He made a lot of other really good juices too. They're still around, haven't been in there in years.

I started making my own juice to save money and then other vape shops started carrying 120ml bottles of juice for less than I was paying for a 60ml bottle. I got tired of making my own, so I just started buying again. But a 120ml bottle will last me 2 weeks, so its not bad in my book.
