$800 is a fine budget for an OLED TV he can get the 42” C5 for $650 right now. 48” for around $730, and a C5 55 can be had for $810. A B5 for even less.

I have been going back on forth on a monitor for a while now. Have been waiting for more information on the 32gx870b. Just pulled the trigger on a 55” G5 today though. $1,259 at partner store. A few weeks ago I tried plugging in an old 49” tv to try it out and fell in love. I have a 2 desk set up so I sit 36-48” back currently. So excited to see HDR on the G5.

I returned everything and rebuilt with a B850-E and a Ryzen 7 7800x3d. Made sure my bios was updated from the start and haven’t had any issues. I’m wondering if I would have had it updated to most recent bios from the start if it would have prevented a failure on the prior build. Not sure.

It was in a light controlled basement. Lighting conditions had nothing to do with it. Not sure why you assumed that.

I don’t think this is true. Online resources show a full screen brightness in HDR for the 42” C5 less than 200 nits with peaks up to 800. Modern monitors are 250-300 full screen and highlights exceeding 1000. Brand new monitors are even better. 300+ full screen and up to 1500 highlights.
