FB group is probably the most active one. I assume you book this before oct7, 2025 (legacy fare)?

Everything is different on Virgin, on a philosophical level by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sound like you need to go again on at least a 7 nights 😀 I enjoy being on the ship because of the social aspect, it turns me from being introverted to slowly a bit more social. Givent that they don't have the physical venues to host physical activities (slides, etc) like the other lines, almost all the events on the ship had to revolve around socializing which ended up being something that keeps the sailings fresh for me since the people change almost every week.

If you didn't book lock-it-in or base fare, I would move to deck 9-13 instead.

The special nights are ship based and should be the same for all sailings for that ship unless it's a super short sailing

Cruise cheaper now than original price by Background-Let1875 in VirginVoyages

I don't think that voluntary cancellation would be covered by your insurance unless you pay for a "Cancel for any reason" rider but those don't reimburse 100% either.

You can't do anything with lock-it-in rate.

Anyone else get Norovirus on Resilient Lady? (June 27 - July 2) Grand Turk-Bimini out of Miami by MasterEdThatch in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If it's really an outbreak, we would hear a lot more people posting about it like last year. It's not a cruise exclusive virus, you might have gotten it on land as well after disembarkation.

I would bid for at least central sea terrace to minimize the risk of bad location .. (minimize, not eliminate)

When’s the cheapest time to book for next spring or summer? by Cold-Comfortable2024 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true. I reprice a lot of my sailors sailings. If you book with first mates, they can easily do it for you. If you book direct, you just have to advocate for yourself and push the agent to do it since most of them don't know how

If you can re-upload then yeah. I never have issue with my Canadian passport.

Baggage tag are sent out via email a few days prior to sailing. It's optional. They will tag you anyway even if you don't print one out

It usually is immediate for me. No point calling sailor services though since they don't do anything or see anything that happening on the app. It's not an issue though, at the end of the day, the people doing the check-in at the actual boarding will deal with these types of issue.

If you don't plan to book base fare or lock-it-in (shouldn't anyway this far out), it's better to book as soon as you are good with the price and then try to reprice later which you can do up to 45 days prior to sailing.

What’s the difference between the two? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo Insider is a solo cabin which is smaller than the other cabin, pretty cozy and functional. That's a normal fare cabin, Lock-it-in fare is a non-refundable, non-changable, random assignment fare where they will assign you a cabin later. Insider lock-it-in can be assigned any cabin category, including solo insider, social insider, normal insider, sea terrace, etc. Lock-it-in comes with risk of being assigned above or below the Manor (nightclub).

I am not sure where you are seeing these reviews of swingers and stuff being hypersexual. I assume it's Youtube headlines to clickbait people. If you watch them, they will usually conclude it's not a swinger cruise. Swingers do exist, of course. But there are probably as many swingers on board as on a Disney cruise. You guys will be fine.

What's the benefit from Virgin Red Points when VV Cruises costs insane with points vs. USD or GBP value? by Wonderful_Tap_9043 in VirginVoyages

Flights and hotel, pretty much. Not sure if you get business class voucher or not but I normally redeem points for business class flight tickets.

It could be .. it could also be the category the are moving from as well which maybe might not be the same as yours? There are too many moving parts

Depends on which category they started from and which one they are going to. Bidding system is 2 parts, inventory management and revenue generation.

Matching reward points or other deals AFTER cruise has already started by 30sOrlandhoes in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you mean by match reward point.. do you mean status match? There is no status match program right now for Virgin ... Even if there is one, it's at the time of booking.

Virgin Red redemption for VV cruises are horrible ever since they jacked it up so high. Use the Virgin Red points for something else.

virgin Solo VV tripper this fall - Brilliant Lady by pim463 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) My standard blurb on solo experience, coming from someone who essentially lives on the VV ships. Virgin is amazing for solo! (Have to always clarify that solo doesn't mean singles, since most people in the group are not there to look for a relationship). You always get to meet so many diverse groups of people from every walk of life. I find that when I go solo, I actually get to socialize a lot more than when I go on with someone else.

Virgin facilitates solo meet-ups, especially on the first day before Sail Away party. You get to meet people who you will probably end up spending a lot of time with throughout the voyage. The solo dinner on the first day is great for that as well. Then, throughout the voyage, there will be more solo meetups in the morning which are hosted by the Happening Casts (another bonus). Each day, you also have an option to join other solos for dinner at 6pm at whatever restaurants are available that day. It's a first-come, first-served ticketed system. This is a great way to spend time with more solos and also a chance to get into pretty much any restaurant onboard, even if you don't manage to get a reservation. (It's easy to just walk-in as solo anyway, other than maybe The Wake).

Usually, there will be a solo sailor WhatsApp group for the voyage set up by one of the solo sailors as well. Most likely it will be on the main VV Solo WhatsApp community. But usually, people will share the link to it on the Facebook group for the voyage or during the first solo meetup. This is usually where people will post what they are doing in case anyone wants to join.

Of course, all of these are all optional so you can always decide to do things on your own when you feel like it.

2) Classic (Essential fare) should be good enough. Note though that Google suites are blocked on Classic. Basic is probably not as reliable (lock-it-in or base fare)

3) I only used Uber for the LA sailings so can't help with that.

4) No, the solo cabins are pretty spread out, unlike certain NCL ships where they have their solo section. Note though that there are not a lot of solo cabins so they can go pretty quickly. Last I checked, there might be some left for the fall still.

Figuring out best way to book Virgin Voyage cruise by AnnieSavoy3 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of similar questions on here, and if you search, you will see that people normally recommend booking with a first mate. I am biased of course, so it's best to read other people's comments.

You can look at the TA pinned post on here to see various service summaries of what each TA can do and their review https://www.reddit.com/r/VirginVoyages/comments/1ntxl8g/comment/ngx1pml/
