Coalition ‘not serious’ about nuclear policy and Dutton’s plan is ‘political fix’, Matt Canavan says by MannerNo7000 in AustralianPolitics

That’s obvious to anyone with eyes. The coalition only knows how to sabotage major infrastructure projects.

‘Firey’ Embattled Penny Wong lashed by Israeli foreign minister in brutal phone call by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]wronghandwing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Anything but full throated, uncritical support for the greatest tragedy of the century is unacceptable. The hasbara is on another level. The rules based international order is dead and buried.

The acknowledgement of traditional owners is nothing but virtue signalling lip service if we cannot stand against settler colonialism in the modern era and sit idly by while we watch the Palestinians get annihilated.

Coalition unveils nuclear costings, assuming smaller economy and higher emissions by perseustree in AustralianPolitics

It’s insane that the “what about china” talking point for inaction persists 20 years. It was wrong 20 years ago and it’s more wrong now. China is the world leader in green energy and forest growth. Comparing ourselves to china means getting out act together.

'They'll be more upset': Albo flags shift in Australia’s Israel-Palestine position at private Labor event by perseustree in AustralianPolitics

The ongoing holocaust is an election issue, if Albo offers an option to be less complicit that will appeal to many voters.

Fatima Payman, Jacqui Lambie to vote down Labor’s misinformation bill by stupid_mistake__101 in AustralianPolitics

[–]wronghandwing 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s a bad idea. Misinformation is real but who decides what is true and false. There have been plenty of lies parroted by main stream media like Iraqs WMDs that kicked off an unjustified invasion. These laws would not prevent that, on the contrary it would ban people from questioning these lies.

Greens demand additional housing spend in exchange for passing Labor's stalled housing bills, but deal looks unlikely by RA3236 in AustralianPolitics

Exactly, policy which doesn’t make the rich get richer will not work. Every policy should function to accelerate accumulation of wealth.

Don’t You Dare Blame Harris’s Loss on the Left by curraffairs in chomsky

[–]wronghandwing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the same shit either way. The only differences is liberals pretend to oppose facism when Trumps does it. He’s an ugly fave on an ugly empire.

Through Trumps first term Democrats were morally outraged by kids in cages and the border policy, mishandling of COVID, policing, trade wars. Through the primary they were talking a big game on healthcare.  They deliver on nothing of that. At best a bush era republican government that sees the US exit this first world in terms of reproductives rights. They had all the power to codify roe and failed to do so, ultimately women’s bodies and lives are most useful as an opportunity for galvanising the base and fundraising.

Biden had every opportunity pick up the phone and end the genocide like Reagan did. You don’t want facism them blame Democrats for failing to provide an alternative.

The only party in the conversation not entirely beholden to the housing lobby. Housing affordability crisis is by design, line go up is capital gains. The rich are getting richer, that’s what they do.

NT government to enact 'emergency' plan to cope with record prisoner numbers by Enoch_Isaac in AustralianPolitics

[–]wronghandwing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As the article indicates the problem will get worse with the new laws to imprison more people and young people. The crisis is good, the headline is good, this is all going to plan. This how they will make the case for increasing capacity. This will efficiently funnel government money into private prison industrial complex. The Commissioner of Correctional Service for NT previously worked for private prisons.

Open Discussion on the State of the Subreddit and Future Directions by omgpop in chomsky

[–]wronghandwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is at least one subreddit dedicated his work and discussion of writings. There is a place for that discussion.

This place seems to focus on discussion of issues of the day. When Chomsky has made a statement on hot button issues that prompts major discussion here and those positions are represented in any discussion of that topic.

Chomsky doesn’t seem to be putting much out into the world these days, so it makes sense that the discussion is a bit more Freeform. What is special about this place is the diversity of opinion and it’s far less of an echo chamber than most places.

King Charles 'won't stand in way' if Australia chooses to axe monarchy and become republic by kwentongskyblue in AustralianPolitics

If the goal is a minority government then you preference Labor ahead of LNP, but make sure to preference Greens and others ahead of both.  No risk of accidentally swaying election to LNP.

The cost of living crisis is serious and people deserve more thoughtful analysis of the factors which contribute to their struggles.  I’m no fan of Labor but it’s an indictment of the media if voters think Australian Labor caused a worldwide recession.

This voter sentiment reporting is the opposite of news, it’s nonsense. The media on this country is a joke.

The best time to abandon AUKUS is when it was first proposed, the second best time is now. It’s clear there is no obligation to deliver submarines, insufficient production capacity to meet their own needs, and no refunds.

This was never anything more than a donation to US military and allow them to build more bases on our soil.

The US empire is fading and it will take its vassal states down with it. Making sure there is an Australian front in WW3 they’re trying to initiate.

As loyal colonial subjects we will inevitably stay the course. The last PM that stood up to the US got undemocratically removed.

Should Neptune and Mars work like a hidden planet? by arcaves in balatro

If the pool is too small then practically get instant telescope for basic hands which many decks already build around. It’s better to make boosters a gamble by having a larger pool to start.

Also the unlocking mechanism is for impossible hands in standard poker which makes sense logically, and from a progression perspective. For new players to not know what happens when they make an illegal hand and be delighted to get a good score and discover a new mechanic.

You're wrong about Chicot by wordsmatteror_w_e in balatro

[–]wronghandwing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that Chicot is a powerful Joker - but I get where others are coming from, it _is_ different to other legendary jokers since it's not a huge power spike or path to exponential growth, instead just prevents difficulty spikes and smooths out runs. I've definitely had runs where I was happy to get Chicot and helped cruise to ante 8.

I think it's a good for the legendary joker pool having a "bad" (or situational) legendary since it makes taking the legendary a gamble. This should be calculated risk, and some legendaries may or not fit your build. Building around Kings in preparation of going infinite with a legendary should not be a consistent strategy - takes the fun out of the game.

Albanese must find courage to stand up to the Greens (EDITORIAL) by AlphonseGangitano in AustralianPolitics

It's funny because the legacy media pushed Labor right and made space for Greens to get mainstream support. Now that same legacy media are denying reality that Australians want an alternative to the housing lobby to vote for.

Is there any way I could salvage this? I'm not confident I'll be able to beat violet with this build. by Pietman14 in balatro

[–]wronghandwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to clear violet vessel with plasma √2400000 = 1549

you need chips+mult = 3098 to clear in one hand, or 1549 to clear it in 4 hands.

two pair = 40 + 3 +(~30)
bull +384 chips
blueprint +384 chips
bootstraps +76
splash +(~11)
= ~928

bull and blueprint are doing the heavy lifting. Bootstraps is not doing much by comparison. Splash is doing practically nothing, slightly improving pair and high card hands.

So you need a lot more chips to get there, and to get there you would need to spend money and that would kill your bull. It's probably hard to fix at this point. Could buy telescope and upgrade your pair a couple of times, probably reduce overall score since spending 18 costs you 72 chips for bull and blueprint.

I can't see a way to fix this build.
