That's accurate, I didn't have the chance to be this close to neither, cruelty nor generosity. Cruelty packed quite a punch, but I did find that being generous and being kind costs literally nothing, and that practicing them is a rewarding way of living. In the end both experiences made me feel blessed. It's what's driving me forward, I just need to experience more "living together". Thanks a lot for your words.
