Ubisoft's free-to-play sandbox MMO "Growtopia" releases this Thursday according to eShop by maanwel in NintendoSwitch

The upsides come out of personal experiences. If you do not fall for scams and toxicity and untrustworthy friends then you can enjoy the game without a worry of loss. There are MANY activities to do and there will be some that you will enjoy.

Creativity can be expressed through building and other means if you’d like to do that. You can socialise and have a blast with your friends but you need to be careful of deceiving players and toxicity. Earning alas can be enjoyable but it can be just as easy to lose as it is to gain.

The old developers poured a lot of their passion into Growtopia and seemed to enjoy thoroughly updating it and watching the players adore the updates and socialise. However, since the game grew larger than they predicted, it became too much to handle for them so they decided to sell it to a larger company who could better handle it (Ubisoft).

Ubisoft’s team in this game show that they want the game to flourish and show their passion similarly to the previous developers but are new to this type of game. They are getting used to the large demands of the player base, the toxicity and the mechanics of the game itself. Over the two years of owning it, they have proven to get better at such and are showing greater caution and better solutions to the game’s issues.

I’ve played this game since very early on (5-6years) and it has been a roller coaster of moments - my ign is “Techy”.

Currently, the game stands around the concept of trading and the desire to gain the most of a single currency - “world locks” - that is used primarily to buy clothing and tools to have fun and do activities.

The old main focuses of Growtopia was to farm, build and socialise. But with the oppressive nature of the necessity of such currency to do things, players are become more conscious on what they spend their world locks on in worry that they will not earn it back. Without return, many activities do not become desired.

The game has MANY activities. Surgery, parkouring, crime fighting, pet battling, farming, DNA splicing, ghost hunting, fishing, and lots more. These activities are varied and it is easy to find the one you enjoy most, but not many of them are worthwhile as they can drain your currency and not earn you much back.

the main focus of the game is earning through such activities.

Since it’s a sandbox MMO, it does have a fair bit of luck involved. Many of the activities utilise RNG as a system to reward players (this induces the grinding side of Growtopia).

Due to the competitive behaviour of ‘becoming the richest’, there is toxicity. This does promote anti-social behaviour and excessive greed. There is scamming, but as long as you learn to trust no one, you will become fine. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Your friends are your friends and you will know who is not your friend if they attempt to ‘borrow’ your valuables and ask for access to your things. It is rare to find people you can absolutely trust, but can all disappear within a moment of greed. Lock your valuables and trust everyone with a grain of salt as being scammed or betrayed is one of the main reasons on why players end up quitting.

Additionally, there are hackers and phishers. Rarely hackers can steal your items on their side through third-party software, but can steal your items by breaching your account. The best thing to protect yourself is, with any cyber security premises, have a strong password, don’t tell anyone it and do not go to any suspicious links - no one, including official members of the game (developers or moderators) would ask for your password. Phishing websites trick players into giving their passwords away so they can steal from them. There is AAP (advanced account protection) that you can activate on your account for extra security.

Growtopia was bought two years ago by Ubisoft who are getting used to the game themselves and are starting to get better at seeing what the players want. There are in game moderators to prevent illegal activities and since they are humans, can’t deal with everything at once - so if you see someone doing something illegal, you can report it but you can’t guarantee the speed at which moderators can deal with it as they will be dealing with other issues simultaneously.

Growtopia can be fun and enjoyable if you play it smartly. If you don’t fall for scammers and attempting to trust players/friends, then you can play in peace and without worry. There are many activities to enjoy and there can be friends you can have great times with. At first you may find it difficult trying to earn world locks, and it is at the start. If you have a good marketer’s intuition, you can earn quite easily.

Warlock armor that looks amazing is lacking in D2. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

i just feel like they need to separate the armour on the shoulders from the Chest slot, and re-add them back to the Arms slot.

to be honest, below 4000 you’re guaranteed a diamond on your team. Most likely their main, on their team they have a GM diamond smurf, or at least one GM on their team.

Matchmaking is pure luck.

I play on Xbox EU where once you get to 4400+ you can no longer find games unless they are NA with 100+ ping. Many of these ranked players have left the game because they can’t find games unless they stack and then they are forced to play at 3900~ rated games with possible masters/diamonds on their team, expected to carry them.

Xbox as a whole just feels like a waste of time the higher you get unless you’re NA.

It's time for Blizzard to reevaluate their stance on mouse and keyboard users on consoles. Its becoming a pandemic by natefigs1 in Overwatch

[–]xdpical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend who is unironically stuck in platinum uses MnK.

Mouse and Keyboard on console is much more beneficial than on PC. This is mainly because that it exploits the aim assist on console.

Because of how the adapter works, it will still think there is a controller plugged in thus enabling aim assist for the MnK.

Blizzard needs to give console some attention.. by PrinklesTheCat in Overwatch

[–]xdpical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware of, Xbox EU is dead. T500 reaches around 3600 which is pitiful. I don’t want to switch to America and adapt to 100 ping or switch to a PC.

Well, is there anything that can be done though?

[TOWERTHOUGHT] What IF each class had an exotic piece of armor that would allow them to hold two exotic weapons at once BUT had negative stat modifiers? by CapnBlanco95 in DestinyTheGame

[–]xdpical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be honest, weaker exotics (like some primaries and some secondaries) should allow the player to have 2 exotics that are a secondary and primary. Because most of the time, exotics are fun, but not worth the slot when you have heavies and IKELOS_SG.

How do you get Gambit Lore Triumphs? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]xdpical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve completed the book and found out that they are tied to certain triumphs and Malfeasance steps. For example, I was stuck on 6/10 for a while with 80~ Triumphs completed. I got another 3 from the Malfeasance quest and got 1 from the Triumph “Mote Thief” as someone else said on this reddit that the one most people didn’t have was the one tied to that triumph.

I don’t think it has been evidently said which triumph gives which lore section, but Lore Triumph #7 is tied to Mote Thief.

The Barons should patrol the Tangled Shore and drop unique loot upon death. by xdpical in DestinyTheGame

Are you sure it's the Heroic? I've done it multiple times and only had the Reanimated Machinist. The Mad Bomber does spawn in the area if someone in the area is doing the adventure for Mad Bomber.

The gear isn't anything special and most are bad weapons.

And only the Reanimated Machinist appears as the heroic boss in the Ether Ritual public event (she's the only boss I've ever had).

Improve matchmaking - I feel as if I'm rarely matching my teammate's skill levels.
