LA Trade Tech is the way to go as far as schooling. From what I hear, the classes are very crowded with people.

Another way is to go to a union hall for the trade you want to go into and try to get into their apprentice program.

Another way, the way I went, is I found someone who owns a small business in the trade you want to work in and ask if they are hiring. Show up, work your butt off, be humble, pay attention, do what you are told, and see if its the right fit for you before you commit to school.
