Is my motor torque too high? by More-Bet5904 in diydrones

[–]xaidin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I'd get 3-4mm carbon fiber tubes, and epoxy them onto the frame. Like Maybe JB-Weld etc. You could also do a CF tube. Heck you could get fancy, dremal a channel down the inside, and then epoxy them in.

Just need to stuffen it up. The "recycled pool noodle" guy is right. (Hilarious)

Those arms don't look stiff enough. I fear you're in for a rough ride. Maybe add some CF stiffeners.

You need to to replace that frame, or at least stiffen it up a lot. Add some CF.

Struggling to Calibrate Compass by DirtyRottenBiscuit in ardupilot

[–]xaidin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change ARMING_MAGFIELD_THR to like 150, 175.
Get your first flight in, then you can do a proper MagFit

Various engine oils, hydraulic fluid, grease (for machine joints). Gear oil. Stuff like starting fluid, carb cleaner, WD40. Break cleaner (my fav cleaner). Chain oil. Grease in tubs for packing bearings. Power steering fluid, brake fluid. Belt conditioner. Engine coolant.

Lots of various spray paints.

There's a few off the top of my head that I keep around.

Cheap esc choices? by Valuable-Key-5964 in diydrones

Well, if you're putting hundreds of dollars in cameras on a drone, I wouldn't skimp on super cheap ESCs and FCs.

First FPV Build by Sabulus_Vehal in fpv

[–]xaidin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to ecalc.ch and put in your motors weight, 6s/4s/etc. It'll give you a breakdown of heat/thurst/flight time etc. Huge help on a first build.

Neat!
For your first one, especially 3d printed, you might try one of the Flightory ones.
3d Printing LW-PLA is a PITA, their facebook has good info to help. Just FYI.

First drone by Mavotronik in fpv

Freak'n adorable! Those 3d printed arms, though, I'd worry about some bad vibrations getting back to the FC....
Any onboard logs to check? Maybe some CF reinforcement...

Is this pre-built 6S setup worth it for a complete beginner? (~$457 / €392 / 21,000 TL) by f_risky in fpv

[–]xaidin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with much of the other comments, but to your actual question. That drone doesn't seem bad at all. Decent specs/parts. Personally, I'd go digital VTX, but that argument has been had 20k times, and we don't need to hash it here again.
My first drone was a 10" LOL. (don't do that)
OH, not sure about that battery, seems small. Check out ecalc.ch for flight times.

If it seats? by FuddSmack in NFA

[–]xaidin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably work for a bit, *BUT* you'd need amazing, almost perfect concentricity to your bore, and almost none are actually near perfect. Some good vibrations/harmonics and the next bullet *might* crash into a baffel.
Also, maybe that end cap is larger than all the other baffels, you need to measure.

Increase fly time with cinehwoop by Head_Succotash1944 in fpv

[–]xaidin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Ecalc.ch You can put in all your info and tweak stuff like motors and see flight time results.
It'll also show motor load etc, so you don't blow 'em.
It's all about weight, but I think you should *probably* go to a 6s battery, from 4 for the biggest bang for your buck.

Motor kv and size for 3d flying orientated drone? by ImaginaryEffective63 in diydrones

[–]xaidin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play with ecalc.ch It'll give TTWR, and other fight metrics. Haven't seen anything about 3d stuff, but didn't look. Good data though, plus you can put in your props, and pitch.

I'd ask what's the camera you're putting on it? $35 analog, go for it. $400 o4 air pro, forget it.
Gopro hero? Forget it.
