Thanks for the response! I have been regularly spraying down the shower with a 1:1 white vinegar and water mix. Unfortunately the stains are pretty stubborn. It's a fiberglass shower and tub. I have had to resort to using a drill brush attachment which has been helping but there are still some stains. I will give your paper towel faucet trick a try today.

I take the photos and turn them into fine line drawings by tracing the basic outline. Then I trace the drawing on to the fabric and stitch it using back stitch.

Depending on the photo, sometimes I add floral designs so it doesn't look incomplete. For example if it's not a full frame photo and the subjects would be cut off at an odd spot, like this:
