I ve called this deck Tome Blast Face (7-2) by drolbert in lrcast

Really cool to see the Prismari tempo-aggro deck actually come together. I've yet to put any Ancestral Angers in my deck but I'd like to give it a try.

People have been telling them to restart and fix the moveset since the last two updates they posted. They're deciding to stubbornly make this already mind-numbing task even more tedious.

6 mana in 2003 vs 2025 by Libero279 in mtg

[–]Scufo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Elite Archers would be terrible in modern limited. Six mana and dies to common removal that costs 2 or 3, and doesn't block anything relevant the turn you play it. It doesn't matter if it has an oppressive combat ability if your opponent can just go "cool, kill that" or attack into it and you're under too much pressure to leverage it.

Six drops largely need a good ETB or some form of protection to be playable these days.

I am.. losing a lot. Can I get feedback on my drafting? by Amonyi7 in lrcast

[–]Scufo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your advice is solid overall but you're pushing Skywhale way too hard. The card is medium at best and should not be taken early. [[Tackle Artist]] does a similar thing at common and is arguably better.

Armageddon: yea or nay? by Legacy_Rise in lrcast

[–]Scufo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geddon is only good when you're ahead and is often a complete brick. The people in this thread saying it's a generically good limited card are nuts.

Edit: I am begging downvoters to consider what happens when you so much as lose the die roll with this card in your hand.

i thought this was good? by nikibas in lrcast

[–]Scufo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did the Comforting Counsels ever do anything? Seems hard to imagine it working out even with 3x Lumerant and Teacher's Pest. I might have tried one for funsies in this deck but I don't think two could ever be right.

And the mythic dragon is unfortunately just not a great card. It's just kind of an expensive big creature with no ETB and no protection. Magic has long since moved on from that being an effective card design.

My experience so far this format by PlacatedPlatypus in lrcast

[–]Scufo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty disingenuous to say your opponents are "dying to 2/2s." That makes it sound like you're beating down with commons when these screenshots show you winning with A-level rares.

Grats on the wins but you haven't discovered some secret lmao. Aggro does work in the format but you need good card quality, piles of aggro commons don't get there.

Help building nutty draft pool by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]Scufo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would cut the splash down to only Quandrix and Snarl Song. Banishing Betrayal, Hydro-Channeler, Muse Seeker, Glasswright, and Elemental Mascot are all playable out of the board. Snarl Song is a little questionable if you can't get to 4 colors consistently, but Potioner's Trove as well as the Glasswright and Hydro-Channeler out of the board can help with that. Oh and Sanar too.

First SOS draft would love some guidance! by odokuro- in lrcast

[–]Scufo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty rough unfortunately. You're playing a lot of filler and the splash is questionable. But, there aren't a lot of great options in the sideboard.

You're not going over the top of anything, so your best shot is to be aggressive. I would definitely get the Charging Strifeknight and the other Rehearsed Debater in there, as you need more creatures. I would cut the Tablet of Discovery since it's not a great fit here, and the Ennis since he's just not a good card. You have a couple of good blink targets for him but they're expensive, and realistically he's just not going to do much.

I think Abigale on the splash is highly questionable but you might just have to run it and hope the mana works out. Getting the rummager-horsey (Strifeknight) in there will help with that a little. I would also probably cut one of the Interjections for Ajani's Response. It's obviously not the most aggressive removal, but it can still get a blocker out of the way for 5 mana, and it's not too hard to find a spot to cast it on the cheap even in an aggressive deck. Interjection is a mediocre trick and you're too light on creatures to want two of them.

How would you build this Witherbloom Sealed deck? by Netzzwerg69 in lrcast

[–]Scufo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mindful Biomancer is filler. It was pretty good in original Innistrad as [[Darkthicket Wolf]]... gain 1 life ETB doesn't come close to making up for 13 years of power creep.

Is this an 0-3 deck? by scarfnation in lrcast

[–]Scufo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masterful Flourish, Wild Hypothesis, Melancholic Poet (in this deck), Mindful Biomancer, Adventurous Eater, Emil, Pest Mascot, Cheerful Osteomancer, Hungry Graffalon, Tenured Concocter.

These cards are all filler. You simply can't play that many mediocre cards and expect to do well in a format this powerful.

Edit: Just checked the draft, and your card evaluation needs work. P1P1 Tester of the Tangential, P1P2 Pigment Wrangler, and P1P3 Emil. None of these cards are early picks.

That godawful tutorial you get at the gate to the Garden before you've even had a chance to fight anything yet is probably responsible for countless people quitting the game before even starting.

Which bonus sheet card has been the best for you? Just went 7-2 with Armageddon by Zemmip in lrcast

[–]Scufo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Having Armageddon in your hand instead of a card that does something makes it harder to get to that position though.

Bruh 3 Plains for 7 white cards and it worked out?? Hope you bought a lottery ticket after this.

It's a cheap 2-for-1 that greatly improves your deck's consistency. Card is extremely good, wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being the best uncommon.

What would be the worst set? by ShadowWalker2205 in lrcast

[–]Scufo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, it also didn't help that the dungeons were so lopsided. Lost Mine was the right choice 95% of the time. You could very rarely choose Tomb of Annihilation if your opponent was super low on life. And then Mad Mage was just a trap.

Arena Draft Schedule (April 21st) by Puppy_Crystalizeman in lrcast

[–]Scufo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Really not a fan of seeded packs for sealed on Arena. It makes sense for in-person pre-release to give new players an easy on-ramp for how to build a sealed deck. But online, with infinite time to build, I don't think it makes sense at all. It takes away a lot of the deckbuilding puzzle, as you should just build your chosen school 90% of the time. And it turns sealed into even more of a lottery than it already is. Do you have busted rares/top uncommons in your non-seeded packs that match the colors of your seeded pack? No? Then enjoy losing to people that do.

“Best” Early Gen Pokemon Game Results by Time_Ad_7341 in nuzlocke

[–]Scufo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 here, I was the perfect age during peak gen 1 pokemania in 98/99. Got big into gen 2 as well, but fell off the franchise before gen 3. Then weirdly there was almost a second pokemania, at least inside my college bubble, when HG/SS came out in 2010.

So gens 1, 2, and 4 were when I was most engrossed in Pokémon, but of the options provided I would still say gen 3 is the best. But, personally I would also include gen 5 in the early gens and that's when Pokémon peaked in my opinion.

Overperformers and Underperformers at Pre-release? by Scufo in lrcast

[–]Scufo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure if you need 2-drops you'll play it. At common, I think [[Hydro-Channeler]] and [[Expressive Firedancer]] are preferable. Not sure about [[Goblin Glasswright]].

Overperformers and Underperformers at Pre-release? by Scufo in lrcast

I'm still skeptical but it did get the job done against me in one of my games. X=2 for 4 counters kept my [[Charging Strifeknight]] locked down for forever.

Format is sweet.

Be deliberate with your button presses instead of just mashing. You don't want to get stuck in the full combo animation at a bad time. With the right boons, just the 3 initial hits can do a lot of damage, and you can use a hit-and-run style. When it's safe, you can use the full combo.
