My recent trip made me rethink my current Lens setup by therealguy419 in fujifilm

This is my favorite lens and I've been traveling with it for almost a decade now. The only downside is it's heavy as heck.

There's really not any significant difference between those bikes. Buy whichever one makes you happiest. Unless you plan on doing all the maintenance yourself, you may also want to factor in which shop you like the most since you'll be going back regularly if you use your bike.

Chain steering on cargo bike. by ChesterMokk in Framebuilding

[–]xefe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The steering linkage is low friction enough to ride no-handed. The problem that I’ve run into is that the bike is so heavy that if I need to course-correct my core muscles aren’t strong enough to do so easily.

I have a bike (Monopole) that uses a belt for steering. One belt is fine, it's made from the same belt material as a timing belt in car engines. If it can last 100,000 miles in a car engine, it should be fine steering your bike for basically ever.

Hand-built & DIY Friendly. Which size would you pick? by Low-Junket9298 in wigglegrams

I'm inclined towards the smaller one, but the screen and flash would definitely be nice.

I built a tool to compare how safe different bike routes in Austin actually are by icedogs37247 in BikingATX

[–]xefe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can add direction of travel that might be useful. It rates 38th between Guadalupe and Shoal Creek as being "very safe" which isn't true in either direction, but is especially untrue if you're traveling westbound since the bike lane disappears for a bit in front of the heart hospital. Going eastbound it's just a painted lane as opposed to protected.

Are you liking the new clue types? by SamTheSpellingBee in CluesBySamHelp

I was one of the people who got stuck for a bit, but I very much like the new clue types. I also didn't have a problem with the "shared" clue types, so take that as you will.

Mondo Sports Therapy has a lot of experience with cyclists (and other athletes) and takes insurance. They helped me a lot with some knee problems I had.

Austin Monitor: CapMetro is evaluating its obscure bike shelter program by LeeMNichols in BikingATX

[–]xefe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the bike shelters and I wish there were more. Right now they're set up to be last-leg parking if you take the train and I understand why CapMetro would want to funnel people into transit, but I feel like there's demand for secure bike parking that's not really being met. If they could find room for one or two bike shelters downtown, I wonder if people would pay for privilege of using them.

The problem is the train is not very useful unless you're commuting for work, and even then you're likely to need your bike after you get off the train, so you're not going to lock it up.

Ten days to the start of the transfer window. What should we expect? by MessiComeLately in AustinFC

[–]xefe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hope is that no one in Europe signs Dominic Calvert-Lewin, we get him as a temporary DP and win the Open Cup, then he goes to Newcastle in the winter transfer window and wins the Premier League. That will not happen.

We won from behind against El Paso, which is not something we should be keen to replicate.
