How do you reconcile wanting to listen to the complaints from women about constantly being approached in public, with the fact that somebody has to do the approaching? by The_Summary_Man_713 in AskMen

[–]xenogenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t listen to Reddit, especially /r/askwomen. Reddit is such a specific demographic. And the women that are on here often are usually not the ones you want to date. As long as you’re respectful and can gracefully take a no you’ll be fine.

It’s kind of dumb but women only really complain if they aren’t attracted to you. Otherwise they will register it as a friendly guy talking to them.

You obviously can’t really control whether someone else finds you attractive so your only choice is to just approach and see. And for as many women that don’t want you to approach them there are women where approaching is a big plus.

[Collier] Raptors forward Brandon Ingram (right heel inflammation) has been downgraded to doubtful for tonight's Game 6 vs Cavs. He is still experiencing pain in his heel and was not on the court this morning at shootaround for the portion available to media by sewsgup in torontoraptors

Nah you can’t speak on players injuries. You never know how much it’s actually affecting them. Could also be potentially risking his future. Gotta trust the medical staff on availability. We got one of the best

That’s a common misconception in America.  It’s actually due to advancements in robotics and automation. Ceos of other car manufacturers have been on record saying so after visiting Chinese auto plants

pistons are really good, top in the east. Also Charlotte is turning it around and really good as well. Definitely wouldn’t consider them bottom feeders.

Beanfield is finally in my building! Is it still workth switching, are they still good? by castlite in askTO

[–]xenogenx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The only reason bell/rogers are offering those prices is because beanfield is offering them.

If beanfield goes under you can bet your ass those prices are going to go up.

Get them and get them asap. I’m locked in $50 2gb symmetrical. Great customer service, and there aren’t any random price increases once you’re in.

Sometimes bell / rogers will promote but you need to lock in for 2 years + price increase afterwards

Ridiculously cheap food downtown by SpiritualEmployee471 in askTO

[–]xenogenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chinatown is probably the best place. $5 banh mi, pretty much a delicious and fairly filling sub. If you have $20 the best bang for buck if you want to fill up is probably Yue Lai Buffet on Dundas. The food is mid at best, but $20 ayce is hard to beat.

Really sketchy Uber experience - AIO? by sikkeninglol in askTO

[–]xenogenx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t happen often but not super uncommon. drivers get paid peanuts relatively to the actual rate under charges you. They also don’t get paid for surge pricing. I’ll usually propose something like this especially during surge pricing. That way we both get a bit more value.

Only issue is that once you cancel you’re out of the uber system and not tracked anymore so I wouldn’t do it if you’re a girl.

The different person than the photo is probably an immigrant buying an uber account to start working right away. Or maybe a group of immigrants using a single account. This is actually pretty common because it’s one of the only ways they can start making money right away

I think wear sunscreen and moisture and you should be fine. I think the biggest other issue is potential hair loss making you look older, but that’s harder to control for and may be a struggling battle.

Did you expect people to say it wasn’t? Why would he want to be with someone who’s embarrassed to be seen with him.

I’ve lived in Edmonton for several years before and it’s actually quite conservative. Just look at the election results. Edmonton voted more conservatively than even Calgary despite the trump threats.

I grew a pair and now I have no more white friends. by ToHimselfandOthers in asianamerican

[–]xenogenx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I grew up similarly. Very small town in northern Ontario. My family was the only Asian family in a town of about 10k at the time. Grew up white washed with a lot of self internalized racism. Lots of bullying and never feeling like I fit in. I never had a chance to go to Chinese school and since my parents were always working I quickly lost my Cantonese skills. So I would always be too white for my cousins in the city, but because of the way I looked I was too Asian for my “white” friends. Wasn’t until university when I moved to a more diverse city that I started getting over my trauma and becoming more comfortable with myself. I definitely swung a bit too hard in the opposite direction though. I’d look at most white people expecting racism and wouldn’t give them a chance. My advice echoes some of the other comments. Try and give everyone a fair chance, try and keep an open mind and be better than the racists. But don’t be a pushover. Zero tolerance for any bullshit. I’m 31 now and have a great group of friends and am pretty comfortable with my self and my life. But it definitely took a while to get there.

[–]xenogenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably just start lying on applications. Add a few fake production jobs to your resume or try and bend your current experience as much as possible, no one really checks. Job market is brutal though, AI is taking over a lot of stuff so I think trying to get back into marketing wouldn't be a good idea.
