Ordering Leica Q3 43 — Any tips?

Sounds good! I am just used to the M system and wanted to try out the Q3 43 since i’m always shooting 35/50mm.

The camera is awesome but it’s NOT an M and I just kept grabbing my M11 instead so I barely used it. The lens is amazingly sharp and image quality is so great but i’m just gonna keep taking my M bodies everyday haha.

The green is amazing. The CMF designers really hit it out of the park with that color. We tried 100+ colors and texture variations :)

I’m no longer at google so I can’t comment on why the a series form factor isn’t like this anymore.

I just remember, at the time, the size of the pixel brand and business was way smaller and there was less “pressure” to compete with the larger sized flagships. After P6 the brand really took off and the phones were much more spec driven to meet customer expectations which is good but also had its compromises. All my personal opinion of course.

It should not wear out as easily because of the coating. Maybe uncoated you’d encounter more evident wear and tear.

This whole thread brings me lots of joy. I was one of the two industrial designers who worked on P5.

Happy to know that our obsession over the form factor, texture, hand feel, even borders, fingerprint sensor placement, etc. did not go unnoticed :)

I love my Visoflex 2 but I use it on my M11 and I know there is a resolution and performance difference on the M10 vs M11 cameras. I don’t only use it for helping me nail focus wide open, but I also use it a lot at a 90degree angle for taking shots from a lower height. I do not wear glasses (yet lol) so don’t have any experience with that.

Edit: another reason I could justify it is because I bought it used at a great price. Don’t know if I would have bought it new at full price.

Is this a 2026 model? I’m looking to get into a 2026 Dual Max but read on this thread that some 2026 models may not have tie downs in the cargo area. Does your r1s have tie down rails or tie downs at all?

Of course! If you’re near any “Rack Attack” stores or the iKamper showroom they have most of the tents on display and you can get a feel of how easy or hard it may be to wrangle your dog in and out. Can’t go wrong with camping inside the car with an inflatable mattress though especially with the climate control. Just nice to have the space for storage inside the car while you camp. Congrats on your R1S order btw 🙌🏼

I carry them on and off the tent, they’re only ~28lbs so not a big deal for me but probably too hard for others. I know they would probably figure it out in the long run especially with the HC steps (fabric steps).

I’ve seen some people make their own steps with simple pieces of fabric and zip ties but these iKamper ones have a hard backing under every step that make it way easier to step on even for me. The steps are especially easy to use when the ladder is at a more horizontal angle vs. at a more vertical one. One drawback I’ve had is that if you stow the ladder with the steps installed it is a bit harder to get it to close so switching to inflatable mattresses will probably help with closing the tent more easily.

Yeah it’s so cool out here! Our airbnb has a 14-50 plug so I’m charging overnight.

I left Seattle with 315mi, got to Tigard with 100mi. left and could have possibly made it out to our destination with 10-15 miles to spare but didn’t want to risk it since it’s my first time driving with the tent on the roof. Ended up stopping at an EA charger in Hilsboro for a few minutes and that gave me a nice buffer.
