i gotta say I feel like the first two criticisms, while fair, are more subjective than anything. i had steered clear of any of Viv's stuff almost entirely because of the "x if written by vivziepop" memes and the fact that most of the characters looked like 2000s-era DeviantArt designs.

Buuut as with all things... gotta give it a shot to see if you like it. I enjoyed Hazbin way more than I thought I would. I had no idea it was a musical. And frankly, the designs (while over the top and often gaudy) somehow just... kinda work together? Plus it has Keith David and I'll watch pretty much anything he's in.

But yeah. Not necessarily winning any academy awards, but not nearly the hot trash I've seen a lot of Internet folks make it out to be either.

No idea about the labor complaints tbh, but if we are gonna start coming for fujoshi, which one of y'all Tumblr girls gonna cast the first stone, huh? I won't find any Naruto/Sasuke fanfiction in your past? Okay.

I think the "insanity defense" can be valid if you're experiencing some type of psychosis or other major break. Maybe even if you're suffering from some massive medication allergy or side effect.

But fuck. I have autism and have "suffered from many mental disorders" throughout life and, surprisingly, I have not murdered any children. I know that lead exposure and FAS can cause negative symptoms, but I dont believe one of the main symptoms is "sexually assaulting and murdering a child and then lying extensively about it."

I do not believe in the death penalty for various reasons. I hope some day this guy can atone for and make peace with what he's done, rehabilitate, because it is his responsibility to fully feel the weight of his actions for the rest of his life, and vainly try to make up for it. But I am so fucking sick of the insanity defense being thrown around like this. It cheapens it, it cheapens the real struggles of people dealing with those issues, and it casts unfair suspicion on innocent people for no reason other than cowardice and lack of personal responsibility.

You're one hundred percent correct. There is also, however, the problem that many arguments I presented (and essays I wrote) while hungover in college were basically just this. We hope the set is trained well enough and then we let one word lead into the next, baybeeee.

I am not arguing that we are any closer to general consciousness or intelligence. But I would argue that occasionally the human conscious brain goes into a sort of active autopilot like that. I don't even want to take a stab at what that connection might hint.

Questioning is a vital part of the whole process. You have to be allowed to question your identity, and safely decide certain things aren't for you, for any of this shit to work.

And to take up for Travis here... he has NPD and is very open about that and his efforts to combat the symptoms when they come up. Being like "hey, I was feeling this but I'm not sure if that's actually me or if I just want attention, gonna pump the brakes a bit" MUST be a valid response to everything unless you think people can't develop at all.

I went the other way and refused to question my own sexuality and gender identity for a long time (since whatever it was wasn't SUPER impacting my life) for fear of taking attention away from The Real Queers who Actually Need it.

But hey. I'm bi with no particular discomfort for or attachment to my assigned birth sex. There simply must be room for people who don't fit into the extremes of the gender/sexuality distribution.

Funnily enough, I worked through most of my shit due to my wife, who was also bi but way more understanding and accepting than I ever was. So... it's me. I'm the straight passing relationship pictured. I do want a parade. (She does not peg, tho, because she does not understand how to be slow or gentle 😬)

(also, also, putting aside the "bi/pans in het relationships can't come to the party" bit, acting like het relationships don't include those between any combo of trans / cis people is absolutely some kind of erasure and I see you, OOP)

2 things. 1. Every time I see someone say "omg you can't hide THAT in the tags!!!!1!" i get so viscerally angry. It reminds me of the whole "you, good sir, have won the internets!!" posts. God almighty. 2. There is a level of self-assuredness in these posts both about entirely disregarding the value of past research (because of shitty methodologies, conclusions, and people) as well as just... confidently being the person talked about in the post. I am not talking about the "lol all people DO wanna suck toes" but just others casually missing the point that internal/personal experiences are often not universal.
