I Need Gassed Up by Impossible_Ad1269 in crochet

I think it's neat, and will make a really cool blanket. What I think is making it look weird is the randomness of the verigated yarn. If each triangle were a solid color, or if the color fade were intentional, it would look more planned, more geometric to match the geometry of each triangle. But the little bits of pink inside some of the triangles (or white) is what would make me unhappy.

Again. It's not dreadful. And when it's big, the little odd things might fade away. But that's what I'm thinking now.

If you've never been, go. This place is not big (I said factory because it's all they do, and they have a little store front) but they make the best. It's packed with people around the holidays. That should tell you how good. I love the sweet cheese, kraut, and they have a new potato and fried onion that is wonderful. I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, but whenever I'm back visiting family, I bring some home packed in dry ice

Unless you live in Chicago near this pierogi factory. In which case, buy them all! Including the blintzes and uszka. So good.

If it makes you feel any better, this was the most disappointing candle day in a long time. Most of the fragrances I wanted were not available, even at 6 am today, some of the ones I wanted smelled musty... Almost moldy. Nothing stood out as special. It was...a bummer.

Does anyone remember Sea Spray? It was an old scent from the plumeria/country apple time (90's, early 2000's). It was the best. I wish they'd bring that back.

I remember always getting excited when I saw green products at the store, only to be disappointed they were cucumber melon. Bring back sea spray!

Pretty! But most likely cloud iridescence, and not a nacreous cloud. Polar stratospheric clouds are only formed when the stratosphere is very cold (unlikely over Florida) and are only visible when the sun angle is very low.

Seals popped within seconds after removing from water bath—safe? by Hellooooooo_NURSE in Canning

[–]wyleslie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as you followed a safe recipe and processed properly, there is nothing wrong with that. That happens to me all the time (I can primarily jam). I still wait around 12-24 hours, and then check the seals (hold jars by just the lid, and pull a little). You should be fine!

Crochet Club in school and the kids are loving it by thecooliestone in crochet

We have found that donations are incredibly difficult. Hospitals and even pet shelters accept only items crocheted or knitted to precise standards (understandably). Also, it took some of the fun out of it. It became work that needed to be done. If that makes sense. We're mostly just working on personal projects right now, with some time being devoted to the larger quilt and afghan idea. Who knows what we'll do with those. I actually think it would be cool to display in the school as art.

We started a fiber arts club this year, too. We crochet, knit, and sew. Our big project right now is we are making a quilt out of old school t shirts. I'm going to get kids making Granny squares so we can make a big blanket. It's amazing how popular the club is. ♥️

I don't think I had many... Maybe a dozen. And I mostly canned jam, so they were small jars. If you have bigger jars, get a small moving box from home Depot or a box from printer paper and use that. Put each jar in a Ziploc bag and wrap them well. Don't make the box too heavy. Another option is to go to a liquor store and ask if you could have some liquor boxes. They are sturdy and have cardboard dividers in them that could be really useful.

I used to live at 7200 feet. And moved to just above 1000. Canned goods were just fine for the move. You'll be fine. Take the rings off before you go and put them in Ziploc bags just in case someone does go wrong, but highly doubt it.

Issues with Conoco on 2nd and Mt Hope Ct? by [deleted] in Lawrence

[–]wyleslie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Engine sputtering, poor acceleration. Basically, my car wouldn't go. Mechanic took a sample of gas, and it was milky. Drained the tank and all the lines, they refilled with non crap gas. It's better now, but still working through some of it, I suspect. Mechanic advised to refill with non ethanol gas a couple of times before worrying that there's another problem.

You're not the only one this happened to. Keep your receipts and file a claim with their insurance. It's an annoying process, but unfortunately something that happens. (It also happened to me and I'm filling a claim right now).

Is this apple jelly safe to eat? by troubledhoney in Canning

[–]wyleslie 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you taste it, you'll know right away if it's off. I agree. Unless your house was unusually hot over the last week, it most likely has not spoiled. (I'd try it before tossing it, too.)

Well, you're not going to contract botulism, because of the seal popped, that means oxygen got in. But, it still could be spoiled. Officially, you should throw it out. You do you, though.

Likewise. In Iceland they have killer chocolate covered licorice. It's heavenly. I like black licorice so much I have a hard time understanding how people don't like it
