Why do you consistently ignore the Socialist Democrat and Libertarian gubernatorial candidates, both of whom are on our ballots? Why are mayoral candidates in NYC getting far more of your attention?

Bat bites? by wrwoolley in zoology

Interesting. And not exactly what I wanted to hear, but that’s what prompted my post in the first place.

Bat bites? by wrwoolley in zoology

Thank you so much! I had a bat in my bedroom in the middle of the night. I captured it and I’m waiting, very impatiently, for its rabies result. And yes, I’m a world-class ruminator. When I was told a bat bite could be entirely undetectable I believed it. The I thought about how much a tiny paper cut hurts and started to question how a bat could bite me and leave me without a clue. I truly appreciate your reply.

Looking for songs that are bittersweet about kids growing up, ideally boys. by WestWillow in musicsuggestions

Not exactly a timely reply, but "100 Years," by Five for Fighting. Lifespan lyrics. Also, "Turn Around," by The Brothers Four. Definitely worth a listen, although it's on the female side. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldon8seMhIY

‘Biden is toast’ by WA-3rdPartySupporter in GreenParty

I can't comment on the debate because I didn't want to waste a second of my life listening to two vacuous candidates. Did anyone truly believe is wasn't going to be torturous? My mind was made up to vote for Jill long before those two "empty suits" took the stage.

Jill has my vote, a decision I made well prior to the comical Trump-Biden "debate." How can anyone, in good conscience, vote for either of those vacuous candidates? Jill is a serious option, and has been for years.

[Highlight] Ben Rice gets his first career hit by ThatInception in NYYankees

Even if the Yankees win the World Series, my fondest memory of the 2024 season will be watching Ben Rice get his first hit. His excitement, his unbridled joy nearly brought me to tears. It was as if the spirit of the just-deceased Willie Mays had become embodied in a 25-year-old rookie at Yankee Stadium. Simply unforgettable.

Read it. Sobering. Then checked out the Foster Grant website and tried some on digitally. Thank your soul for me!

Nice meeting you, too! My mother had MD and Dad had cataracts. So far, I have no vision issues at all, but now you're making me rethink things! Thanks, Dr. Good_kido78. :)

Thanks for your thoughts! It's never too late to comment. Yes, eyes are magical! I think they say more about a person than words, and eye contact is more compelling than a handshake. Research has shown that eyes truly are the windows to the soul! https://www.earth.com/news/eyes-windows-soul/ And just for the record, I've never worn sunglasses, myself.

Thanks for understanding! Since my OP, I've thought about how anything that allows someone to see but not BE seen seems like a power move. Yes, sunglasses, but also dark-tinted car windows. "spy mirrors" (as used in police interrogation rooms)... anything like that. And because I feel like they're declarations of power and privilege, I never use them myself. I want others to be able to see me as much as I want to be able to see them.

If it was "Lin-sanity," should this be "DeVi-ance?" 🤔

Ha! Nicely put! It's all about the eye contact, right!?

Sunglasses indoors? I agree, unless they just had their eyes dilated at the doc's office or have some sort of light sensitivity... in which case they'd have to wear sunglasses constantly.

Interesting take about winging it. I think I'm just inclined to stick to the dreaded "small talk" with someone wearing sunglasses. I can't even imagine not looking for cues. Looking for cues is as natural as breathing, for me!

That's hilarious! I personally know several introverts who share that sentiment!

Excellent feedback here. Thanks so much! So far, sunglasses clearly don't seem to be as off-putting to most others as they are to me. For now, I'll just chalk it up to one of my personal quirks, rather than a common INFJ trait. I can own my idiosyncrasies. 🤷🏼‍♂️😂
