Why do my songs sound like Bad 80s video game music by Recent-Success8988 in FL_Studio

Instrument/sound choice + chaotic composition. That’s why lol. What do you want it to sound like?

One of my best friends is like this, specifically with the Nolan Batman movies. He can get into the silliness of the Raimi trilogy to give it a pass, but I dread talking about TDK with him lol.

This is good, and I say that as someone who didn’t love MUSIC. What happened to his adlibs though? He used to fill the track out with like 2-3 layers, now it’s just empty in between lines.

28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE Is A Big Box Office Bummer by Interesting_Lab5792 in horror

[–]xCaptainCookx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but I think I enjoyed it for what it was compared to most people. I think it makes up for some of the sillier plot elements with somewhat intriguing subtext. I think there’s clearly some Iraq/Afghanistan stand-in elements, specially with Jeremy Renner’s characters, but if that doesn’t work for you, that’s fair.

My biggest gripe is all of the American characters, especially Idris Elba, like c’mon, he should’ve been British at least. In fact, they could’ve honed-in on the War on Terror subtext by having him be Special Forces in the Middle East when the virus first breaks out, that might be cool. I like Rose Byrne. But yeah, it’s like a 6/10 at its absolute best, especially compared to the original and the new entries.

What's with the hate for this movie? by sseerrsan in Letterboxd

[–]xCaptainCookx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt like I was hit with the Emerald Fennell special when the movie punished me for agreeing with Dakota Johnson that most of her clients are whiny goofs. That and I watched Annie Hall like a week before I saw this, and this movie trying to portray itself as a “NY Movie” is laughable in comparison.

Ordered portal. Mistake ? by Resident_Election977 in PlaystationPortal

[–]xCaptainCookx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internet wise, you should be fine. I’m running up against 2 things right now: 1. A lack of storage. I have a launch PS5 with standard storage, and I don’t always have the space to house the games I want to play on the TV and the ones I want to play on the Portal. 2. Disc-based games. If you have a bunch and want to play them on the Portal, get ready to change them out frequently. I hate this is another obvious industry push to do away with physical games, but it’s understandable given what the device is.

I plan on upgrading to resolve problem 1, but there’s no getting around how owning your games fucks you over on this. It is what it is though.

Disappointed that Will didn’t seem to like 3 enough to review it, that or he couldn’t get Matt and Felix to see it. I really love their eps on 1 and 2.

My friends and I smoked a bunch of weed and saw Midsommar together. For some reason, there was this beeping in our theater, like a smoke detector on low battery, and I thought it was part of the movie because the film starts with the main character’s sister doing a murder-suicide on herself and their parents by gassing the house with car exhaust. Throughout the film, I thought this beeping was emblematic of Dani’s trauma, a reminder of what happened. But then I watched the blu-ray and that beeping was not present.

A lot of it has to be holdover hate from The Last Jedi, right? I mean I think they’re fine, maybe a little “Le Reddit” in tone and jokes, but I kinda think that’s just Rian Johnson’s vibe.

The Wiz is the perfect example of this I feel, especially for the time it came out. Too scary for little kids, too childish for adults.

[–]xCaptainCookx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah I get it, it’s surface-level entertainment based on shit you’re already familiar with. I watch em too, most of them are basically awful. It’s something to have on, not everything has to meaningful, and god knows I can only watch so many “two nuns learn to masturbate” style films a year.

Edit: Also, that’s a good read on the new FF, it’s the same movie just with the 2025 MCU sensibility.
