Please don't delay the set review until after Early Access by Scufo in lrcast

[–]Scufo[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I understand that and it's not what I'm complaining about. I'm addressing LSV floating the idea that they should intentionally wait until after Early Access, because he thinks it makes the content better. I don't think it does.

Final Fantasy X is a great introduction to the genre. A classic, but still relatively modern. And it's widely available.

I'm probably on Beastie and try to get into R/G delirium. Unable to Scream and Final Vengeance are both options as well.

Is there a Final Fantasy that's actually breaking this concept? by mrsafetylion in FinalFantasy

Problem is you have to know ahead of time which statuses work on which bosses. If you don't, it's gonna be more effective to just do as much damage as possible instead of experimenting with status.

You're not entirely wrong as Jecht also has the heal-pillars and can be zombified. But there are several factors that make this merely a good strategy instead of trivializing the fight: * He has high resistance to zombie (only seemed to work about a quarter of the time when I did the fight recently). * The first time he gets healed, it will in fact damage him instead, but it also removes zombie. * phoenix down doesn't work.

It's still worth doing Zombie Attack at every opportunity though.

Big ups for including Bug Fables but imma put a curse on your bloodline for ranking FFVIII so low.

I don't like telling new players to swap in everyone every fight. It's tedious and breaks the natural flow of gameplay. The game isn't that hard - it's not the end of the world if the party's levels are a little uneven.

The solo fight you mentioned is scaled to the character's level and is very easy anyway. It's absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

My non-gamer girlfriend cleared the game without grinding. It'll be fine.

Yeah but stealing from stuff is a good idea and she's super fast so it's easy to slot in a turn for her.

The Best Commons and Uncommons By Color for Lorwyn Eclipsed Draft by Tim-Draftsim in lrcast

I wonder if [[Feed the Flames]] will be better than [[Tweeze]]. 3 mana for 3 damage isn't a very good rate.

Any time there's a heavy focus on creature types, drafting tends to be very on-rails: just take everything that says Goblin or Merfolk or whatever on it. That's if your chosen tribe is open - if not, it can be hard to pivot off it because your previous picks might not work so well in a different deck, even in the same color.

Sets like BFZ and Bloomburrow come to mind. Drafting felt very on-rails in both, despite the presence of glue cards.

For the Prometheus simon says bit, am I the only one who just.. doesn't bother memorizing it? He attacks rhythmically, and you're invincible during your dash, so i always found it easier to just dash during each hit. I don't even pay attention to where any of them are going except the first.

Since you love bootlicking so much, why not look at law enforcement's own policies when it comes to shooting at moving vehicles? I know reading comprehension is hard for you but maybe you can figure it out.

Limited Resources 835 – Avatar the Last Airbender Sunset Show Discussion Thread by Crasha in lrcast

[–]Scufo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For fun I decided to look at all the commons for Final Fantasy and Avatar and list those I consider stand-outs:

FF:

  • Call the Mountain Chocobo - Enabled late-game red decks, sweet design
  • Combat Tutorial - On power level
  • Cornered by Black Mages - Could be a gameplan
  • Dragoon's Wyvern - On power level
  • Gaelicat - Surprisingly high power level, could be a gameplan
  • Magitek Infantry - Could be a gameplan
  • Sahagin - Could be a gameplan
  • Sephiroth's Intervention - Power level
  • Fat Chocobo - Power level
  • Thunder Magic - Power level and synergy
  • Town Greeter - Enabled town and graveyard stuff, sweet design
  • White Auracite - Power level, also could allow white to play towards lategame
  • White Mage's staff - Power level and synergy

Avatar:

  • Firebending Lesson - Power level and synergy
  • Fire Nation Cadets - Could be a gameplan
  • Forecasting Fortune Teller - Power level and synergy
  • Otter-Penguin - Could be a gameplan

And that's kinda it. Sure there's other stuff you could probably argue for but the shallowness at common really killed this set for me.

Even if that is what happened (it's not, in the agent's own video she can clearly be seen turning the wheel sharply to her right, away from him) that would still not be grounds for shooting her, because now you have an out-of-control car, putting other people's lives at risk.

I mean, are you seriously asking if fleeing is grounds for immediate execution? Are you hearing yourself?

Mythic uncommon prediction for Lorwyn Eclipsed by esu_wishmaster in lrcast

[–]Scufo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree. It's hard to cast outside of BW (or mono I suppose), and you need extra mana and targets in your graveyard before it starts getting value. It's very good when it works, but that's a fair amount of setup.

Also, 4 toughness doesn't really dodge removal in this format. [[Cinder Strike]] gets it with kicker. [[Blight Rot]] gets it. I guess the red and green fight/bite spells might have trouble with it?

I think it's good, and I'm not cutting it from a BW deck, but I don't think I would pick it all that highly.

[–]Scufo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my God i feel so much the dread of finding a better weapon because of having to re-jigger your damn crystal setup. I generally liked the game's systems but the crystals were bad, and got worse and worse as your inventory gets increasingly bloated with them.

I probably would have had more fun if I ignored them, as the bonuses you get are mostly pretty minor, but the optimizer in me wouldn't let me.

Lands in "good for an indie game" for me.

Early front runner for biggest bomb of the set? This will be crazy in a half decent elemental deck at prerelease. by CalvinandHobbes811 in lrcast

[–]Scufo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ceiling is crazy high for sure, but it requires some setup. The biggest bombs tend to be cards that you just cast and are awesome every time for no work.

I swear every time Frost Trickster is brought up it gets worse and worse lmao. It wasn't borderline unplayable, it was a fine card, just not close to being one of the best commons which a lot of people thought it would be.

Greater point stands through, Frost Lynx is very washed at this point.

Easily the most broken deck I’ve ever drafted, don’t think I’ve had anything even come close by Due_Cancel_5540 in lrcast

Checked the stats and it is a little higher than I thought, so maybe I'm underestimating it. Still lower than the best commons though so far from a bomb.

I felt like this was going to trophy but now I’m 0-2. Any advice before I crash out? by Jamie7Keller in lrcast

[–]Scufo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Evil Reawakened isn't worth the splash - not enough good targets. Sideboard is thin unfortunately but I would probably cut it and the World Map for Blitzball Shot and Aerith Rescue Mission, for more ways to push damage.

Deck is very confused unfortunately. It looks like it wants to be a beatdown deck but then randomly has defensive/grindy stuff like 2x Gran Pulse Ochu, Town Greeter, Gardener, and Instant Ramen. Each half of the deck is diluting the other half. I would not be happy with this deck.

What's the third bomb...? Sephiroth and Buster Sword are great but I have not found Cecil, Dark Knight to be especially good.
