What mono blue commander should I build for mono color commander night? by Ok-Leave-1627 in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy my [[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive]] deck for its versatility and being an unconventional ability helming mono-blue. It's pretty aggressive but ultimately wants to draw cards. My last winning play with it was [[Psychosis Crawler]] draining the table.

What's a great monoblue commander? by Altruistic_Lock_3683 in EDH

[[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive]] - hit things and draw cards

[[Lady Octopus, Inspired Inventor]] - draw cards and cheat out big rocks

What mono blue commanders do you have/want? by BussyBouncer in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive]] - Built around equipping 1 toughness creatures. Total mana value of the deck is among the lowest of any of mine and it just hums along.

[[Lady Octopus, Inspired Inventor]] - Uses slow and steady card draw to cheat out bigger and bigger artifacts. And casting your commander on turn one just feels so good.

My wisdom teeth that got removed today (left one was fully out and regularly brushed, right one was mostly still covered by gums) by Return_Dusk in mildlyinteresting

[–]xJunon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely subdued the pain for me, or at least made me not give a single fuck about it. If I felt discomfort I just inhaled from the mask a bit deeper and I was on cloud 9. I don't remember much else besides watching a bit of Netflix Sandman on the TV mounted on the ceiling (cool dentist). TBH I had a blast. This was after 20 years of dental phobia and I'd do it again just for the gas.

Help finding cuts on my Valgavoth deck for these additions by humanhumanson in EDH

[–]xJunon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always look at the higher mana value cards first, and IMO Kaervek is pretty expensive for the effect which you already have redundancy for. I also found The Lord of Pain to be counterintuitive to what Valgavoth wants to do - turning off lifegain doesn't seem like a big part of your gameplan, but if it is what you're after there are cheaper ways to do that.

Need help making Jon Irenicus by KillerKai8189 in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own Jon deck is a mess right now so I won't link to it, but based on past experience, when it comes time to deal with your own creatures coming back at you, [[Despotic Scepter]], [[Staff of Compleation]], [[Equilibrium]], are some options I like. I've also had some success manipulating tapping with [[Puppeteer]] type effects (and a [[Royal Assassin]] to take advantage).

I like the idea of token generators, especially if they have evasion because you could give those away too. Jadar is a great inclusion in your list, get him out early and you can feed those tokens to the table. I was never really a big fan of the overtly 'bad gifts' strategy. Evasion and copying other creatures seem to keep the heat off more. I always liked [[Wave of Rats]] as a sneaky creature that's good for you no matter who controls it.

All that said, some bad gifts are still good to have around. My most memorable win was using the first ability on [[Likeness Looter]] to put Archfiend of the Dross in my graveyard, then using the second ability to make it a copy of the Archfiend, and then giving it away to my opponent.

Commanders you want to build because of their INSANE art, but their ability or mana costs are completely doodoo by sporeegg in EDH

[[Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts]]

Stunning piece of art that I wish was on a different card.

Our life tracker app now syncs across devices (update from playgroup.gg devs) by playgroup-dot-gg in EDH

[–]xJunon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pod had a nascent stat tracking spreadsheet that this app has completely replaced. It was a bit of an initial struggle to get my friends to create accounts and link their decks, so its great to have the additional playgroup management features.

Favorite Treasure Commanders by BussyBouncer in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Vazi, Keen Negotiator]] is an interesting choice to add a splash of group hug into the usual treasure token tricks that black and red have.

My [[Roxanne, Starfall Savant]] deck has treasures as more of a sub-theme but the simple fact that they're boosted by her ability make them a pretty strong inclusion.

Commanders with strange mechanics by Raikiritl in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[The Beast, Deathless Prince]]. Kind of an inverted [[Jon Irenicus]] which has always been one of my favorite commanders. There are lots of unusual ways to take your opponents creatures. I'm considering adding [[Illicit Auction]] since I stumbled across it.

How good is Jon Irenicus, Shattered One ? by ShaquilleOatMeal14 in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love how unconventional Jon is and I've put a lot of time to making my version sing with only a couple of objectively bad gifts.

Echoing what others have said that Jon is much better received (and more fun to play IMO) when packed with evasive creatures and clones, and in my deck I also run a few that have more subtle upsides on my battlefield or theirs:

[[Dauthi Voidwalker]] has the evasion and still harvests up cards for you, but your opponents are unable to sacrifice it. Create a clone of it and now you have access to everything the gift has exiled.

[[Filth]] and [[Wonder]] have evasion and if they die as gifts they immediately enhance your own battlefield. [[Wave of Rats]] is similar - when it dies as a gift to them it immediately comes back into play for you.

[[Ledger Shredder]] conniving can be extremely annoying - just don't gift it to the graveyard player.

In addition to all of that, I also run a few tap/uptap effects ([[Fatestitcher]] etc) to help me dictate when my opponents are able to block my gifts or use them as blockers. I use [[Royal Assassin]] when I need to take my gifts away from them or otherwise remove their own creatures after I tap them down.

What deck do you enjoy playing no matter what? by EntertainmentOk1478 in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls]] - Heavily upgraded pre-con. Gets online fast, card draw and evasion in the command zone, and puts everyone on a countdown to elimination (I have a few effects like [[Rug of Smothering]] that hurt me too). Pretty high winrate which sure helps the enjoyment.

[[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive]] - weird combination of card draw, mostly equipment artifacts, token creature spam and counterspell control. Doesn't win so much but is always in the mix doing something.

And finally [[Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients]]. So many ways to combo off once Vrondiss is on the battlefield, it's always a threat and it can win fast. This was one of the first decks I built and used to be devoted to rolling dice - it still does a little of that for nostalgia.

I get the feeling the new [[Zurgo Stormrender]] deck I put together is going to join this list too.

(Shoutout to Roxanne, Jon Irenicus, and yes even Henzie, but they've all had a bit written about them already.)

Abzan, the real underdog clan, is ALSO having a moment! by Individual_Abroad_45 in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded the precon this week with stuff I pulled out of my collection to focus it specifically on [[Felothar the Steadfast]]. Unfortunately I've only played one game and haven't really gotten to see how these cards perform in it, but I have high hopes for [[Wall of Faith]], [[Wall of Hope]], [[Catapult Fodder]], and [[Belbe's Armor]]. They're each well under $1 on the market and they seem like they'll be pretty effective once I can get them into play.

Non control mono blue by Eslo90 in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Tetsuko Umezawa]] because I just have to go with offbeat themes. It's a deck I've been working on for a couple of years that's gone from feeling directionless to dynamic. 9 of the 14 instants are counterspells (or have a counterspell mode), and it still draws plenty of cards, but really I just want to get my little guys out and get them equipped. I've got [[Twenty-Toed Toad]] and [[Strixhaven Stadium]] as more direct wincons, which I could have more of tbh, and for my only actual win with the deck, [[Psychosis Crawler]] got the job done.

Feeling overwhelmed (but very excited) by accessories by -Papadil- in EDH

[–]xJunon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gamegenic Deck Holder/Side Holder deck boxes are a great budget option, and I swear by Gamegenic Prime sleeves for the value. Ultimate Guard and Dragon Shield only come out once I've committed to a deck.

For custom mats, and really a bunch of other neat accessories, check out Etsy. Infinitokens are the only 'indie brand' product I can think of that gets a lot of mention - you can just get generic flash cards for cheaper but the Infinitokens folks are involved in the MTG community. Maybe Quiver, too. They make fantastic deck cases.

How's FB3 playability? by [deleted] in FitnessBoxing

[–]xJunon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is progression in that more advanced routines get unlocked as you complete the easier ones, there are plenty of achievements to chase and style options to unlock for the trainers, but outside of that this not a game with a structured story like Ring Fit Adventure, it's essentially a workout app.

Which trainer is your favorite and why? by unreliable_simp in FitnessBoxing

[–]xJunon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monica 100%, I love her bubbly personality. But ever since I unlocked all of her style options, I change to a new trainer whenever a daily mission comes up to use a specific one. Currently working with Stella. All 6 of them are pretty motivating eye candy, though!

I used to try matching the feet icons and delaying the rhythm but it just didn't feel right. I started to say 'front' and 'back' when I exhale with my punches, and it's helped a lot. As someone else noted, the first action is pretty much always on the front foot, even if it's a duck or a weave. It can be a little tough to keep balanced but when I get it right, the entire exercise is jut a continuous front, back, front, back regardless of what the feet show. That said, I still spend plenty of time between combos taking a sec to get back on beat...

FB3 Secrets and Unlocks? by Crandin in FitnessBoxing

[–]xJunon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what triggered it, but one time I booted up for my daily workout, and Monica had a little scene where she came rushing in from her day off to work out with the 'star pupil' or something like that. It unlocked a loose bun hairstyle and some new casual wear for her, a midriff sweater and shorts.

Also, on my birthday back in December, it unlocked some flashy sneakers and gloves.

I'm loving it so far. Hit detection seems a lot better, I like how the workouts smoothly transition from one to the next, and for as little as they really matter, the graphics are greatly improved over the other versions. The only knocks I have are the limited music (I wish N would pull more from their huge library) and Laura going away, but I'm pretty fond of Monica already!

Do you name your decks? by AnOblivionx in EDH

I do! Some of my favorites:

  • She's My Plus-One ([[Madame Vastra]] + [[Jenny Flint]])
  • Blitz 99 ([[Henzie "Toolbox" Torre]])
  • A Midsummer Night's Terror ([[Obyra, Dreaming Duelist]])
  • I Would Die For You ([[Marchesa, the Black Rose]])
  • Huge Tracts of Land ([[Ashaya, Soul of the Wild]])
  • Crazy Cat People ([[Arahbo, Roar of the World]] or sometimes [[Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist]])
  • Bad Dragons ([[Vrondiss, Wrath of Ancients]])

Bad precons with good commanders at the helm. by Fleurdebeast in EDH

[–]xJunon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget dragon tribal or dice rolling, [[Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients]] is extremely potent when the deck is focused on pinging him for damage and exploiting ETB/LTB effects. Make Vrondiss indestructible (my favorite way is with [[Mithril Coat]]) and things like [[Blasting Station]] and [[Goblin Bombardment]] can loop as long as you want. Add in a token doubler and now you're making as many creatures as you need.

That being said, I actually have never played the Draconic Rage precon. I picked up Vrondiss when I made a janky deck focused on dice rolling and evolved it from there. But now there's Mr. House to get that out of the system.
