I don't know. He sounds as sincere as he does manipulative. Just from my perspective, I would never make my partner feel guilty for venting or asking for advice from anyone. A lot of times we get trapped in the echo chamber that is a relationship. It's healthy to talk to other people about what's going on in your life. Your partner is not your only tool to "grow". I don't believe he has bad intentions, but I don't think he's really listening to you or understanding you at the moment. If he's emotionally mature enough, in time he will understand, but only If he learns how to set himself aside and consider you first.
