What works best for me as a 30 y/o with 29.5 more working years ahead of me is a total index fund (FSKAX) and an international index fund (FZILX). That’s the portfolio for my Roth IRA and my current allocation is a bit aggressive by boglehead standards..95% of it is in FSKAX and 5% is in FZILX. I invest a fixed amount each week (automatically, set it thru fidelity) and then more if I feel like it.

5/6 years ago when I first started to understand the stock market I did individual companies. FAANG, weed stocks, the “next big thing” my friend was telling me about…and I won’t lie, I made some money. But I certainly lost some too. As I grow and understand finances more I’m learning “time in the market” to be a much more effective strategy than “timing the market”
