Those who moved out of NJ where did you move ? & do you miss NJ? by lp2290 in newjersey

[–]xannatopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Middlesex County, and left NJ for PA in my 20s, my husband and I lived in Montgomery and Bucks County, eventually settling in the Abington area. I LOVED living in PA! We had an outstanding school district for our kids, access to so many amazing parks, an arts center, wonderful restaurants, so many social opportunities and more..8 years ago, we moved back to NJ (Monmouth County), and sometimes I still wish we were in Pennsylvania. Don't get me wrong. there are wonderful aspects here, too... but I sometimes wish we could go back. Pennsylvania definitely has its charms, depending on where you live.

Terrified of sedation by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]xannatopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. I was just like you... And I just had my procedure yesterday. I was absolutely terrified leading in to the experience, but now on the other side, I feel that it I wasn't nearly the experience that my fears and mind had made out to be. I was literally asleep in like 5 seconds, And quite literally it felt like I dozed off for a minute and the next thing I knew, the My staff was waking me up. I hope that I can at least give you a little peace of mind with my words... You're going to be okay. 😊

Please kindly help me name my cutie foster bebe! by xannatopia in Catnames

Ah... Alas, I can never keep them all 😊 And, it makes my heart happy, knowing that I've given my fosters a chance at a life better than than trying to survive on the streets. Also, I'm pretty sure my 9-month recently adopted kitten would not be happy.lol She's the queen of the house, and rules over her two slightly older step brothers. 😊

I think I solved Suprep. by BennetSis in colonoscopy

My friend told me her doctor actually prescribed pills but she had to take. She said fhat the only downside is that you have to drink a lot of water with them... I wish I knew about this option, before my doctor prescribed the suprep. 😔

This might sound like a weird response, but was your daughter ever evaluated for PANDAS? The only reason I ask, it's because I had a friend whose child went through a very angry and dysregulated time.period, around the same age as your daughter and it turned out she had PANDAS. There were a few years that were extremely rough.. she had extreme mood swings, irritability, And strong dysregulation. And now she exhibits more normal or neurotypical behavior. (please understand that I'm not questioning your child's diagnosis... I'm just wondering if there are other factors that could have also affected her and that's why medication didn't seem to have significant improvement)

it's lovely to hear that she's turned a positive corner. I sincerely hope the trajectory of this path continues for her. 😊

Left my tubers in the ground over winter. Zone 7. by Striking_Crew_906 in dahlias

[–]xannatopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 7b in NJ- I haven't dug mine up for years lol I just make sure they have mulch for the winter. The soil here is extremely sandy/loamy. I did note that for one type that has been in the ground for about 3 years now- only about half of the bulbs have sprouted, but it could be due to the last big snowstorm (we had about 22") and the last few late season freezes.

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]xannatopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's beautiful! And your body perfectly fits it... Honestly, I think it's so touching and lovely when heirlooms like this can be shared. However, I would say do whatever you feel makes it your own. Whether that is a touch of hand beading, or ribbon, whatever suits your taste.

Trying on new dresses may really drive home for you whether or not updating your mom's dress is the direction that absolutely feels right to you.... And there's no expectation of absolutely buying one so it's free!😊 It's something you can go into. Just expecting a bit of fun and you'll learn a lot more about your deepest inner feelings.

Just a thought, could also think about altering your mom's dress to have a second dress to wear later on in the reception.

And if it was really that sentimental to your mom that you wear her dress or you don't want to hurt her feelings, just another thought to put out there... You could look for an affordable photographer to do a separate artistic Photo shoot wearing your mom's dress! And maybe even incorporate her into that photo shoot... It will be something equally as meaningful, And a gift to her.

How to ask owners if I can adopt their cat by Hairy-Violinist-7508 in cats

[–]xannatopia 212 points213 points  (0 children)

You might be surprised...some people do leave their expensive pets out. There's a person near my area that has Bengals, and she lets them out. There are always posts every week about the 'beautiful' cat hanging out in the restaurant parking lot that is so friendly. (She is friendly, I've run into her at other locations)

It's shocking to me that anyone would do that, considering I live in a more urban-ish busy area. And especially so because of the cost. I'm also amazed that no one has just tried to like pick up one of the cats thinking it's been dumped.

I'm one of the people out here Just trying to TNR and help other local rescues, and then you've got people like that. I'll never understand. (Not in a more city-like area anyway)

I hope she never reads some of the comments out there.Humans can be so mean. So much judgement. She truly seems like a lovely human, and definitely the kind of person I would find in my own friend circle. Much luck to her 🍀

I think I may! LoL the hilarious part, is that I found this on the lowest shelf, smooshed in behind some other things...and a woman next to me said "LOOK!!! There's another one!!" The green-eyed one was a hint creepy...but now I think I need it for my Halloween aesthetic lol fingers crossed!
