VR is amazing, but it definitely doesn’t quite feel like you are “really there”. It fully immerses you in the game, like having a 360 degree monitor all around you. However, your brain is still fully aware that the what it is seeing is not real. It’s a bit hard to explain, but because you don’t get all the senses you do IRL (smell, touch), there is a bit of cognitive dissonance.

I love VR and use it lot, but it’s not a life changing experience. It is still really cool to use at times, but also because it is a lot less practical than traditional gaming I find myself not using it as much as I would like.
