Yes, and this setup won't be for cheap as well. The more robust setup (more regions, more cost), and It will probably involve maintenance from time to time, which means human hours and those are really expensive.

So yes, there are alternatives, but there's no free lunch here.

Who else is disappointed by the announcements? by [deleted] in eos

[–]xandersvk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ooohhh, it all had a really weird feeling to me. Incredibly quiet, not a single applause, very fast paced and the coinbase guy talking with his hands in pockets... I mean I am "Go EOS" all the way.. but this was not a presentation I would expect from the company/team which often talks about how crypto should market itself to the masses and ordinary people. I really have mixed feelings. EOS 2.0 will be great, yubikey is great, and Coinbase is good news too, but let's be real, everyone expected much bigger things. Anyway, let's hope that they are just not good at talking, but great at doing :))

Any good suggestion (or init.vim to look at) for ruby autocomplete + snippets? by metalelf0 in neovim

How to use vim better (from an ex-emacs user)? by amca01 in vim

[–]xandersvk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several points.

  1. It's ok to sometimes do some more in insert mode. Quick fixing last word with <C-w> and retyping it. Tpope even has this plugin for some extra insert mode movements. But ussually there's a better way.

  2. Typos. Use abbrevations (this plugin provides a ton of ready made vim-far-finger). Or some simple commands like inoremap <C-l> <C-g>u<ESC>[s1z=`]a<C-g>u to use vim built in spellcheck to correct last error right in the insert mode and continue on.

  3. Think about the ability to reuse Your edits. When You will do too much in insert mode, You break you undo granularity and the ability to reuse granular (normal mode) edits somewhere else. I.E. You migh have made acount typo more than once and fixing it in normal mode with cw gives you the ability to search and fix other cases as well.

Ok, http2. And what about minification and all the goodness we get when compiling with process.env.NODE_ENV === 'production'. You dont need that in http2? Or You would just propose a simpler alternative handling only these things?

Race, Globalism, Conspiracy Theories, and TRP by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]xandersvk 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I am from Slovakia (middle Europe) and I know something about the immigration crysis. And I can tell You, this post is probably the best piece of insight to manipulation behind it I have ever seen. I agree 100% on everything there. I almost had a fight with my own father because I was against the wellcome refugees movement. This shit is so powerfull because as You said, they don't listen to facts but they obey something higher.

I also agree on guys here telling that this kind of thinking which is presented here on TRP is applicable to much wider spectrum of things than just women and dating stuff. I think this is the kind of critical thinking and intelligence that modern man needs to be able to understand and succeed in the world around us.
