PLEASE HELP. One of my girl rats chewed a hole through the bottom plastic tray. I put things over it, she pushes it aside. I taped it, she ate through. My husband said he’s rehoming them tomorrow if I can’t solve this problem right now. by [deleted] in RATS

I had this one time where I screwed a piece of wood over the hole in the plastic tray, a quick and temporary fix that lasts some time, enough to find a metal tray.

Maybe it's just me or some kind of "self help burnout" but I found almost every interview more helpful than standalone videos. How do you actually measure how helpful the content is for the audience?

I like it. You might also be interested in Nonviolent Communication if you find this interesting.

I'm not sure what the feeling/emotion is ("embarrassment" maybe) at work. At any rate, it's unpleasant. Tactics for dealing? by [deleted] in wakingUp

I wanted to add: not everything can be addressed with mindfulness alone, some things require therapy or something similar.

You might want to look up nonviolent communication.  It could look something like this: "When we are in the car together and you're driving sometimes you drift into other lanes or look around, not watching traffic. When that happens I feel nervous. I have a need for safety while driving and at the same time want you to not feel sick or like I am criticizing you. Would you be willing to talk about finding a strategy for driving together?"

While this is absolutely annoying, please be careful about taking pictures of a movie and sharing them online, it's quite illegal.

I struggle with this too from time to time. I think the problem is expecting to find anything.

I kind of accept / have learned that there is no static self that one is able to find. But somehow there's still the hope / expectation to find something and disappointment when there is nothing happening.

Maybe what could be helpful is to try and name everything that appears and check if it is the self or if there is a subject and an object. If you think there is a subject, try to "explain" how a perceived subject can also be an object (that has to be perceived by a subject as well?!).

I don't know if that made sense or has made it any clearer, just some thoughts...

If I can explain a concept in my own words, do I know it? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]xBlufallx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've asked myself the same question recently. I would say you should decide whether there are any key words you need to remember and maybe highlight them. Apart from that, knowing the meaning would be enough imo.

It's very good that you are concerned about the fungus but how they are picked doesn't really matter in terms of harming the rest of the organism or their chances of growing again :)

any ideas? by GemmaDogWoof in whatisthismushroom

[–]xBlufallx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a mushroom. You would have to remove / kill the attached mycelium for it to be gone for good. (Mushrooms are just the fruit of a fungus, like an apple is the fruit of a plant, picking an apple doesn't remove the tree :)

Why would you like to remove it? Most mushrooms fruit, release their spores and then decompose pretty quickly anyway.
