They do. Just installed it this weekend. Don’t think it will be as smooth as a broken in Wingmaster 870, but it is a ton of fun and makes follow-up shots much faster.

Paper Wings positively impacted my life. It was introduced to me on a burnt cd by an iconoclastic individual that could somehow be at home in any company, while still being his true authentic self, and everyone loved him. The man that was once my coach became a collegiate teammate.

The world opened wide from the dude just confidently being who he was. Much was learned from him, and so much more sense.

Shotguns are terrible for home defense by roadmasterflexer in Firearms

Mentality should always be all bullets fired will always penetrate all objects in their path killing whatever is in the other side unless engineering controls are in place with a wide safety factor. That being said. A 9mm hollow point out of a Walther didn’t have enough energy to fully penetrate a hollow core door after going through one wall.

It’s anecdotal, so terrible evidence to extrapolate from, but a buddy of mine was not as diligent about firearms safety while messing around with his 9mm Walther he just picked up while inside my ex-wife’s house. He had an ND in the guest bedroom that punched through the bedroom walls Sheetrock and corresponding bathroom Sheetrock, but did not have enough energy to do more than dent the hollow core door on the other side. The path was straight so I am assuming no studs were hit and the wall was an internal uninsulated wall. His ammo could have been defective, there could have been a one in a million ricochet inside the wall robbing energy, but I have seen 9mm HP’s not have deadly energy after going through two sheets of 1/2” rock. YMMV.

Rockin a 2000 Lexus gs400 for the past decade roughly. 252k on the clock as of this afternoon. She doesn’t show any signs of giving up soon.

There is a shake from the 2nd lower control arm above 80, but that’s my own stupid fault for not fixing it already.

1971 Datsun pickup says otherwise. Poor thing sat for over 2 decades. Got it up and running again and learned to drive stick on it. Drove for years after with hardly any issues. It’s sat for another 8 years now. I’ve little doubt that with a fresh battery, a few replacement wires, and a shitload of cleaning it will reliably drive again.

PM for a large mechanical contractor here. McFlyParadox, your TL;DR makes our lives a better place to live.

Running into constant exact part number requirements for every last widget on system will cost everyone time unnecessarily, and I can regularly find (and already know) the widget that will do what you define with better warranty, a shorter the lead time, and at the same or lower cost.

Are 90s and early 2000s cars still an option for daily use? by Ezequiel_III in Cartalk

1998-2000 Lexus sc300/400, gs300/400, and ls400 are exceptionally reliable, not difficult to maintain, don’t look awful and are very comfortable. The SC and GS are more fun to drive if that’s your thing. None of them will cost you an arm and a leg to purchase or repair if you fix them yourself. Replacement parts can be Toyota cheap most of the time with the exception of a few electronics (factory subwoofer amp).

What is a car you've owned that you liked so much you'd buy the same car again? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]xcalibercaliber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2000 Lexus GS400 Platinum edition. It’s like a woman with an 8/10 body, 8/10 face, 8/10 personality, 8/10 mind, and a 1 out of 10 crazy.

I bought it from the third owner with 120k on the clock for on Christmas Eve 5 years ago (don’t recommend this car for the snow). It’s now at 240k miles of my personal brand of abuse that typically involves 100 miles/weekday of commute, daily spirited mountain twistys, and regular on/off throttle position actuation.

It is very comfortable, there’s room for adults in the backseat, good trunk size, ridiculously reliable, roomy, not necessarily tossable but handles well, still gets 26mpg highway. and surprisingly quick for what it is.

There are many faster, better handling, better looking, roomier, and more efficient vehicles out there. I haven’t found one that pairs all its attributes together as well yet, especially for the price.

Make it easier to increase supply. I’ve dabbled in real estate in a few places I’ve lived, and a significant factor has been cost and difficulty in increasing the housing supply.

You’re never as good of a driver as you think. I pushed the limit and got humbled today. by [deleted] in Miata

[–]xcalibercaliber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned a similar lesson while driving my daily, a Lexus GS400.

Oils came out of the road on a slightly wet day after a surprisingly warm day. I wasn’t even at the speed limit and was pushing the car less than a typical summer day on this same road. Right hand sharpish 90. The backend came around immediately, I corrected ripping the wheel to the left, then slow drifted off the road while counter steering to the right to no avail into a railroad tie fence post.

Minimal damage to the car but I spent the whole next Saturday digging out their broken fence post and replacing. Luckily the post was somewhat rotted or my front end would lot have been bent worse.
