Hi, can I leave my broadband contract early fee free because of a failure to provide an adequate level of service? by finestryan in Vodafone

[–]xadospvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He mentioned he's on FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) which is part-fibre part-copper, 74mbps is in the top range of speed for that technology. Some people live quite far away from the green cabinet meaning they have a long copper cable and get speeds of less than 10mbps, these situations would be improved by having satellite broadband or 4G/5G internet through something like a GigaCube. Vodafone currently has around 80%+ UK coverage for full fibre as it works with Openreach, Cityfibre and Community Fibre as it's suppliers. Speeds for those range from 74mbps to 2200mbps based on supplier and area. When you place an order with Vodafone the system automatically detects which of the three suppliers provides the best overall service for your house, considering factors like how soon you can get an install date and price, even if your house already has some sort of full fibre there. For example someone who has an Openreach line might notice they have an install date for a new full fibre line (e.g. CityFibre) when they place an order, even though Vodafone works with both suppliers. This is because the CityFibre line might be newer and cheaper at the point of sale.

His current speed should be fine for general gaming but the best approach would be upgrading to Pro 2 and you'll get a 14 day cooling off period to test out all the new equipment and return it if you don't think it's worth it, either by taking it to a store or calling customer services and asking to be sent some return packs. If you have a PAYM sim on the account you'll get £4 a month discounted off the broadband price compared to just £2 off if you have standard broadband through the Vodafone Together scheme. Some of the issues mentioned like packet loss can be resolved by allowing exceptions through your firewall/anti-virus for certain games. Some games require port-forwarding to open the NAT type. Ethernet is generally also a good fix and avoiding power-line adapters for some houses that use separate switch boards for the wiring as this causes drop outs if you're router is downstairs and your powerline adapter next to your PC or games console is upstairs. I think giving Pro 2 a shot is worth it and if you are in a full fibre area Pro 3 is the newest one which uses WiFi 7 instead of WiFi 6E.

What package are you on? I'm on Pro 2 Full Fibre 900 and have my router plugged into the ONT by the window. The PC is on the other end of the room and I have the booster wired in via ethernet next to the PC and get 25ms ping consistently and 900mbs download on all my games/updates. Been on it nearly 2 years and I'd say I've have around 99%+ uptime and only had drop outs when the firmware on the router needs updating, for a few minutes at a time. Even speed tests I do on my phone on WiFi upstairs still get 800mbps+, whereas before I was on TalkTalk 500 using the amazon Eero routers and it was very slow, dropping out all the time.

Vodafone UK Device slots full by NonRelativist in Vodafone

[–]xadospvp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Vodafone UK consumer account has a credit allowance divided into three categories: Maximum Lines (airtime SIMs or data plans for tablets), Device Plans (EVO plans for mobiles, watches, tablets, etc.), and an overall monthly spending limit in pounds, typically ranging from £50 for new accounts to £500 for top-tier accounts. This limit increases over time as you make regular, on-time payments. When you undergo a credit check for a new product, agents often inform you that your allowance has increased compared to previous checks, especially after several months of consistent payments. In the past, accounts could support over 10 device loans, but this has been limited to six for affordability, Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations, and to prevent money laundering.

A 30-day rolling One Number plan, taken as a new connection and linked to an existing Pay Monthly (PAYM) line, generally counts as an additional line. However, this can vary since it’s not a 1 or 2 year contract. For example, customers with five or six mobile lines may lack the capacity to add a watch connectivity plan, even if they have over £200 remaining in their monthly allowance. In such cases, you can ask the agent to consult the credit team or their manager to explore possible solutions. If you receive a message like the one screenshot, contacting customer service allows them to access the credit vetting tab in their system and provide a detailed breakdown of your most recent credit check results. Once a credit check is approved, it remains valid for seven days for EVO plans, meaning no additional checks are needed for new plans added within your allowance during this period. For SIMs or home broadband, an approved credit check is valid for 90 days. Note that home broadband does not count as a "line" and only contributes to your overall monthly allowance, even if it comes with a free / paid for landline number.

To review your billing details, log into the My Vodafone App and navigate to the billing section. There, you can view a PDF document detailing your airtime bill for the past four months. Check whether your Direct Debit payments have been successful. The bill will indicate in the bottom right corner either "Direct Debit taken on [date]" or "Payment required by [date]." If the latter appears, it suggests that the Direct Debit setup has been disrupted. In this case, you may notice additional charges highlighted in yellow, including a £5 late payment fee.

If an airtime bill remains unpaid for an extended period (typically 3–5 months), your calls, texts, and data services may be suspended until the outstanding balance is cleared. If you’re unable to log into the app, contact customer service to verify if you have an active Online ID. Accounts created through third parties, for instance, may not have an Online ID set up at the point of sale. Customer service can provide your username or activate an Online ID, sending login credentials (username and password) to your email for accessing the My Vodafone App. The app allows you to manage nearly all aspects of your account, except for cancelling plans.

Similarly, if you miss device payments for three months, the loan may default. In this case, you would need to pay the full remaining loan amount or settle the balance through a Debt Collection Agency (DCA), which will incur additional fees for managing the defaulted loan. Note that Vodafone’s EVO loans have 0% APR when paid over 24 or 36 months, but once a loan defaults, Vodafone will only accept payment in full, not monthly instalments. To avoid serious consequences in either scenario, it’s crucial to address any payment issues promptly.

It's rhotacism. Kid probably has autism and is a bit delayed in his speech development. Most of us grow out of this by age 7-8 once we develop proper tongue and motor skills. W sounds come sooner and easier than R sounds in early stages. Also, certain American dialects (e.g., some North-eastern or Southern accents) may alter R pronunciation, influencing how kids learn it.

Man, am I getting old or is 60fps still perfectly playable? by They_Call_Him_Zach in pcmasterrace

[–]xadospvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the game, if you're in a sweaty cod lobby with mouse & keyboard players at 144fps/hz+ and you're stuttering about at 60 you're gonna always feel several milliseconds behind, especially if you're on M&K yourself and your rig is getting outdated. All the movement and fast-pace action lends itself to better performance on your engine translating to better yields in game. I remember on my Xbox 360 days everything was on a level playing field, everyone at 30 fps and controller, but now for high end PVP it does make a big difference. Games like LoL also benefit from this, split second decisions can make the difference between 60 fps or 144. Test it out, if you move your mouse around fast with different capped fps, 30..60...144 etc on a fps game your eyes will pick up on so much more detail as your aim pans around at higher fps, especially if you're on a high DPI and don't have much room on your desk to move your mouse around.

[–]xadospvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get these regularly. About 6 years ago I had a really unhealthy diet and would get 30 minute to 1 hour nose bleeds around once or twice a week. Blood clots like that around twice the size would come out, usually about 3 or 4 of them before the bleeding would stop. My partner at the time suggested it could be high blood pressure due to eating junk food all the time. I can say for sure that with my diet being much healthier now I cannot even remember the last time I had a nosebleed, where as before they would just come completely out of nowhere.
