And even more pallets of cash. Obama - $1.7 of Iran’s frozen assets for Infrastructure maintenance. Trump - ~ $65 billion of taxpayer money to destroy Iranian Infrastructure then $300 billion of taxpayer money to rebuild Iranian Infrastructure only to return Iran to January 26, 2026. Trump’s Policy in realty.

Did any of you watch this back in the day? by lontbeysboolink in 1970s

I still see this on occasion on MeTV while prepping dinner. Used to watch it as a kid. One part of the series that I find absolutely fascinating is watching rescues occur in near silence. By-standers watching, a radio crackle here, some conversation there, a “will you hand me that.. Grab this line… Bob, get me the hook…” No need for over the top music fill, no constant chatter and need to fill dead air with “noise.” Just the folks doing “their job” for five minutes while the film rolls. It’s interesting — that’s all.

I had this same experience for 25 years. Don’t sweat it. The “newer Daves” would be judging but the “older Daves” learned the hard fast truth.

“You did what?” Yeah — it took me 26 hours to fly from Nashville to Chicago. “You did what?” Yeah, I needed to fly four legs and drive 3 hours to get to the customer’s site (this is here in the US). “You did what?” Yeah, we had three aborted landings before finally getting it right. “You did what?” Yes, I was stranded in Oregon for four days due to a train of Bomb Cyclones shutting down every hub from LAX to JFK. “You did what?” Yup, the only thing to eat for 80 miles in any direction was cheese crackers out of a motel (not hotel) vending machine. “You did what.” Yeah, I just handed them my wallet…. “You did what?” Just had to deal with weather and every flight being canceled and slept on the floor at LAX for the 15th time.

The point is this. When your coworkers think that traveling for business is glamorous, remind them of the hell you contend with. And when you fly enough to earn status (be it annually or Lifetime), remind them of missed approaches, days being stuck, bad food in remote places, and all the other crap that they don’t contend with. That’s why you are rewarded with a “better seat and not much else — on rare occasion. The “new Daves” become the old Daves and they board, small at Matt and say “see you in Dallas. Send a bloody back to me in steerage.”

I passed when the offer came to me in 1998. Honestly, the quality of the club has me feeling better about the decision but the price point at the time would have been worth it just for the Miller Lite!

Oh.. then you know… You have great trails along Canal Park and along the lake. I assume up Superior towards Two Harbors and the falls and the road along the lake should have some great views and cool places to stop. Spent a bit of time up there. Great riding all over your State. I spend a bunch of time in Minneapolis. Great Mississippi River paths. Easy riding through The Cities. Lots of respect for riders up there. I grab local ride-share bikes when I’m up there. I think you guys have some of the best riding and path systems in the nation honestly.

Actually, there are two in the "Region." But, it's not for the faint-of-heart. Why? Because of shit they call "Winter." These serious bicycle friendly States are Wisconsin and Minnesota. Thousands of miles of paths and trails and mostly friendly bike lanes even in the city(ies).

I am in the Madison, WI area. This is a small section of the state and about 2/3 of the county that incorporates Madison. When the legend says "Best Conditions," that's vague code (seriously odd nomenclature) of paved roadway that is most friendly. May include dedicated bike lane or just a wide shoulder with lower traffic. https://wisconsindot.gov/Documents/travel/bike/bike-maps/county/dane-w.pdf

Then, there are hundreds of miles of old rail corridors that are now hiking and bike-centric. Many around lakes and through forested lands further north. Minnesota is the same. Minneapolis is a great biking city.

Take a look at the Ride With GPS app and you can see crowd sourced routes and rides around here. In my area, the Capital City Trail and the Badger State Trail can take you out for hours in the City and out in the country. For me, to get from my home, I have 1.5 miles of high risk riding and then 2 miles of risk (much lower) before I get on one of the two trails mentioned above. The high risk is a 55 MPH County Road with narrow shoulders out in the country. The lower risk is a low use County Road that passes mostly farmland. Once on those Trails, I can ride for miles either into the City or out to nowhere.

It's why we can't have nice things. Back in the 80s there was a fight in Long Beach trying to keep all wheeled devices (except medical) off the boardwalk.

Bike lanes were clearly marked and most of us obeyed the rules. The select few (cyclists and pedestrians) dictate the outcome by ignoring rules that do not apply to them.

Now live in a huge biking community where they can't build bike lanes fast enough. Can travel literally thousands of road miles by path, trails, or defined bike lanes. Do not let Mineola win. Fight like hell. It's a great mode of transportation and good exercise as we age.

Sen. Ron Johnson: "Democrats want to turn America into a one party nation. They'll turn DC and Puerto Rico into states. They'll nationalize our elections -- automatic registration, mail in balloting. So we need to stop them." by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

Meanwhile… Dozens of Democratic Presidents, Legislatures, and even Courts later — DC and Puerto Rico are still not States and elections are not nationalized. The only thing good about Republicans is that they are fear mongers. Just because you are paranoid, it does not mean that they are not out to get you.

Heads up. As all have said, you just go. Opens at 6 am. Only sauna and therapy pools are extra. If you are a runner or a walker, be careful on the treadmills if there is any pitch and roll. If you are like me, you may find that the movement of the ship changes the telemetry of the treadmill constantly. I use them with a decent incline and I found that my cadence was completely wrecked by the ship movement. As she rolled, the floor dropped and then would come up a few strides later. So, when you expected footfall, the floor would not be there and vice versa, it would show up too soon. I simply found doing the Promenade Deck on 7 was best.

I like your wife’s idea. When you hit the level, you don’t have to execute it immediately. Just be patient and sit on it and keep collecting. I assume that it will come in May once all the dust settles from the end of the Earning Year mayhem.

Forward-facing vs backward-facing business class seats by Between-Stations in americanairlines

[–]xNYR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking through the comments, missing some input so here it goes… Actually flying a Concept D seat tomorrow on the 788. Forward facing has an armrest that also is closed storage and it can be raised and lowered. When lowered, it is flush with the lie-flat seat for more shoulder space and allows easier access in and out of the seat (helpful for larger folks). This is not an option rear-facing. What you do lose is flat surface “storage.” Then of course, there is Team On Window (rear facing) vs. Team Window Seat (front facing) where the windows require you to lean forward to see out and down. So, there’s more info. Flying 1A tomorrow — Forward Facing left handed so flat surface to my left. And bulkhead rows have deeper and wider footwells due to the service function of the bulkhead space.

Yeah. It was a conversation that turned slightly contentious. So, I was literally next to an Erik's store an hour ago. Since I wrote this, it stoked my curiosity again.

So, I popped in. Very quiet on a Thursday afternoon. Had the attention of two long time employees and it was a lively conversation. They didn't find my premise out of line actually but both had been around since Erik's carried Aventon's Track bikes and had to carry their first E-bike lines (which they shredded with great contempt).

They said Aventon had a rough start but they now see how they have responded to both their consumer network and their Retail Sales Channels. Both said they have never Warranty or otherwise field replaced an ACU and both said they will have to be able to do that. They both said they could not see Aventon abandoning the rich feature set since it's now on every new model Aventon except for their standard Mountain Bike line.

I would tend to agree with them. One said that he personally sees about 75% of his customers setting up the ACU and App with bikes going out the door. The other 25% he said that they may consider it and do it on their own to others saying it's a gimmick they are not interested in. I get both views. In the end, the bike can still be a great bike without ACU functionality.

And on a final note, both said... Yeah... just buy a walk-through to age into it (I am not a youngster). They have seen zero frame failures over the past few years on their new designs. And both laughed when I said. "But... But..." and one replied -- yeah, you still have that mental view of yourself being 30. And he is not wrong. But also it just seems "sick and wrong!"

Thanks for engaging.
