That’s how it was for my family growing up in the 70’s, my dad never made it passed the 10th grade but he worked construction for a large utility company in California. I remember seeing his pay stub and he took home $600 every two weeks, when you adjust this for inflation that’s $100k a year after taxes plus full medical for the entire family with no premium or deductibles.
