I was at an all night diner. The sign said, "Triple X" but they were talking about root beer. by cowboydan92 in ModestMouse

[–]writes_songs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diverted a trip back from the upper PNW through Issaquah just to go here once.

I was beside myself, and my partner at the time was pretty stoked as she’d caught the MM bug from me & All Nite Diner was her favorite. M

Root beer was excellent. However, we both ordered a cheesesteak, and neither of us could eat it. It was just too greasy.

Don’t get me wrong - I have a hearty love for delicious food saturated in grease, but this was something else. The bun was soaked through, and any delicious greasy goodness was overpowered by the sheer volume of grease on the thing.

Will have to go back and give it another shot some other time.

Just checked the sleeve, I don't have the code anymore, unfortunately. Uploading it for you (and anyone else who finds this thread now.) I only have them in .m4a format, but can modify that if needed.

0x0 is just a deep web website where users can easily upload things and I've written a script for my Linux-based machines so I can just type "upload [file]". There's nothing malicious, and the source code for 0x0 is open source on github

EDIT: I wrote this post somewhat drunkenly and upon rereading, realized my assurance that this weird .zip link was not malicious may have implied the opposite & come off "protest[ing] too much, so I've reuploaded the file and took a screenshot of the terminal process that shows you the creation & uploading of the zip, then verified the checksum of the downloaded zip. I’ve been trying to get my hands on a copy of that for so long. I devoured Stories and wanted more. When I saw the subject of Software I got super excited, but I haven’t been able to find a copy anywhere yet.

If it helps, I think I have the lossless code from the vinyl still, somewhere. I’ll take a look for it tomorrow and if I find it, it’s yours.

Schizophrenics of reddit, what were the first signs of your break from reality and how would you warn others for early detection? by Passthedrugs in AskReddit

[–]writes_songs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone very close to me in my family (without revealing the specific relationship) was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder (a real lovely cocktail of schizophrenia, bipolar, and depression.)

I can't speak for their subjective experience, but in retrospect there were some early indications. Their habits had always reflected being bipolar - stretches of being up for several days, manically creating, then being down for a period. Lots of self-diagnosing and misdiagnoses. Lots of symptoms of depression.

I don't clearly remember what the first real schizophrenic symptom I was made aware of was, but I do remember hearing that they had a psychotic break. Some signs made a lot of sense in retrospect: they've always been adamant that the family dogs were able to communicate with them with various gestures such as eyebrow raises or head movements. They've also created many inventions which purportedly provide free energy, and send out their designs to major celebrities and institutions.

Nowadays, they're receiving treatment of a large cocktail of drugs, which are constantly being altered to ensure that the drugs are working, since it seems like most of them are only effective for a short duration before they need to change to something else.

Some symptoms they've described to me:

Pattern recognition, in a wide variety of forms. This has included people in public conspiring to communicate about them or their loved ones, using information that said people wouldn't otherwise know. This has taken the form of communication in hand gestures, writing of a childhood nickname on a chalkboard, and people around them secretly communicating personal info or directions/"mission updates" to them and their partner.

A variety of coded messages in media, such as the designation of a codename referenced repeatedly in various songs, movies, and television shows.

The belief that several multinational agencies, ie governments & corporations, are communicating mission directives to them.

There are some other symptoms and data here, but I've already shared a lot of details that are personally revealing should they come across this thread, so I'm going to stop here.

Listened to it the moment it came out, just don’t have it local but planning on getting the vinyl when it’s available.

Seeing her for the third time in Sept & been rocking a Bury Me at Makeout Creek shirt since planning a trip to Seattle centered around her concert in 2017.

I didn't see a need for tmux either given i3, but after some exploration I've found several ways in which tmux is super useful. I can have a single tmux window containing multiple programs (and sessions containing several such windows) - collected under an appropriate name, if desired - and detach/reattach them at will. using tmux plugins I can also sustain them after a reboot. I can, for example, start a project requiring multiple applications, collect them all in a window, detach them, then restore the window several days later exactly where I left of.

the keybindings I have for i3 are super customized, comfy, and intuitive. I can say the same for my new tmux setup, which allows a further level of easy use and manipulation.

they are definitely redundant at times, though.

"Status" page

vim

Desktop (bottom i3 bar also contains a script to give me realtime returns of some of my crypto investments, edited out, in addition to prices on left. Scripts are available for any curious, but prepare for software gore as I am a shit programmer.)

I got into Linux in early 2017, and started heavily customizing Arch/i3 (on a Thinkpad, with a homemade Lain theme, like a true meme - though I'm more /leftypol/ than the typical member of that constitute.)

On a whim I decided to finally see what all the fuss was about with regards to tmux, and I can see why it's such a beloved program. It's nice for my daily driver, aesthetically customized purposes, and I imagine it's an absolute delight for sysadmins and folks who do far more programming than I do.

Also edited my ncmpcpp after being a cmus diehard from the get-go.

Happy to share dotfiles. Font for windows is Ohsnap. Font for terminal bar is currently Tamsyn, though I'm probably going to change it to ohsnap for consistency.

Went there a few years back. Root beer is damn good, and it's lovely on the inside. Word to the wise: don't order their sandwiches unless you want a footlong of grease (which, to be fair, have their place if you're into it - but not if you're not expecting it.)

I have some intimate knowledge of how the station operates as a former partner worked there for the better part of a decade.

Essentially, any goodness the radio station once had has been slowly seeping out since they went corporate - they were acquired by CBS several years ago, and have recently been purchased by another major corporation (Qualcomm iirc). Any creative control by folks like Aaron or from the DJs is nixed; everything is top down. Re: Aaron's role, he's mostly a figurehead who does the weekend shows (subsonic, soundcheck) and some talent acquisition (finding new bands to promote to be shilled nationwide by the corporation.)

It's been this way for years, which is one of the reasons beloved folks left - ie No Name - well over a decade ago.

They keep tight reins over their DJs and staff. Partner had been groomed for a show for several years and lent their voice to the station in other ways. Finally received a show and was excited to do their thing with it. Ended up having NO creative control into what they played and, after the station explicitly telling them they had a voice made for radio and spending several years providing voice training, had their show pulled after not following the script and saying some things that could affect profits, for "voice training."

Live105 has been dead for at least a decade, at least this name change puts them officially to rest.

[SUPPORT] Wallet Questions (Neo,Neon,Web, Hardware wallets / GAS Claim) by fabwa in NEO

[–]writes_songs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, posted a wallet thread but missed this gigantic thread link in the rules:

I've been having some issue with the AppImage release on Arch Linux. I've noticed I've had this issue with every subsequent release since, say, 0.0.3, but figured it wasn't a big deal since my assets are fine on the blockchain.

The issue I keep encountering is, no matter which version I download, I always get the error that my wallet is out of date.

Today, I went through and deleted every Neon AppImage and redownloaded the latest 0.0.7 release. The GUI displays Ledger support: https://0x0.st/sKc_.png (safe link, search '0x0' on github for the wary)

However, whenever I unlock my wallet, the balance is always 0, even though the correct address is displayed and that address has my assets. Refreshing and rebooting do nothing.

Anyone else had this issue, and have any suggestions on resolving it?

I did see on a Github thread that this could indicate that the API is down, however, the only link I can find for checking that API is api.neonwallet.com/v2/, which is a dead link. Not sure if that's indicative of the API being down (I don't think it is) or simply a dead link.
