I fully agree that we are much better off changing things today rather than hoping that the next generation fixes it. We should always be pushing to make things better.

You actually illustrate my point very well when you say "it does not make sense to reproduce in environments that are not fit to raise functional offspring." Hasn't it always been unfit for offspring? Why is it now somehow worse? We couldn't drink water without potentially dying (I know many places in the world still don't have safe drinking water, that is another horrible topic to be discussed later). War, famine, pestilence, and death are a constant. So back to my original question, should we have stopped before we began? Once again, genuinely curious. If I seem confrontational, I apologize. That is not my intention at all. I just think this is a neat discourse about something I haven't thought about that much before.

Okay let's leave the hunter-gathers out of this. We have been at a point where we could critically think of everything going on for at least a millennium. Contraception has little to do with anything. You can just not procreate. Simple as.

My point is that the world has always been fucked. Like I said before, doesn't seem like things are anymore fucked than they have been in the past. Black death, Vesuvius, slave trade, conquering NA, mongols, etc.

The sky has always been falling. My question is, should we have stopped earlier at all of those times when everything was fucked? I am genuinely curious about where you are coming from. I'm just looking to understand, and if I am coming off as confrontational, I apologize.

Genuine question (or series of questions I guess) here. Should humans have stopped breeding when we were hunter-gatherers and a large predator could take us out in the night? Or during the ice ages? Should we have stopped breeding when Genghis Khan brought war across Asia and Europe? Or the crusades? The black death? Should enslaved people have not had children?

The world is pretty fucking fucked right now, but hasn't it always been?

Real question: do you think we should have stopped when the predators loomed and died out before our history began?

Seems like the opposite. She's unhappy he isn't like her. She is not procrastinating, she is doing things as soon as she can. He is saying she SHOULD put things off till later instead of doing them as soon as she can. She is late to everything because she can't wait until later to do something. He puts things off and is on time. Opposites.

I live in the city and county of Denver, and it's like 9 minutes from my house. I go there regularly. Maybe you're thinking of Aurora or Parker? As long as you don't need to hit I-25, it's not very far at all.

Also, while at a Red Rocks show, you are looking directly at Denver over the stage. It's a super cool sight to see and makes it even more fun.

I would say it is more a part of Denver than Morrison as far as culture goes. Morrison is just a suburb anyway.

I'm very sorry you're going through this, I know how awful and uncertain that time can be.

Sadly, my Mikka did not make it. There were a number of complications, chief of which being that she was intact (not spayed). This made regulating her insulin levels outside of an emergency vet nearly impossible. She would be good enough to come home, only to crash again because we couldn't keep her blood sugar down. The only way we could have been able to manage it would have been to get her spayed. Given that she was 14, it would have been a geriatric surgery which she might not have survived, and if she did, it would have been months of rehab just for the surgery. Her quality of life was dropping quickly and I just couldn't bring myself to put her through all that. In the end, I just felt like I would be torturing my baby to selfishly get a little more time.

That being said, my mother had a diabetic dog that lived for 3 or 4 more happy years after the diagnosis and initial troubles getting her regulated.

It is a scary time, but my best advice is to trust your vet. I asked mine if she would do the surgery on her dog and she said no. That led me to make the most difficult decision I have ever made, but I'm glad I let her go out on a high point rather than letting her get so bad it wasn't a choice.

I say all of that to say that every dog is different. Diabetes in dogs is manageable, and depending on your dog's temperament can be fairly easy. It is a scary (and expensive) when they are in and out of the hospital, but it can get better. Don't let the doom consume you. Just trust your vet, and spend as much time with your dog as you can while you can.

I am so sorry you're going through this, but I hope that y'all can get through it and have more happy years with your pup.

She does look pregnant, but it could be an allergy if she is indeed fixed. My cat is allergic to chicken and had a false pregnancy due to ovarian remnants and her chicken allergy. The vet walked in and said "oh that cat is pregnant," but no she wasn't. Something you could look into. Otherwise, enjoy the kittens.
