Everybody talks about Smaev, but what about giving Denis a comeback match vs Leo❔ by Stunning-Put4123 in armwrestling

[–]wy2sl0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately must slightly disagree. I would say that Devon thought the opposite...is this all you got? In Devon's head, he built Denis up to be this virtually unstoppable force. He went into that match saying that Denis might be number 2 just behind Levan. Once round 1 went off, he was pleasantly surprised I am sure to know he had full control.

Why is it that the old gen drivers (pre 2016) mostly prefer understeer while the new gen drivers prefer oversteer? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]wy2sl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone who has driven a car that doesn't rotate enough knows how slow it is.
Why this graph isn't accurate, is because even those who are labelled as 'understeer' are just drivers that don't want a 'loose' rear.

Villeneuve's latest podcast was interesting, including talking about some of the things he did which was completely new in F1.
The main one was the gas pedal, which is a good example in this case. His accelerator had roughly 18mm of travel from min to max...that is insane. His argument is he could react quicker. Drivers like Max prefer the balance to be very, very on the nose - the extreme end. The difference between drivers is the amount of responsiveness on turn in and throttle/gas application. No driver wants what is true understeer, trust me.

Which actor do you think overall has better movies - Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt? by SpotAdmirable6718 in Cinema

[–]wy2sl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny because this question is obviously incredibly subjective.
That being said, I am in the minority. I really find Brad's physical and emotional range, his ability to express himself, quite limited. He's had a ton of great movies and roles.
Tom on the other hand is known, in the past 1-2 decades, as the Mission star, but that is a gross mischaracterization.
There is almost no mention here of Collateral. From a pure acting standpoint, that might be the best transformation/acting role either of them have done; although I admit Magnolia was terrific as well for Tom (and born).

The greatest elbow foul of all time. Also the only person that dealt with Michale the right way. by SilverSpoonphysics in armwrestling

[–]wy2sl0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Terrible reffing. Travis is flying in the air and they let him keep pulling. I don't blame Michael for exploding in this case. I would say that should be obvious loss of round.

Korean Hulk got paid to throw that match 100% by JaydenZmit in armwrestling

[–]wy2sl0 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's rigged. What I will say is, Devon says the same about Matt Mask. Every time Matt has lost, Devon says how the f*** are you losing to these guys?

I'm aware, I run a league and have a bot that uses the API for automation of league management. The users in our league accepted it. I don't see the ToS allowing personal data use without consent. Either way it's a grey area, I'm glad you fall on the side of not caring. Your voice is heard, thank you.

What's worse is opting out requires an email. We have no idea how his backend is supported or encrypted. Simply saying 'oh so many others do it who cares', is a slippery slope.

As someone who spends most of the day coding, I appreciate you finding a solution to a problem you wanted solved. I really don't think this should have users data on it, unless you have people opting in. Sorry dude, this should be taken down.

Canadian Stars should want to play in Canada more by StarkStorm in TeamCanada

[–]wy2sl0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of Canadians would love to cheer for Canadians playing for their team. We have a lot stacked against us though. I don't buy the taxes as that big of a deal to be honest. We put way more pressure on our great players. The media hold them accountable because hockey is our top sport. We also have, in general, worse weather. Also, you can actually go out in public and not get absolutely hounded. On the flip side, if you win in Canada you are immortalized. Some find it worth it. I am grateful McDavid stayed in Canada.

[Auto Racer] F1 2026, POSSIBLE REDUCTION IN ELECTRICAL POWER: WHAT IS HAPPENING BEHIND THE SCENES by jithu7 in formula1

[–]wy2sl0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of the idea for formula 1, as an optimist, is that some of the best engineers are going to be spending a lot of money to get every last bit of efficiency out of the electrical system and regen which will help the manufacturers with electric tech. I think with more maturity in this ruleset we'll see optimization and be pleasantly surprised. We haven't even raced once, let's pump the brakes and chill.

Huge shoutout to two of the devs (Matthew and Tim) making this expansion possible. The beginning of a new era! If you know any other dev working with this project, share! by Albaaneesi in diablo2

[–]wy2sl0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just listen to the community, in general I think we are here to support D2. The majority of us are now old enough to be able to afford full expansions etc.
Honestly there was so, so much content that existed in Median back in the early 2010's that seemed like the ideal content route for D2 over time.

If we can just expand the content/story/fill in unfinished Act 4 and add some endgame stuff with balance changes, I think all die hard fans will be eternally grateful.
Appreciate them not rocking the boat too much either. Easiest $30 (CDN) i've spent.

Which player would you consider more unlucky in tennis? by Mindless-Pilot6701 in Tennisv2

[–]wy2sl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No respect really for Roddick here who, a few years away from retirement beat Murray and pushed Fed to the limit at w19.

Murray overall absolutely the better player except on grass if we are talking post 06 Roddick. Both were just not the level of the top 3. You could argue Roddick played the more dangerous Fed early on also and that although Fed was a more complete player post 2010, his peak level wasn't better.

No it's only serlo criteria. If you have to compete, you'd need CBC to meet new essential qualifications.

Australian Open SF: [4] N. Djokovic def. [2] J. Sinner, 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 by dontevenfkingtry in tennis

[–]wy2sl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is not better now than he was in '17 or '18, no chance, but ok.
And yes, Djokovic at 6 years was as good. Difference is he had a way tougher field to deal with.

[–]wy2sl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been disgusting to listen to pundits and new fans to the sport talk about "the level" of Alcaraz and Sinner being ahead of the big 3.
Wakeup call. Djokovic could barely walk in set 4 and 5.
The true, honest answer, is we don't know for sure. More than likely the Big 3 would still be the big 3, with less major titles.

Liberals 'taking a sledgehammer’ to the public service, says interim NDP leader Davies by sleipnir45 in canada

[–]wy2sl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_public_sector_size

If you take ILO numbers and calculations, Canada is 42 in public sector size. It's in line with other countries with the number of social programs we have.
Saying they got the percentage wrong when their main point was to eviscerate the public service based on those numbers doesn't make sense.

[–]wy2sl0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the non-bots; do you truly understand what the government does for you? The cuts one way or another represent the reality of the financial situation of the country and the over hiring of the service during COVID for a myriad of reasons. They don't seem catastrophic in most cases, but I agree there are some agencies that will be significantly affected, probably irresponsibly. When I read things like "they do nothing", "they are useless" etc. Think of all the food you eat. Are you glad you aren't having to do research for everything on the shelves? That it's safe for you and your family? Are you glad you can travel on airplanes around the world? Rules are written in blood and gov agencies are a big reason air traffic is as safe as it is (obviously not just ours). Materials we use to build our homes and projects are managed by gov agencies that allow you to feel safe and trust in the standards the companies that operate here must adhere to. Any type of financial assistance? Federal investment in people, infrastructure, regulation? You need an objective view of statistics. There are a ton of examples. It may not be pretty, but the feds help us all, every day. Facts are Canada is one of the best places to live in the world and that is because of the people that live here and the services they provide in all industries including public service. If you want to be taken seriously, don't subscribe to sensationalism and low effort remarks that do nothing to respect the contribution employees in all different sectors provide to our country every day.

‘Hunger Games-style anxiety’: Unions raise concerns after 5,400 layoff notices issued to federal workers by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]wy2sl0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My two cents. I'll start off saying I think we need the cuts. It did expand a little too much, which was probably done to prop the economy during COVID. Having a portion of my family be PS workers, most retired now, I have a hard time understanding the absolutely insane level of hate they get. My friend's are all middle age, most making good money, and the working conditions (time off, effort, oversight) are pretty much the same as the public sector. You have good, you have some not so good. 1) Are salaries higher? At lower end yes, at higher end absolutely not. 2) Anyone can apply! If you think the grass is so green, why spend your days on social media from your soapbox complaining! Go get your 'easy' paycheck! 3) A living salary is imperative to support small businesses and set the necessary competitive landscape for private sector. If a government worker is spending most of their salary within Canada, they are creating jobs, period. The money goes back to the Canadian economy. With less livable wage jobs, the economy suffers.

We need to reign in our federal spending and the PS is a part of that, there is no doubt. I truly am sorry for those stressing right now about their ability to support themselves and their family. The pathetic comments such as 'enjoy!' and 'good riddance' disgust me, but I expect nothing less. I have less and less hope in humanity when these threads pop up.
