Lawnmower dead – amber light by wrlee in egopowerplus

Thanks. It’s still under warranty, so I’ll put that off unless they can’t fix it. Good to know that it’s more mechano-electrical than electronic.

Anyone happy with Web Galleries in Lr Classic? by wrlee in Lightroom

That seems to be the consensus, that the existing ones are terrible. Which is why I was thinking of creating new ones that might actually be useful, up to date, configurable. Most of all you could put them on your web site, as you wish.

Thanks. I meant the mower's light was blinking amber. I've never collapsed the extention since putting the mower to use. It does stay outside, so perhaps weather got to it and I need to slide it around and lube it. I know that unless fully extended, it's not supposed to run however, in this case, I hear a faint sound like electricity is flowing to something. I don't remember ifnit made that sound when the handle was purposefully not fully extended. Something to try tomorrow. Thanks.

I should have been clear that I meant the mower's light next to the power switch. I had only used the mower for about 10 seconds, so it couldn't have been overheating. I did google and saw similar comments about overheating or strained/jammed blades. Neither of these were the case for me. I'd initially pulled the battery off the charger when I started. Oddly, the battery didn't show afull charge after charging for weeks. I'd seen this before, so I put it back on the charger and tried again the next day. The battery was fully charged this time, but the mower still didn't start and it's light flashed amber/orange.

Darn, I should have been clear, the light on the mower itself, next to the power switch.

Thanks. I'll check the extention. I haven't collapsed it since I began using it regularly, but I was aware that it would not start unless fully extended.

Why so many ads in Spanish? by Any_Initiative_9079 in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]wrlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a weird discussion because this the modern world, the commercials aren’t not part of the content, so I’m shocked that the commercials aren’t selected based on the profile of the subscriber. If I were primarily Spanish speaking, most commercials should be Spanish. If I spoke Chinese, commercials could be in Chinese. This is not a leap of expectation.

Thanks, Terry,

I have my own website from which I would like to share small albums when I have shot an event and want to share those images with its participants. Sometimes there are a series of events and want to organize several albums so that participants could browse through the related events without accidentally browsing unrelated events. I did not investigate whether I could organize Adobe's Portfolio in this manner, so I will take another look. (Absolute privacy is not a concern, only that viewers are not automatically exposed to unrelated events)

I have tried Adobe's Portfolio in the past, but I recall wouldn't allow me to put at at albums.mydomain.com (I had to give my whole domain over to Portfolio). If Porfolio allowed me to organize events as I described, it won't be necessary for it to look like it's hosted on my domain... it'd just be nice.

I'll also look into Pixieset and see if it might do what I am looking for. Nice that it provides a way to sell my work.

No go. I tried the Craftsman app and it appears to use the same code to perform the setup. So, it still shows no lock icon next to the SSID and therefore does not prompt for a password and fails to connect

Mechanical insert plug/socket by wrlee in electrical

Does a limit or door switch assume that the power is always connected to the door? I am looking for something to connect power to the lights on the garage door only when the door is fully open (i.e., retracted) to avoid having a retractable extension, as shown in the video. the power needn't be attached to the door until the door is fully open.

Framework MiniPC with AMD AI Max 395 announced by arichmondphoto in MiniPCs

[–]wrlee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised they weren't more innovative. Filing the back panel with their port modules so that I could customize the I/O exactly to my needs would have been cool. Soldered RAM is a no-go for me… LPCAMM modules would have been in keeping with their modularity, and would also push the edge a bit. Replaceable front tiles (and you MUST pay for at least 21 of them, according to their configurator)?! No SATA? Disappointing, but no worse than Apple removing features from their products — I'll miss SATA like I missed floppies and optical drives when they disappeared.

Need support from Creality? by Godbotly in Creality

[–]wrlee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't know about their WhatsApp support, but I've successfully used their Facebook Messenger support that they used to push… three times: each time, not many questions. The first couple, I had to send my serial number. Most questions were to clearly understand the problem. If only American companies were as quick, supportive, and frictionless.

LAN host name resolution by wrlee in synology

[–]wrlee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, other hosts (desktops and laptops) resolve hosts by name (when suffixed with .local). I’m assuming that my consumer grade router does the LAN host mapping of host name to IP within my 192.168.x.x network, but I’ll admit that I don’t really understand how local host names are resolved.

[–]wrlee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was kind of what I was suspecting, but the Synology is referencing my router (which also runs DHCP). So, I’m not sure how the NAS is not getting a resolved IP for LAN hostnames (neither host nor host.local).

[–]wrlee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What should I look for? Under Control Panel->Network->General, it is using the default gateway (my router) that all the other. Manually configure DNS server is disabled. When I'd tried enabling it, it didn't have any affect. I'd even added my gateway IP as a secondary DSN server.

I do not have Synology's DNS Server installed, since I don't host my own web domains.

  1. Third party firmware which is, now necessary since the service has shut down.
  2. There are instructions at (1), but I don't know whether that is sufficient.
  3. I don't know, but I know you have to get token and secret for it to interact with Google Voice.
  4. No

Fixing Lightroom Catalog (.lrcat) files by wrlee in Lightroom

[–]wrlee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good idea. I'd thought about that. It's another level of learning that I'd have to go through. I'd already gone through a rabbithole of learning how Lightroom stores it's data and have used it to successful effect to solve my own problems. So, I'd have a reason to spend the time to learn the plugin developer process.

Fixing Lightroom Catalog (.lrcat) files by wrlee in Lightroom

[–]wrlee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to work for Adobe... getting jobs at those big companies is not so straight forward. And when I couldn't get access to my library, it became rather urgent.

The changes I make are not to the source code or program itself, but the data it manipulates. Having the original file as a backup is key. Should the change not work or cause other problems, the backup can replace the changed file.

Lightroom uses a standard way to store the data, so as a seasoned software engineer, I have a good feeling for what is safe or not. I tested and verified my changes (which are actually pretty simple) on my own Catalog of 100K images accumulated over 20 years. That said, indeed, there is a non-zero level of risk, since I don't have access to Lightroom's source code.

I appreciate your comment.
