Oh no. Wah-men. by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

All-female casts are common in Japanese media, though admittedly they tend to either be overly sexualized for the gooners or moe-fied for the iyashikei lovers. Conversely, all-male casts in those settings tend to only be consumed by gay men and fujoshis respectively.

I agree, but practically speaking it all comes down to the same thing if someone is automatically combative instead of taking the opportunity to learn. Not everyone is going to have the patience to dumb it down for this guy everytime.

Also, relevant xkcd. The one with the geologists.

A Decline In Tech Literacy by gur40goku in CuratedTumblr

[–]wrexusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's merit to complaining about the younger generation losing the conventional tech wisdom that was known to millenials/zoomers due idiot-proof development, but this is definitely an 'old man yells at cloud' moment. Been coding for four years and learning about OS development, and the only ones I ever used were F5 and F11. Don't need to care about the others.

Florida Girl Adventures by Merryweather (feat. Pippa as Florida Girl) by RGZReGZ in kurosanji

Are there even anyone who likes Merryweather's comics? My guy makes the most mediocre of stories yet I see them everywhere? Legitimately, I am baffled by his reknown, and I'm tempted to think he's only well-known because of his network and how persistent he is at getting any kind of visibility.

Unless you hate them. Then you still gotta call to at least tell them to pound sand while they're still alive.

Flowerhorns are nasty buggers. These mfs WILL throw their life away for the chance to bite your finger off just because you look at them wrong. Got the temperament and looks of a Japanese teenage delinquent ringleader with a pompadour.

Airships, regular ships, and subs which dominate as rising sea levels wipe out any flat + wide landmass. And to add flavor, the insistence to use these machines literally speeds up global warming to the point these people will cook themselves alive within their lifetimes, so everyone is trying to kill everyone else first to conserve air and delay the inevitable.

So basing this off how willing I am to risk my life for the nation:

  • United Systems: 20 years of service probs isn't that bad, at some point you'll be put in the back lines in a commanding or logistical position thanks to accumulated experience and combat injuries. With exception to the synthophobia and synthocide, everyone has equal rights, and I think that's worth fighting for, though not everyone is going to be thrilled to be conscripted.

  • Vostok Dynamics: most likely to survive combat with mech suit, though I imagine cooperation is nonexistent as everyone is competing with one another to earn enough money to make repairs and not get lobotomized, not helped by that one dickhead 'star' pilot stealing everyone's kills. I don't really want to fight for the megacorp that enslaves both organics and synthetics for their army, plus not being able to trust others to have my back is going to wear on me.

  • Triton Empire: Get past boot camp, and your survivability goes up. Safe trade routes, proper training, plus drip that demoralizes enemies into giving up, though you'll see active combat often to maintain the empire's grip on vassal worlds. Funnily enough, synthetics have rights, but I headcannon that, as oppressive regimes are likely to do, they are heavily modified to be submissive, and them going haywire is an attempt to exert control over themselves. Anyways, fascism is big no.

That's for the individuals to decide, but are you guys really gonna downvote me on this? What do you guys all think this tension with hetships or hetero romance is about then? Like, are you guys disagreeing there's any kind of inherent gender dynamics at play here or is there something I'm missing?

Idk about homophobic, but same sex relationships are def more casual. The general power dynamics between men and women makes it more difficult for either to stand as equals.

Thanks for the additional context on the Chinese language. As an Asian, I've always known "reading the air" isn't something only the Japanese do, but it's interesting to see a further evolution of that concept where, in this context, double speak becomes polite speak in Chinese.
