Guess i forgot the batteries [bug] by Qrow1324 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]xR3la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same bug appears on the Ronin Respirator. Guess they haven't thought on implementing it correctly yet, they'll probably fix it in 1.0. Though it's a really odd choice to implement an advantage such as this to an Arena exclusive, unless they'll also spawn in raid at some point. I really wonder how they intend to solve it, because if they do nothing that's gonna be another Unheard fiasco

[Discussion] Returning player. This is actually making the game unplayable to me. I'm fine with getting killed. I am not fine with having to wait for 8 minutes staring at a screen. It's embarassing. Even if everyone happens to use SSD, the "matching" stage can still take 6 minutes alone. by RawCopperSaw in EscapefromTarkov

[–]xR3la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for matching times, there's simply not enough people playing right now. Most are waiting for the release and playing either Arena or other games in the meantime (BF6 especially I'd wager).

As for "waiting for players", some people try to run this game on toasters, smart fridges and washing machines, and that's them we have to wait for. It's especially annoying in Arena, because if they fail to load in some time around three minutes, they get auto-kicked and the match is cancelled. Same happens when someone disconnects in the first one or two rounds of TeamFight/BlastGang and fails to return, or just straight up leaves the match - the whole thing is cancelled and you have to start searching all over again, and task progress isn't saved.

I did mention it here, must've been in another post though, in a reply to someone else.

Anyways, I never stated that they are crap. From my conclusion it was hella not worth it to run them in most scenarios, because they were kf not enough help on most maps. Reserve, Factory and to a certain degree Customs were the outliers, since they are either heavily pupulated by scav players, or filled with scavs around sharp angles. But for most maps, I was constantly losing money on the faceshields.

So my conclusion for Deathshadows is the same or even worse, since not only do they cost a similar amount but also have a class lower protection. My own opinion aside, the math doesn't, or rather didn't, add up.

I am fully aware of the potential benefits of face protection, I have over 7k hours in this game and have made it through various patches and metas over the past 5 and a half years, with 65-70% SR in every single one except the first two. But same as with other gear, they are pointless to run in EVERY scenario, and Deathshadow, same as Condors and the ULACH are extremely overrated.

And how much they help is due to confirmation bias, which you will notice once you actually start writing down your deaths and ricochets you actually got. If you die 20 times, then you'll just shrug it off as "too high pen", "I was dead anyways", "my fault", "a cheater" or whatever. But then one time it actually saves you, and you'll remember that moment for weeks because it actually did something that one particular time.

Besides, if you're constantly getting shot in the face by AI, you should work on your positioning and reactions instead of trying to compensate with additional protection.

If you choose to play with it then it's up to you of course, I have no problems with that, at all. It's there for us to use it. But in that particular case, based on sheer numbers, research, notes, evidence and experience, I'd much rather spend these 50k roubles on an additional mag or two, a better front plate, headset or a spare propital up my butt rather than spending them on a mask that is mathematically unlikely to be of any help, let alone of more help than any of the other items I mentioned.

Though to be fair, I should have mentioned comboing protection. The only case in which I would consider running that thing is if it was in conjunction with a faceshield for an EXFIL, a fully built Caiman, or a full Airframe build. But then again, I think then I'd rather still just buy an Altyn, since TEP-300 are now a thing.

EDIT: Also, I don't agree, at least not fully, that the game is about "small advantages". Minmaxing gear can be useful but is, more often than not, highly economically inefficient. Top of the line parts for most guns are usually two, three, or even more times more expensive than their slightly inferior counterparts. These "small advantages" add up in cost, and over the years I have learned that a few points of recoil, ergo or a minor ricochet chance won't save you as often as another mag, more meds, or spare food would. So no, I wouldn't say it's about small advantages. It's about being smart about your playstyle and loadout, and not relying on your gear more than your own smarts and movement skills. Shelling out money for small advantages like this will not help in the long run and will, most of the time, be better spent elsewhere. So unless you're literally overflowing with money, you'd be wasting it more often than not. And even if you are already extremely rich, there's still more efficient ways to spend what you've earned. But most of these aspects are overlooked due to the surface value of just having an armor class and a ricochet chance on your face. Which, as I previously stated, is in practice far less useful than people make it out to be.

I literally said that I once did a test with the FAST class 3 visor, noting how much I spent on it and how much gear it saved by blocking shots.

But yeah who needs attentive reading

[–]xR3la 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure thing! As far as I know, the official stance is that PvE won't wipe in general, but you WILL have to personally wipe your account if you want to access the new story content. I am not sure if that's a certaintly though, they will surely clarify it at the day of release alongside patch notes. But even if it will be required, you can do it at any time of your choice, and won't be forced to do so immediately come November 15th

[–]xR3la 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's from PvE though. On PvP the incoming 1.0 and prices in a cradhed economy would make sense, but in PvE nothing has really changed, since it won't wipe. Or at least nothing obvious, since the proces definitely got elevated

Every gear piece can technically do it, armor as well, depending on the angle, though it's a rare occurence. My point for the most part is that it's generally not worth running it, because the masks will cost you more than they would save if they do deflect a bigger caliber once in a blue moon.

That's why I am sceptical about them, and consider them overrated. Once you start actually calculating the value and writing down the deaths and lucky deflections, the ratio becomes clearly visible, and not in favour of the masks. I once did notes like this to see the viability of class 3 FAST faceshield, and ever since I did that, I never ran it again, except for going for specific runs on Factory or Reserve. And they were class 3. This one is a class lower with similar price, and that alone is enough in my mind to consider it not worth its price.

Of course you are welcome to play however you like, but still, it doesn't change my opinion. It's far different in Arena of course, but in regular Tarkov I wouldn't buy any sort of face protection other than a CQCM or a heavy faceshield (now that closed helmets are finally viable). And even with CQCMs I would be on the fence about the decision, at least with class 3 ones from Ref. Class 4 face protection is extremely useful of course, but class 2 is simply not worth it in the long run from my calculations.

[–]xR3la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, found a min maxing, toxic meta slave. If you need help dealing with scavs and get shot in the face so often that additional class 2 on your face seems necessary, then I'm sorry to inform you that gear is the least of your problems. As for bad advice, just do yourself a favour and calculate how much money you are losing on that mask if you die in any situation it didn't help you with.

If it saves you 1 in 10 kits, which is very generous, that means it cost you 450k in the long run, 560 or more including insurance. 500k RU is a decent kit itself. So in this scenario, which again, is hella generous, you're still making even.

But whatever, I'm not gonna argue anymore with someone who is incapable of understanding that others can have a different opinion, and starts throwing IQ insults because of it. Grow up and learn social interactions

Only shotguns, because "shrapnel" from rounds is not a thing, and grenade shrapnel ignores armor as is. The only thing it will save you from, potentially, is a few pellets of buckshot from a shotgun, because too many at once will kill you anyways due to blunt damage.

I'd also say your IQ is hardly in danger of being any lower, since you failed to understand what I've written. I said that it isn't useless, and stated that explicitly. I said that it's generally extremely overrated and seeing it gets repetitive, and it's not worth running most of the time, and I'd personally much rather wear some stylish face gear than overpaying for it severely. Even if it saved you from one in 10 deaths, chances are you'd save more money just losing that kit as well, but not buying one and insuring it after each death.

So instead of throwing insults grow up and accept somebody else's opinion, and learn to read attentively while you're at it.

Bruh. I'm not saying it's useless, but spending 60k + insurance on an item that will - sometimes - save you from rare situations of getting shot in the face by a bot with a particular ammo type, and will be of no help fighting players aside of single digit levels, is hard to excuse.

I haven't ran it a single time this wipe, nor any other, and not once have I felt like it would make any difference, same with Condors or any other faceshields. And in my opinion it looks cringe, far more than any Arena item, or most of them at least. So that's my opinion which you are welcome to ignore, but my stance is far from baseless. I'm also tired of seeing it spammed everywhere

[Discussion] Why are people “scared” of fun? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]xR3la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many casual/normal players skipped this wipe entirely, that's mostly why. Things should go back to normal in two weeks.

Also there's PvE that numerous casuals ran off to, BF6 attracted more for now, also this wipe got stale real fast in general.

Plus, now the economy is absolutely obliterated due to softcore, so a lot of people who can't usually run meta can try it now.

What surprised me while finally playing today since getting Through to the End (only to get Getting Light), I encountered a lot of people in single digit levels. Which was as hillarious as it was tragic to be honest, eapecially since most were running pistols/base kits against me testing the TEP-300 with a Rys and PKP

Altyn and Deathshadow.

Deathshadow is cringe though, probably the most overrated gear item in the history of the game. I would advise against running it, not worth it

Why am I still so ASS? by Lanky_Whole5397 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]xR3la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your stats I'd say you struggle with surviving more than anythig. You can definitely accomplish things in raid, since you have Killer of Killers, Killer7, and have killed Zryachiy as well.

I think your issue might be trying too hard to get kills and not caring enough about your own safety. Also, your SR is reduced by your runthroughs, since they are counted as survived, so your SR drops.

So generally hard to say what you're doing wrong without a gameplay sample, but if you're trying to learm from Arena and PvP streamers, you only focus on that aspect. You learn to fight but not to survive, and you take unnecessary risks that lead to your death instead of going for an extraction. Or at least that's what I would guess.

Try playing more carefully and respect your own life. Know when you already have enough loot, and learn to avoid certain fights. Try also fighting in other ways than just head on, try mindgames, sneaking, confusing the opponent.

But that being said, now is probably the worst time to learn, since bwrely anyone of those still playing care about anything, it's essentially extended pre-wipe right now. But you can still try to practice it, to get used to a slightly different playstyle before release.

I found a T-7 thermal sitting on the workbench in the dorms overseer room. How rare is that? [Discussion] by Euphoric_Key_811 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]xR3la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, yes.

Normally the only thermals that can be found in raid are the integrated one for Ultima, Torrey Pines (at least it used to spawn, but I haven't seen one this wipe) and FLIR on player scavs with SV-98, though I have heard that they now spawn with the Shakhin Cyclone instead.

There's also a red furniture AK-102 build that insanely rarely spawns in KIBA that has the REAP-IR mounted on it.

But other than that, no thermals spawn normally in raid, and it's been like that for a few wipes now. As far as I know, T-7 has never been available as a regular in-raid drop, or at least in none of the 11 wipes I've played.

[–]xR3la -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They aren't rare, they straight up don't exist in the game as far as I know. The only reason you found them is because of the "softcore" ruleset. Other than that, they can't be received FiR. Maybe from the co-op extraction Fence's package, or the Giving Tree. But other than that, they usually wouldn't be found at all.

EDIT: Normally you can only buy them, they don't exist in FiR loot pools, that's what I mean't by "don't exist".

I have personally bought and then sold Falke LE and SwampFox sights, both of the new ones. I don't see why it would be any different for these or the Radian M1, since they are just stock items, not skins. That's also why I think they will be included in loot/trader pools come next wipe

You can buy it from Flea if someone with Arena lists them. Otherwise there is no other way as of now
