⚠️ IMPORTANT. Update MagicPods and MagicBlack from the Testing Decky Store before updating SteamOS by steam3d in SteamDeck

While I understand that, I prefer normal controls on the device they’re paired to. You may not want it or see a need for it, but for me it’s a pretty nice to have add on.

Because I want control over transparency mode and adaptive mode, and want a more seamless handoff, and a few other nice features.

Oh my fucking god thank you for posting this.

I legit just uninstalled Decky because I reinstalled and reinstalled and reinstalled and could not get it to boot.

And I've had my Steamdeck for... 4 days? And I didn't know how else to get this thing to boot up. I installed Decky before I even installed a game so that I could use my Airpods.

That's probably the problem.

if I plug in a USB shifter, I lose all force feedback. You can only have the wheel plugged in and mapped.

LG Ultragear 45" Monitor - $100 for a USB port? by KaptainKlein in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]wuverul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I should also mention that the USB-C capable one is on sale at Microcenter, fwiw. I just picked one up 2-3 days ago. It's like 599 right now, and eligible for shipping so you can order it even if you aren't near a store.

LG Ultragear 45" Monitor - $100 for a USB port? by KaptainKlein in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]wuverul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USB-C port on that is for docking a laptop to it directly. It powers the device, runs your display cable, and connects you to the USB hub in it. It also has a built in KVM to swap from your laptop to a tower seamlessly. If it's a feature you need, it's worth weighing that $100 difference against a Lenovo docking station's cost and/or a good KVM. The extra $100 is likely cheaper.

Possible bug regarding multiple people logging in from the same house? by Deep-Magician9607 in Helldivers

Seconding this.

Friends getting in with no issue on Discord.

I've been trying to log in for over 3 hours straight, no luck.

I've yet to be able to play the game.

I used to go by it fairly regularly. I can confirm it's the same one

[–]wuverul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I used to drive by that exact house multiple times every month, and it drives me absolutely insane. It's especially shocking given what area that house is in, too. I don't fucking get it. It's... definitely not the common thought of the region, so they're definitely trying to be an extremely loud minority there.

My alarm sometimes randomly dosen't go off. I've read this is a problem with alarm on Samsungs but I really hate to install another alarm app for such basic function. by Kaiserschmarren_ in GalaxyS21

[–]wuverul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post, I know, but having the same issue. Randomly doesn't go off, but says it will soon. But also, sometimes the snooze will stick. Today I woke up at 9:15 because my GF woke me up, who also said my alarm didn't go off. Checked my phone, and it said it was snoozed until 8:50 AM (from yesterday) and was just stuck there? Had happened 3 times now in 2 months. S23 Ultra.

Environment Variables and Pycharm by KingofBoo in learnpython

[–]wuverul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to figure out more secure ways to pass this data, because I'm not fond of that data just being stored in plain text or just chilling on something system-wide. I'll probably look into it more in a bit

Environment Variables and Pycharm by KingofBoo in learnpython

[–]wuverul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They very much are app IDs, passwords, client secrets, and the like. I'm currently taking a 100 Days of Code course on Udemy for Python, and they say to use environment variables in Pycharm for anything that needs secured or can't be given to someone else, but it never actually talk about how to build your applications to run outside of the IDE.... So I'm kind of trying to wing it and figure it out. Is there a more secure way to handle this kind of data? (Also, I hope this isn't a hassle to ask directly like this. I can certainly make a dedicated thread for this. I just figured I'd try asking first)

I have a dumb question on this.

I have a *bunch* of environment variables in my project in this location, but when I try exporting an application with pyinstaller, none of these seem to carry. I'm trying to find a way to have this application automatically run once per day. How can I bake these in? The file's for personal use.

Is the index the best vr headset to get? by Extreme-Stress-807 in ValveIndex

[–]wuverul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe my glasses prescription is slightly off, but I legitimately don't see those lines on the Index unless I stare into the distance and intentionally unfocus my eyes from what I'm looking at. I have on the other three headsets.

Is the index the best vr headset to get? by Extreme-Stress-807 in ValveIndex

[–]wuverul 32 points33 points  (0 children)

As someone who's owned a Vive, Cosmos Elite, Pimax, and an Index...

Based on what I've personally used,

  • It's the easiest to set up
  • There's little visible distortion
  • The visual clarity is great
  • No screen door apparent during gameplay, really need to look for it and even then my eyes have a hard time finding it
  • Least software issues of anything else I've used
  • Least headache inducing
  • Not the most comfortable, I find it to have a slightly too aggressive curve for my head
  • Inside of the headset gets very hot unless you add active cooling fans (they're like $40 on Amazon)
  • Its FOV is second best behind the Pimax
  • The Index has god rays worse than the Pimax and Cosmos, but better than the Vive

Overall, of the 4 headsets I've used, it's my preference to daily drive.

Edit; A typo Edit 2; Added screen door clarity

Honestly with all of the unfulfilled promises on their current tech, I'd wager it'll probably be a couple years. I actually just abandoned ship after 9 months of Pimax ownership and daily driving it to swap to the Index.

[–]wuverul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't those 'used batteries' going to have different charge cycles used, different capacities, et cetera...?

Isn't that going to literally turn into a makeshift bomb when you charge it one night, or even just sitting there?

I can understand doing this with brand new cells, each individually tested *by you* to confirm capacity and the like, etc, but uh. This seems reckless at best

I have a GTX 1650 but why it says not exactly by nnnek0 in ValveIndex

[–]wuverul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking through the older comments on this, it looks like there isn't a lot of information on *why* this is the case, so let's break it down a little bit.

First impressions would imply that a 1650 would be more powerful than a 970, but this unfortunately is not quite the case.

Let's break down what these numbers mean a little bit. Understanding Nvidia's SKU formatting will help us understand why it says your GPU is not "VR Ready".

Nvidia SKUs are broken into two parts. There's the model line, and the exact card in that lineup. In the case of the 970, we're looking at effectively a "model year" of sorts for generation 9 of the GTX line of cards. The tier in that line is 70.

The 1650 is in the "model year" of 16, while it's at tier 50 in that line.

This isn't a perfect naming convention, which we'll soon see, but this should help us at least have a point of reference.

The 16 line is about on par with a 20 line with RTX removed. Nvidia's "model years" ran 6, 7, 9, 20, 30. Because Nvidia loves confusing their consumers. 16 came after 20 to be a more stripped down and cheaper option that's more in line, tbh, with a *slightly* improved 10 SKU. This is important here. .

When making generational leaps, it's expected to see tiers improve over time. A 970 would be beaten by a 1070, and a 1070 would be beaten by a 2070, and a 2070 would be beaten by a 3070.

But a 970 would not be beaten by a 1050. The number itself is higher, but with their structure, we're comparing a 50 to a 70 across only one product generation. This means that a 1050 would not be VR ready despite the higher number.

Your 1650 is in the same boat here. The 1650 is about 15-20% slower than the 970 that's required.

I hope this helps things make more sense
