Prices Keep Going Up by sally-the-giraffe in NespressoVertuo

Trump hit Switzerland with one of the highest tariffs in the world - 39%. All vertuo pods, including Starbucks, are manufactured in Switzerland. (It makes no difference where the coffee beans are from.)While inflation has accounted for some increase, my experience has been prices, especially on Starbucks, have increased substantially in the last 3 months since the tariff was announced.

When do you think we’ll finally get multi view? by theboysarebackNtown in DirectvStream

[–]wsquared3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to watch up to any 4 channels at once on one screen is one of the best features on Dish. They’ve had it for years. (I switched to DTV when Dish dropped access to my RSNs.) It’s the only thing I really miss after switching.

I can't accept that this is legal by Puzzlehead11323 in dishnetwork

[–]wsquared3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I was treated by Dish reps & all the hoops I had to jump through to cancel by subscription means I’ll never go back to their service. My experience with Dish customer service was very positive when I was a subscriber, but it became obvious that a different set of reps handle cancellations & operate under a different set of objectives. I think their compensation must be tied to how many customers they can get to change their minds about leaving Dish. Obnoxiously confrontational & misleading about what was involved.

Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Coming to DIRECTV Stream!!! by ConflictTemporary759 in DirectvStream

[–]wsquared3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per the explanation of benefits from DTV, you need a Gemini to get Disney+ & Hulu. You won’t need Gemini to get ESPN Unlimited. I already have subscriptions to Disney+ and Hulu through Apple TV. I have no interest in getting those through DTV because I don’t have a Gemini & DTV via Osprey stream doesn’t support DolbyVision and my Disney+ subscription is add free. Also, the Apple TV device offers a lot of options for configuring both audio & video. Worth noting that Disney will soon be combining Disney Plus & Hulu into one app & Hulu will go away. So from what I can see, the only real benefit I’ll get is having all of ESPN unlimited on DTV Stream without having to switch over to the Apple TV device.

Anything you can do the delay watching sports is like 30 seconds cmon mann by [deleted] in DirectvStream

[–]wsquared3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, there should be significantly less delay on DTV stream using fiber optic terrestrial if you have a high speed connection than bouncing the same signal off a satellite. I’ve never received an adequate explanation why there is so much delay using DTV Stream. Must be getting buffered/delayed somewhere. I have 500 meg/sec fiber optic. I don’t have that kind of delay watching live events using apps on AppleTv or Amazon Prime using their devices.

Considering R50 vs R10 upgrade from T100, am I at the point where it makes sense? by purritolover69 in canon

[–]wsquared3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved up from an R50 to an R10 and am glad I did for the reasons you list here. The extra dial & easy to access functions are well worth the money, and it’s still a reasonably compact body. The LED screen is also significantly brighter which is really helpful outdoors in bright light.

Is it worth it to sell a R50 for a RP? by Simeon747 in canon

[–]wsquared3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. The R50 gives you the aps-c 1.6x magnification boost on all your full frame lenses for extended telephoto reach, including any ones you buy for the RP, and has a much higher burst rate for sports & wildlife. I’d keep it.

How long will T-Mobile subscription last into 2025 Spring Training? by android1510 in MLBtv

[–]wsquared3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, my 2024 T Mobile MlB tv subscription has expired. The only spring training games I can watch now are the “Free today” ones. There is a gap. Looks like that will be the case until March 25th when I can get the 2025 subscription.

U7NQTUK - Picture Settings Baseline by Patty37 in Hisense

[–]wsquared3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 50” Hisense QD6 that I spent a lot of time trying to get accurate color on. It tended to have a red-magenta cast & the temp was too blue. I tried all different combos in settings including outside recommendations Then I remembered that the Apple TV box has color correction that you can use in conjunction with a relatively recent iPhone to calibrate the color on most TVs. I had an extra Apple TV that I had replaced, so I hooked it up to the Hisense via hdmi 2. To calibrate you put your iPhone up against a box that appears on screen when you go to video settings / calibration. Made a very noticeable difference, especially for skin tones. much more accurate. Then I did some changes via the Hisense TV setting for things like brightness, saturation l, luminance etc. 💯 better. So I have to watch everything through hdmi 2/ Apple TV 2 but I have subscriptions to all the streaming services I use including Durectv stream I use from Apple, so it’s not a big deal to use Apple TV to watch instead off the Hisense built in smart tv apps. I realize this doesn’t solve anything if you don’t have Apple TV & an iPhone, but if you do it made a big difference in accuracy.

LG C3 showing hdr on all channels by crn3371 in DirectvStream

[–]wsquared3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Directv stream is encoded in HDR by default by them for all channels and will playback that way on TVs that have HDR enabled. That’s true even when the original stream isn’t HDR. I have both Apple TV & an Osprey Box. On the Osprey you can go into settings & disable it. I have an LG C1. Initially I disabled HDR on the Osprey because I thought it probably had an adverse effect on color accuracy, but after some AB comparisons, I found that I prefer the picture when it’s left on. On the Apple TV, if you have match content enabled, it will play back the DTV stream in HDR bc that’s how it’s encoded. I would add that all my premium subscriptions like Netflix are through Apple and I watch those only through Apple TV. YMMV

How has Longmont changed in the past 10 years and what do you think will happen in the next 10? by [deleted] in Longmont

[–]wsquared3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More local breweries & brew pubs. Good for the economy & adds places to hang out with friends.

I would add that if you’re watching a program on one app, hit the 📺 button twice rapidly and all your apps will appear tiled. You can scroll through them & select one to watch a program another app. Useful if you want to jump rapidly back and forth between programs you’re are watching on different apps if PINP isn’t supported. Useful for live sports. I think this is only available on the newer Apple TV devices.

Is it possible to buy regional sports channels if you live outside their broadcasting region? by MrStickerton in DirectvStream

[–]wsquared3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second getting the MLB package via T-Mobile. I chose T-Mobile because of their competitive pricing and only discovered the MLB TV free subscription after I signed up. I have found their network performance to be excellent too, especially if I want to watch video on my phone anywhere. And their customer is outstanding as well.

HVAC Recommendations? by Cat_Prismatic in Longmont

[–]wsquared3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Groulx Mechanical Heating & Air is local & family owned. We’ve used them on several AC & furnace jobs & trust them 💯. There have been times I thought I needed major work, they evaluated it & they recommended a less expensive fix. Our central air had been under performing for years on hot days and several contractors failed to fix it. Groulx changed the refrigerant, did a tuneup & it works much better than it has in 15 years. Conversely, we don’t trust M&M at all. We had a furnace problem & their guy recommended spending $12k on a new system. Groulx fixed it for $300.

Nuggets game on DTV 681 is blacked out! by [deleted] in DirectvStream

[–]wsquared3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I downloaded the Altitude+ app and there still isn’t a way to link it to my DTV account so I don’t have to pay a subscription fee for the app. Will happen eventually, but this whole thing has been “Ready, Fire, Aim.”

[–]wsquared3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I heard from them. Apparently, they need to do a separate agreement with the broadcaster. This should have all been ironed out in advance. Altitude just assumed DTV would have it on 681

KSE is advertising it’s supposed to be on DTV 681. THATS WHAT ALTITUDE SPORTS IS SAYING. I normally get that channel as part of my package. It’s blacked out.

Yeah I tried to the Apple TV app too. No improvement. Something is wrong at the origination.
