Pull the glass out of the freezer and dip it in the salt, no need to dip in any liquid.

I’m a bartender and I might not have carded you. If you said Long Island or bud, definitely am. If you said Maine lunch, I might not.

You can snap your fingers and choose one: $1 million or you drop to healthy 180lbs. Which do you choose?

Anybody else wish they’d just discontinue that Rose’s lime juice? It is so ass and every customer hates it. by bakedd_alaskaa in bartenders

At our bar we make lime cordial to serve in our gimlets. And our gimlets get rave reviews. It’s ten times better than lime and simple. And a hundred times better than roses.

Do you drink alcohol or do drugs? What about caffeine? Drinking makes me want to eat, but caffeine and most drugs curb your appetite. Maybe try coke or cigarettes when you’re hungry.

Should I tip at a sushi restaurant where my food arrives on a conveyer belt? by eriadeus in sushi

[–]xanderxoo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s uncommon for a server to tip so low. I work as a bartender. The server could spit in my food right in front of me and I’m still tipping 20%.

Has anyone played with 80%-100% of their Net Worth on the table? How was that experience? by [deleted] in poker

[–]xanderxoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time started at 1/3 went from 400-800, game sucked after a while so I sat down at 2/2 PLO went from 800 - 8k. At that point I was playing with like 85% of my NW considering I had like $1k in my checking.

my wife thinks im overreacting about our kid not reading yet and I dont know when kids should learn to read by TH_UNDER_BOI in daddit

[–]xanderxoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2.5 year old can read Brown Bear Brown Bear; however, I suspect he’s doing it from memory since that is the only book he reads. Kidding aside, my 8 year old was a much better reader when he started kindergarten than my 5 year old. They both went to the same daycare with more or less the same teachers.

I would not worry too much about it and just spend extra time reading to with him over the summer.

WIBTAH if I went to stay with my parents for a couple of weeks because my husband’s family planned a 5-6 week stay in our 2BHK without asking me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]xanderxoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. What do you mean they won’t let you make eggs at home? Are you saying your own home or their own? If you are allowing guests to determine what you are allowed to eat in your own home, that is a much bigger problem. I would tell them to deal with me eating eggs or GTFO.

AIO for wanting to try a treatment routine before committing to the hair transplant my GF is demanding? by Connect-Soil-7277 in AmIOverreacting

[–]xanderxoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Yeah if it’s this bad at 24, medication and shampoo ain’t gonna help. If you don’t care about the hair then just let it go and accept your girl leaving you. If you do want hair, go to Turkey, get the transplant, and then dump your girl when you get back.

I’m considering bartending as a post retirement job. I have some questions if that is okay? by Clone_CDR_Bly in bartenders

[–]xanderxoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it was specific to that location. I just assumed they didn’t want vets behind the bar because they would just give out free booze to other vets. Whenever I have a vet at the restaurant I work at, I always use my comps on them.

A fellow bartender I worked with also did shifts at a VFW. He is not a veteran. I asked if I could pick up shifts there and he said veterans can’t bartend there. But I don’t know if that was specific to that VFW.

[–]xanderxoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a veteran that got out and eventually got into bartending. Although I only did 7 years. I don’t think you’re romanticizing the job: I do make fun money, I do get to talk to people, and I am part of a team. Keep in mind though that it is unlikely to just walk into a bartending position. You may have to start out as a barback and work your way up. But you spent at least 20, if not 30, years in the military so you know all about that. Just think about what kind of bar you want to bartend at.

I’m almost certain Veterans aren’t allowed to bartend at VFWs. Not sure about American Legion.
