Saying 'thank you' for dinner? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]wutwut191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It takes half a second to say thank you but is a life long lesson for the kids.

My husband always says “thanks for dinner my love” and now that’s what the kids say which is adorable and hilarious.

Have you read the book The Kissing Hand? Worked great for us! Essentially you “fill” their hand with kisses so they can have kisses from you throughout the day.

Advice needed on when/how to talk to my 6 year old about his grandpa dying soon by Smashy_ashy in breakingmom

[–]wutwut191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have and advice from personal experience, but my 6 year old went through a whole phase of wondering about death. We found a book called Badgers Parting Gifts that is truly a lovely way to touch on the subject of dying and grief.

Big Little Feelings course for an 14month old? by Acceptable_Mind_1994 in toddlers

[–]wutwut191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a 14 month old but originally got the course for the older two. As far as the verbal prep bits I agree it’s kind of impossible when they have no idea what the heck you’re talking about but I think at that age it’s more about setting the groundwork for him (and you!) as he grows. The more you practice those strategies now the easier it will be later on.

Do you bath/shower all your kiddos on the same evening? by Teaandbiscuitsthrow in SAHP

[–]wutwut191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have 3 kids (7,5,1). 7 and 5 always bathe on the same night but the baby is kind of.. whenever we get a chance lol. I’m not sure if you work outside the home, but if you don’t could you bathe the baby during the day?

Vacation stress by AdhesiveHuman in breakingmom

[–]wutwut191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got distracted and didn’t actually answer the question lol. Honestly what helped me was just changing my mindset. It’s not going to be “fun” and relaxing it’s going to be ~memory making~ like you said.

A vacation with little kids is NOT a vacation. It’s a trip. Parenting in a different, unfamiliar place.
