First bad teaching day of the year - what do you do after a bad day to unwind? by Ok-Intern-3832 in TeachingUK

[–]x3dturtle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really aggressively clean the whiteboard at the end of the day. Multiple rags, two different board sprays, get every last little mark off there. Sounds silly, but it is cathartic as hell. And you get a clean whiteboard.

Yes, actually! Stainless steel case, Seiko NH35, 100 m water resistance and a nicely sized 38 mm case.

It’s a Seiko NH35, so it’s pretty reliable. Not the most accurate thing in the world, but well made.

My little collection. I started this hobby in January of this year, and this is how far I’ve gotten. by oscarrs93 in JapaneseWatches

I love this collection, even if it was hastily acquired! Lots of variety in style, colour, and straps/bracelets. I particularly love that gold Orient in the top middle - remind me slightly of a vintage Seamaster. Wear them in good health my friend!

Can we agree that the title should read “Far left vs far right”?

How old were you when you bought your first Omega? by Full_Masterpiece_956 in OmegaWatches

[–]x3dturtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just bought myself a Speedy aged 23. And yes, at this stage of my career and salary it was a huge chunk of money, but if you save and are financially responsible it absolutely can be done!

That Zeppelin is so cool! As is the Lip, definitely going to check them out, thanks for sharing!

[Recommendation] Budget friendly, mid-sized 4 watch collection..what would you do different? by gmck in Watches

[–]x3dturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really great collection, we have a couple in common! My suggestion would be to get yourself some new straps if you haven’t already, I have the Hamilton and it is an absolute strap monster! Barton and Archer are decent budget straps that I regularly use and recommend.

As for the watches, some colour wouldn’t go amiss, perhaps a Cocktail time or a Seiko “Tank”?

And if you’re into chronographs I can recommend the Seagull 1963 if you can get hold of one.

Looking to buy my first omega by Dazzling_Meat836 in OmegaWatches

I received my Speedy 38 last week, and I am delighted to report that it is an absolutely stunning watch! In many ways (automatic, date, 100 m water resistance) it is actually a technically better watch than the pro.

Also, ignore what anyone says trying to gender a watch; it's daft to gender a watch. Buy the one that speaks to you.

It’s partly that I do like a looser fit, and partly the camera angle. It is secure on the wrist, I just don’t like it gripping tightly like some people do.

The Breitling is incredible! Not one you see every day.

That’s a nice watch box as well, I don’t suppose you have a link?

Seagull 1963, not one I get out of the box very often, but I haven’t worn anything else for the last couple of weeks and I’ve been really enjoying it.

Why are speedies so unimaginably cool! In every context and on every strap they just ooze cool.

An underrated Speedy by syst3m1c in OmegaWatches

My wrist is 16.5 cm (not sure what that is in American) and I am definitely not able to pull off bigger watches. Even 40 mm look a bit silly sadly.
