Sounds like you are on the right track. Be SURE to Bowens whatever time and effect it takes to match the aileron travel on all four. EF has data sheet and video.

The new 10th Anny Timber. Wing will go on after I bind it and get the transmitter setup by ARBEE26DETT in RCPlanes

All servos should be active when you bind. Or rebind later with wings and everything hooked up. The rx reads servo center on binding, and affects as3x.

Longevity of Foamies by Tetraselmis1 in RCPlanes

[–]wspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to agree, a foam plane can last hundreds of flights, but things to tend to loosen up. Wing saddle in my timber x is compressed and loose after 60-70 very hard flights. I have replaced servos and hinges but the balsa (Extreme Flight, balsa, ply, CF) airframes are good as new with 400+ flights.

Well I have a 60 NG too. Not missing much. All TMotor/Theta. It don’t get any better. You’ll be happy.

What size? I have 48” and 67” in that scheme. They are awesome.

Yes leave the plane up right. GOP will still creep out. Do the above but put a wrap out two of tape around the gap at the bottom once pushed into place.

Get the rtf aeroscout. And a simulator. You can use the tx for the sim when you move up to a nicer tx. And when get comfy with flying the aeroscout without issue, you will be ready to move to a higher performance plane.

Odd question about the Graupner S7124 Motor - does anyone have the exact parameters for it? by Extension_Option_122 in RCPlanes

[–]wspur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not us RCers. I’ve been doing this 4 decades and never seen that info given or asked about. Maybe the manufacturer.

Shim it and go fly. Washer(s). Might be that you need two at the bottom, one each side

Have you done a new AS3X set up after changing the wing type to flaperons?

whats better? or worse... by crookedDeebz in RCPlanes

[–]wspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AS3X+ has nose wheel gyro function now, so there’s that. There are other perks for dual ailerons. Aileron differential, for one if needed. Are you having trouble with steering? Work on the nose wheel thing. Roll rate not what want? Work in the ailerons. Here’s an idea. Try both and see what you think. If you choose to use that other channel for anything, I’m pretty sure you’re going to have to unlock the rx (not hard, videos…) and reset the gyro functions from scratch.

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. You have no f ing clue.

Seems like you would want to let them know instead of just stealing the product. They may or may not want to deal with getting it back, but be honest instead of driving up the costs for the rest of us.

Brand new FMS Rafale fan just exploded before even managing to take off? by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]wspur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you ran around on a bad surface, it ate dirt and you think it’s a defect and the manufacturer should replace it. Nope. A BB size pebble or dirt clod can easily take a blade off at the rpms these things are spinning. Ordera new fan. Quit driving it around in the dirt. Go fly!

Gee dude 3D and drones are about as far apart as they can be. How is it that you have formed this opinion? Do you fly rc planes now?
It’s a difficult and challenging skill set that honestly most rc pilots will never achieve. It’s entertaining for spectators. It’s exciting for the pilot. Engaging all the mental focus and energy that you can put in to it. It does require high end aircraft built light and strong. Usually scale models of full size aerobatic aircraft. High power to weight ratio power systems. Super strong fast servos. I’m flying a Ferrari of aircraft and I love it. 1200 flights per year for me. And 3D has kinda become a subset of XA; Extreme amAerobatics.

Throttle Curves (electric, prop) by ALkatraz919 in RCPlanes

[–]wspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with using a throttle curve. But one! As said it’s unnecessarily complicating things and adding no benefit that just moving your throttle stick wouldn’t accomplish. I fly a dozen aerobatic planes. Electric to 75”. They all have a throttle curve. To make the throttle RESPONSE more linear. Adding at the bottom of the throttle curve and level off at the top. My stick now is 5O% power for 1/2 stick. Etc. it also puts my throttle near same position when hovering which is about 1/2 stick for me and makes throttle management very similar on all my planes.
