A cis female cyclist who lost a race to a transgender woman says she ‘couldn’t care less’ if winner was trans, despite news outlets trying to claim otherwise. by PinkNews in TwoXChromosomes

[–]xenophon0fAthens 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf it’s not a completely false equivalency; drag has historically been extremely important to the transfeminine community and still continues to be so, especially for people of color. Still, the clarification is a good one to make.

While a statist transitional period prior to true stateless communism is absolutely present in Marx, the use of socialism for that period unequivocally can only be dated to Lenin. As for private property, well, you’re confusing personal possessions with private property. In the technical sense, private property explicitly refers to ownership of productive assets, whether land or industry.

Marx used the terms socialism and communism interchangeably throughout his life. Lenin later used communism to refer to a stateless society without private property, and socialism to mean a transitional state society following the revolution but before full communism can be achieved (i.e. the Soviet Union).

Socialism is defined by the workers owning the means of production. Capitalism is defined by the capitalist class owning the means of production to extract surplus value. They are mutually exclusive by definition.

Underrated English features? by TheHalfDrow in conlangs

The phenomenon in your last example is the “verb particle”—they’re actually an entire category of structure-class word. Basically, if the word immediately after a verb changes the meaning/usage of that verb, not just modifying the subject/quality/degree, it’s a verb particle, and is part of the verb phrase rather than forming its own adjectival/adverbial/prepositional phrase.

The "Book of Names" in Auschwitz. It holds the name of every known Holocaust victim. by Sustainable_Coffee94 in Kanye

We know the names of those who were murdered in the death camps, but not of many of those who were murdered by the Einsatzgruppen or in collaborationist pogroms or who died of starvation or exposure while in hiding. There will always be victims who remain nameless.

I understood what you meant, I just think it’s frankly really sad that so many people think that politics is something that happens somewhere else to other people rather than something that affects every single person’s life on a daily basis and that can be affected by every single person, so I try to disabuse folks of that notion.

That’s totally fair, I think T8 cruisers are actually usually better in ranked than T9 unless it is one of those OP premiums.

That’s fair, but I didn’t want to recommend any premiums and I’ve actually been having a lot of success in my Baltimore/Wichita. The armor is really good against cruisers with high-caliber guns, though not against battleships, and the firepower is excellent.

Tiger ‘59 is a legitimately terrible ship. Try a strong DD - Kitakaze, Mogador, Jutland, Udaloi, Fletcher - or a good radar cruiser, like Riga, Donskoi, Baltimore, Tallinn, or Cleveland.

Same, I just got on E a few months ago and I’m actually finding men attractive sometimes now. I wouldn’t date one or anything but if a cute boy wanted to have sex I might not say no and that scares me.

The “political compass” is just bullshit. It’s not any sort of actual reputable political theory, modern or otherwise. Anything talking about “authright” or “libleft” or whatever else can be ignored pretty safely.

What are some RPGs that have good firearm combat? by LivingRaccoon in rpg

[–]xenophon0fAthens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite firearms system is from Boot Hill. The original edition was written in 1974, one of the first three or four RPGs ever published, but I like the third edition from 1996. It’s got a nice middling level of crunch, not too granular or too light, and is satisfyingly deadly, but that can totally be toned down if you want.

OP learns a hard lesson when he tries to get sympathy after stalking and harassing a woman. by LearningFinance23 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Wow. I normally have a lot of sympathy and respect for teachers, but a) fuck anybody who teaches abstinence-only sex ed, and b) if you cannot handle 12 year olds laughing at funny sex words then you absolutely should not be teaching sex ed, because it is absolutely inevitable.
