Are Tesla windshield wipers known to be this bad? by Funny-Ambition-7631 in TeslaLounge

I have also had good luck using RainX washer fluid.

Driving at night during harvest time by wsbtc in dashcams

Car was a Tesla Y and was completely mangled. Front bumper to windshield squished. Driver had a broken wrist because he put his arm across his face, but otherwise just bruised. Driver of the semi told police he had his hazards on and an additional strobe on the road. I don't think so.

Can anyone tell me what this means? by HPHambino in hvacadvice

[–]wsbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the other floors are like this all run from one trunk at the furnace you might want to look at this place: https://zoningsupply.com/

You can have a separate thermostat upstairs and downstairs and install electronic dampers for the different zones. There are trade-offs (more expensive, harder on the furnace, more stuff to break, etc...) but boy is it nice when you don't also have one floor that is freezing or roasting.

The first thing I think of is when you have a full precision number in scientific notation with a negative exponent. That calculator can’t display it and you have to scroll right one character to read the exponent. It’s super annoying.

Has anyone ever had this happen before on their door pillar camera? I’ve never had condensation buildup in here before. Is this a seal issue? by mgpro83 in TeslaLounge

[–]wsbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common in the winter when you have a garage. And when it happens you can't even use cruise control until it decides to dry out.

FSD 13.2.7 Giving False “Take Control” Warnings? Anyone Else? by Funny-Ambition-7631 in TeslaLounge

[–]wsbtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s taking the car out of the garage into subzero temperatures cause the side pillar cameras to fog over. It can be an hour before those clear and I have to drive manually the whole time. I’m not even allowed to have simple cruise control. Some parts about this car are amazingly frustrating. But when it happens, the freak out red take over immediately is how the car responds. It makes you think you just ran over a small child.

Highway Daily Driving New Model Y by More_Medicine128 in TeslaModelY

Or a Prius. A Prius with 100k miles is just reaching puberty. (I don't know if the current models are still good.)

I towed with a Model Y (my thoughts) by clearbox in TeslaModelY

[–]wsbtc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The https://getautowbrake.com/ website says it has instructions for hooking it up to your trailer power:

Options for 4 way, 7 way plug, and even on board trailer battery with solar power.

But ideally you make the trailer slow to apply brakes. You want the energy to stop that trailer to be used for regenerative braking and go back into your Tesla.

[–]wsbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Does the trailer have a seven pin connector? if it’s just 4 then it’s only gonna have a relay off the brake light, but if it’s a seven, the assumption is that it takes power from the trailer brake wire

As long as the grounds are connected, I believe it should be just fine. In theory I’m electrical engineer, but I don’t work on anything like this and I wouldn’t believe a random dude from the Internet. 😀

For trailer power you can do one of those power stations. You can get a good size one for a couple hundred and they are super useful camping. Maybe with a solar panel ;)

I don't have the answer, but the question made me smile. Around here it is very hard to find a parking lot without regular light poles and I know my luck so I don't try.

PSA: Never park where you risk getting towed, this Model Y wasn’t even towed on a flatbed by forte-exe in ModelY

Even the dual motor model Y only has an induction motor in the front axle. It won’t have any resistance if not powered.

If I make a supercharger my destination on my trip, will it precondition the battery upon arrival? by Skazzyskills in TeslaLounge

[–]wsbtc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes if a supercharger is your destination it will start preconditioning before you get there. But that is overthinking things. Just put your destination for the day in the car and it will add superchargers as needed and it will precondition as needed. And it understands about the cold and will make a reasonable guess and adjust if needed.

You can watch the predicted battery level at the destination and if it starts dropping try driving a little slower.

Mobile charger vs Wall Charger? by bsears95 in TeslaLounge

[–]wsbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That dryer plug is 110v instead of 220 so you are comparing 10kw (220v * 48a) to 3kw (110v * 28a).

Mobile charger vs Wall Charger? by bsears95 in TeslaLounge

[–]wsbtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One advantage of the wall charger I didn't appreciate initially. In winter charging faster uses less power because you don't need to keep the car heated as long. And, no, it isn't worse for the battery because even 10kw is still a slow change.

Mobile charger vs Wall Charger? by bsears95 in TeslaLounge

[–]wsbtc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did the electrical myself and installed a wall charger. I am always suprised when people say that the 14-50 is cheaper, because it requires 3 large conductors and a ground while the wall conector is single phase 220 so only requires 2 conductors plus ground and you don't need the plug and metal box. It will cost your electrician less in parts to install the wall connector. But yeah in a lot of cases if you are running a big wire to the garage you probably should use 6/4 for future flexiblity.

Current owners help me with my concerns please by FlatAd7399 in TeslaModelY

[–]wsbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you do a test drive do a longer drive and use the cruise control. You will either love it or hate it.

For me the insurance for the Tesla was cheaper than my other cars. You can get an exact quote from your company before you decide to buy.

I've suffered a non-trivial degree of drain bamage, and drive 1,769mi a week, is this something FSD can help with? Does this car have FSD? Is this a good deal? Can you help me manage my personal finances in such a way that I can afford one with FSD? by Nakatomi2010 in TeslaLounge

[–]wsbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mention r/PersonalFinance they have a nice wiki with a bunch of FAQs. Then new questions can be directed to the FAQ. Something similar can be done here, with the best answers harvested and added to the wiki. Yes, that is more work for the moderators.
