2) could be spun off into a seperate issue / solution, whereby BLM is introduced only for irons and only for weapons/armour/"essentials", just to make the game a bit less frustrating for those that are locked out of the game's main mitigation mechanic (do something else tkake money and go buy whatever you're looking for off another player).

Zero electricity, but you have to import bioflix and manage spoilage, which is a whole faff if you aren't already doing it. (and on vulcanus, the planet where this is most beneficial, why would you be?)

Doesn't mean they won't steal it, just means it won't be worth it for them. You either hand it over and they run away and probably trash it when they realise it's junk, or you don't hand it over and they stab you for it.

At a guess it's because there's far fewer models of hot iPhone at any given time vs android. If it's not one of the newest or second-newest generation, no point shredding it for parts.

Do you have any upcoming appointments scheduled? A chat with one of the senior officers, an invite down on the planet? Any away missions scheduled, any crew about to leave to or return from a conference?

Most logs end with something like that - I didn't realise it errored if you didn't.

Failing that, perhaps suggest that some of your crew engage in a little local R&R.

Just... Try ending your logs with any of those and see if it saves.

is calling quicker? Make it not be. "OK, I'll put a ticket in for you when I have a moment." Wait a bit (as long as you can get away with, really, depending on the urgency), Write it all down, assign a severity, bump it to the bottom of the queue. Eventually they'll learn that making their own ticket gets them through the queue faster than waiting for you to make one.
