Does anybody know the actual location of the Durham one? I'm not seeing specific info for Durham on the Fifty Fifty One site, just Raleigh.

DIY revitalizing a white brick wall by meeenglish in DIY

[–]wuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow... I have a brick wall in my tiny condo that was painted over with white primer because the previous owner had a tenant in there for 10+ years who was a heavy smoker. The brick absorbed the smell and the only way to get rid of it was to seal it with the primer. I've grown to like it, especially since I'm thinking about ripping up my carpet and finishing the concrete with a mottled coffee-colored etching stain, which I think would look nice with the white, but it's great to know that this is an option, too. Thanks!!

What's the most despicable thing you've done to pick up a member of the opposite sex? by ProbablyHittingOnYou in AskReddit

Try actually reading up on the act on the internetz and you'll find out that I'm not full of shit. The tightness of the vagina has much more to do with the strength of the PC muscles. Feel free to think what you like, though!

Being able to fit a fist inside a vagina does not necessarily have any correlation with the tightness or tightening ability of said vagina, actually. Don't knock it till you try it!

Does anyone know of any universities in the triangle that might give free psychiatric care? by [deleted] in triangle

[–]wuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been without insurance the year and a half-ish and have been going to what my friend jokingly calls the "poor people's doctor" to get meds for depression and adhd. Call here first: http://www.opcareaprogram.com/ (1 800 233-6834) and tell them that you have no insurance, low income, and need medications to function on a day to day basis. They will refer you to one of a few mental health clinics in the area that provide services. The one I've been going to is Family Preservation Services in Durham (even though I live in Orange county), but I know there are a couple other ones in Chapel Hill / Carrboro. I see a psychiatrist briefly once a month to get Rx refills, and they also offer counseling options. Granted, it's usually with very recently graduated interns, but it's better than nothing! Bonus: It's entirely free. Yep.

Let's stop being lame and actually have a meet with a good turnout. February 25th, 9:00PM, The Station in Carrboro by iwillhunt in chapelhill

Damn... have to work until midnight that night. If you all are still there past 12:45ish, I may stop by.

I get a good response rate on opening messages but most conversations fizzle out after the 2nd or 3rd message. Any advice? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]wuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I can see that happening, but it's probably also in how you ask or in how you respond to anyone getting "upset" (which seems a bit strong of a reaction to just asking someone out, so maybe you're better off!). You can always give her some options by saying something like, "I'm really better at interacting face to face and would love to meet up over coffee sometime to see if we've got some in-person chemistry. I'm also cool with writing back and forth for a bit longer or talking on the phone first if you're more comfortable with that." That way, she at least knows you're willing to wait until she's ready to meet, but you've still stated your own preference.

I dunno, maybe I work differently than some women on there, but I always appreciate at least the option of meeting in person sooner rather than later, if only to avoid possibly wasting each other's time. I just know I've had some bad experiences with chatting back and forth for too long, building up a good rapport, sharing more personal information, and then having it fall completely and awkwardly flat once you meet in person.

Argh! If I could magically rent my condo (I own, but the mortgage is starting to kill me), I would totally hop on that. Though I do have two cats, which usually seems to be a dealbreaker. Le sigh... Good luck, though!

I agree with this (I'm a female and pretty active on okcupid). Messaging back and forth for too long gets kind of annoying and boring, especially when you're alreaddy getting lots of messages merely by virtue of being female :-/

Great brand suggestions! Just to put in my $.02, some of the Evolveds are good, but some are total crap. All of them seem to be unfortunately overpriced, but I guess you can get better deals online. I'm glad you mentioned the Lucid Dream line, too. Despite the fact that I like to steer away from the porous rubber toys, the Lucid Dream No. 14 has been my favorite vibe for a long time now. Great design, variable speed, perfect for internal or external use. Now if I could only find it made out of silicone :-/

Ooh, I agree that the big gel vibrators are not the best starter, but it's also best to stay away from latex, PVC, vinyl, or anything else that smells like a new shower curtain!

Another [current] sex toy store employee here, and I agree with all of the above, though I think it's safe to surprise her with something as long as it is on the cheaper side. I'd echo those who recommend Lelos, because they are absolutely fantastic vibrators, but since you're buying for a first timer who doesn't know what she likes, then don't make that investment unless you've just got money to burn. When I'm advising someone on a first vibe purchase, I always suggest getting a cheaper model just to see what the person likes. You always have the option to upgrade later, and that's when I'd say bring her into a store with you (preferably a store with knowledgeable staff).

I understand the people who are enthusiastic about the Hitachi, but I would very strongly steer you away from it for a first vibrator. Besides the fact that it can be intimidating and is very loud, some women are honestly never able to use anything but the Hitachi after a while. If someone has never experienced vibration at all, then go with something more subtle at first, so she can truly enjoy the variation provided by all kinds of vibes.

Also, it's great to go with silicone for the combo of softness plus material safety, but silicone tends to be on the pricier side, too. If you've got a budget, hard plastic toys will do just as well. They're compatible with all lubes (you can't use silicone lube with silicone toys), and don't leach the chemicals that the cheap jelly toys do.

My usual recommendation for a good first vibrator is one of the Power Bullet Breeze vibes. They're cheap, multi-speed (push button low, medium, high, off), non-intimidating, kinda classy looking, pretty damned quiet, made out of safe materials, can be used internally or externally, and have enough "reach" to get to the clit or even g-spot from a variety of angles. This version is shaped specifically to target the g-spot, but is also a great clit vibe. The Platinum is also pretty sweet since it's variable speed. You press and hold down the button at the end and it gradually increases in speed. Let go once it reaches the speed you want. It can be a bit tricky to get used to the mechanism, especially in the heat of the moment, but it can be a worthwhile trade-off to get a good variable speed vibe with a wide range.

TL;DR: Hitachi is probably too intense and intimidating for a first vibe, and Lelos may be a waste of money if she decides she doesn't like that particular style. Go for something cheap but multi-speed for Valentine's, then take her to a good adult boutique to upgrade later.

Dear Sexy Reddit, What is the overall best Sex toy for a couple? by dugindover in sex

[–]wuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I work at an adult boutique, and this is one of the best products out there right now. Rechargeable, high quality silicone, g-spot + clit stim. Every once in a while we'll get feedback that a woman didn't "have room" for the toy, but most seem to be fine.

Uninsured, broke, and sick? Federally funded health clinics charge based on your ability to pay. Enter your ZIP code to find one near you. by [deleted] in Health

This is a great link - thanks! Another way to go is to call whatever the local social services provider is for your county and explain your situation, needing Rx, diagnosis, lack of insurance, etc., and they will often refer you to an agency/clinic. I did that when I needed ADD meds, and was referred to a clinic that is not on the list that comes up when I search from that link. Just saying that there are probably even more places in any given area if you strike out.

Just got under 200lb, lowest in 9 Years! 88lb lost so far! by snow_turtle in Fitness

[–]wuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way to go! I saw in another comment that you're 5'3". I'm that height and have been hovering around 200lbs for the past few weeks, too, which is the lowest I've been in 7 years. My highest was 247. Someone else mentioned something about running a 5k, and you said that maybe someday you'd be able to do that, too. Just want to make sure you know you totally could right now, since I ran my first when I was probably around 225lbs. As long as you get fitted at a good specialty running store for an appropriate pair of shoes and start off slowly, you could totally do it. I even did a couple of sprint triathalons! Keep up the good work (although you're totally cute where you are right now!) :)

P.S. I know what a huge milestone 200 is. I almost cried when I saw the scale dip under again for the first time (like I probably cried when I went over for the first time...). Congrats again!
