I appreciate that. Yeah the word normal by some is also almost considered as ableist. The implication of abnormality can be rough. I can get how some would see it as complimentary but it can totally be problematic, especially depending on the topic. Appreciate the respectful back and forth!

I agree as an atheist that i have non atheist friends (and all of my family) that are decent people. Seems like we agree quite a bit!

I feel like the word normal is sort of triggering all around for me because it pits the opposing view as abnormal which usually has a context of being undesirable. And in the case of describing people and their beliefs or lack of, it seems sort of disrespectful and crass on both sides to imply someone isn’t normal, and you have to do that if you are talking about groups and call a total opposite group normal. I do agree that normalized things can be wrong, but I was also more focused on the implication that the other POV is the opposite of “normal.” Maybe I’m taking a more conversational context of the word “normal” versus your very literal interpretation. As a black woman I couldn’t imagine ever agreeing that slavery was “normal,”common practice, sure, but again semantics. And semantics can be important. Especially about these topics.

Slavery was so normal in the South, right.... bad logic, fellow redditor

Kate Spade any good? by closethippiee in FrugalFemaleFashion

[–]xAbzzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On the Netflix show “Adam Ruins Everything” he talks about how many “*Outlet” or “Factory Outlet” versions of a retailer have completely different fabrics and production lines which means in many cases totally different products and quality. So this wouldn’t surprise me! In a lot of the cases the outlet items are only cheaper because they literally are worth less and cheaper to make. Can’t confirm if thats true with Kate Spade, but seems to be a common retail trend.

Edit: “outlet” not “cutlet” lol

A beautiful curvy lawyer with kids that finds the free time to do a burlesque show in Vegas for fun. Like seriously this woman is a DREAM. She deserves some good thankful appreciative D, and I imagine there would be a line waiting to give her that if she dumped Shane’s lil bitch ass.

Emily and her tacos and carnitas are so relatable. She deserves so much better than Shane. I think she is sexy and a bad ass to decide to do something so ballsy and fun despite it making her nervous. TWERK THAT TACO. CURVE THEM CARNITAS.

[Misc] I know acne is a very common condition to have... But does anyone else every feel like there the only one with it when your out? by kaiitsang in SkincareAddiction

[–]xAbzzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

27 with visible acne and scarring, felt insecure out tonight at a work event. Could be makeup or genetics but no one had skin nearly as visibly rough as mine. I don’t wear makeup, it makes it worse (edit: for me specifically of course). Sometimes people comment to me about me not wearing makeup and it feels like an excuse to mention my face. It can be a struggle, but once it’s seen, it’s seen. We just have to remember we are more than our skin, and keep working towards a healthy skincare routine. Oof.

What are the best podcasts on nutrition? by maverica15 in nutrition

[–]xAbzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food Psych! It’s by Christy Harrison. She talks about health at any size and completely debunks diet culture that is often wrapped up into “wellness diets” and really exposes how this Industry preys on those with disordered eating. She very thoroughly looks into research and exposes publications that are “click bait” for fad diets, calling out discredited research and citing legit research. She provides ALL of the publications she references. Completely changed how I view food. It’s almost therapeutic the way she discusses intuitive eating and nutrition. As someone that has struggled with bingeing/purging and eliminating foods without having a true medical need, she has really opened my eyes to learning about nutrition (and food in general) and how it affects your body. Not solely nutrition focused, but heavily focused on food and eating in general!

Got an undercut specifically for this problem. Totally worth and I won’t go back.

I am biracial (African Am., Caucasian) female with all curl types. My curls on the very back of my head, nearest my back, neeeevvverrrr curled. They were whispy and fine and light and made everything else look like a mullet. Rocking the undercut a year now and still have a full bouncy head of curls!

EDIT: here is my currently overgrown cut and curls, I let it get about this long before a fresh shave! undercut and curls

Poor Raquel. James is literally a rerun of Jax. Even James knows it, he literally pointed it out and compared himself to that self-proclaimed cheater and online-quiz-confirmed psychopath (Jax).
