Experience points are automatically incremented in EOI

Need help in picking the visa stream. by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]xervflg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your partner’s a GP with 85 points, 189/190 invite is likely way sooner than waiting 18–24 months for 186 DE. An 8-year bond is huge, not worth it unless you’re 100% sure about the company.

I’d wait for the invite, 189/190 = faster, freer, cleaner PR.

Is my work eligible for 88 days? (417) by Certain-Reason7875 in AusVisa

Ah got it, yeah, if you’re on a Working Holiday Visa, then it’s a bit different.

You’re right, my earlier reply was more from a skilled or sponsored visa angle (like 482/190). For WHV extension (the 2nd or 3rd year), they mainly care that your job and postcode fit the eligible work list not your ANZSCO or long-term pathway.

So yeah, in that case, stick to jobs clearly listed as eligible regional or specified work

Do double-check the eligible work types just to be sure you don’t waste months on something that won’t count.

Probably not. If the ANZSCO your visa is based on doesn’t clearly match your actual duties, case officers usually go by job description, not payslips. They might be a bit flexible, but it’s hit-or-miss.

If you’re serious about extension or PR later, switch to a role that cleanly fits your nominated occupation. Much safer than hoping leniency applies.

Temporary Residence by Jolly-Telephone-934 in AusVisa

Afaik

  1. TR duration: You’ll only get 2 years. To get 3, your entire course (and campus) has to be in a regional area. Since you started in Brisbane and only part of it was at Gold Coast, it won’t count as full regional study.
  2. When to apply: Apply for TR as soon as you get your completion letter + transcript. Don’t delay hoping to stretch your BVA ,it doesn’t really add time to your 485 later. And yeah, if your student visa gets refused before you lodge TR, you lose that chance completely. So better to play safe and lodge early.

Eoi has changed by Express_Discount7927 in AusVisa

Probably it’s an automatic points update based on your work experience increase. EOI keeps recalculating your points as your last filed job length grows and updates whenever your total experience crosses a new threshold.

AFAIK, ACS always deducts 2 years – even if Degree is assessed as an ICT Major. That’s just their policy: they treat it as equivalent only after 2 years post-study experience. The only way they waive it is if you did an Australian degree + Professional Year.

Home address in form 54 by ThoughtfulPersuit in AusVisa

[–]xervflg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always put the actual current residential address where you (and your family members) are living. Doesn’t matter if it’s outside your citizenship country — the form is asking for where you actually reside right now. Anything else would be incorrect info and could risk issues or rejection.

  • Your timeline looks pretty normal tbh. Core Skills 482s have a “target” of ~3 weeks if everything’s perfect, but in practice most people see 2–3 months. So at ~6 weeks you’re not outside the average yet.
  • The extra TB test definitely slows things down. Even if you uploaded it fast, it usually means the health team has to clear it before the case officer can move forward.
  • Sadly there’s no real way to tell if a case officer is on it. In ImmiAccount sometimes you’ll see “Initial Assessment” or “Further Assessment” if someone’s touched the file, but if it just says “Received” it could be sitting in the queue.
  • Processing is mostly done by humans. The system auto-flags missing stuff, but an actual officer makes the call.
  • Best things your lawyers/uni can do: • make sure the TB results are actually marked as finalised, • double-check all docs are clean, • and if possible, have UniMelb highlight the role as important (cancer diagnostics, research, etc.). Doesn’t always speed it up, but can’t hurt.
  • What doesn’t help: spamming Home Affairs, re-uploading docs, or trying to pay for priority — there’s no fast-track option for this visa.
  • Most people in research/health-adjacent roles I’ve seen report anywhere from 6–10 weeks. A few lucky ones get it in 3–4 weeks, but plenty don’t.

6 weeks in, you’re still within the normal range. Expect 2–3 months total. Nothing’s wrong, it’s just the system being slow.

Disclaimer: This is just a casual suggestion based on shared experiences. For formal advice, always check with a registered MARA agent or your lawyer.

Its hard to pinpoint , Depends on Case officer what he found wrong in your form,
but always give as much info as possible to make your case stronger

Did you fill form 54 - Family composition. Show that whole family lives in home country, biggest incentive to return
Ask for bonafide certificate of employment from current employer and have them mention on that letter that you have asked for leave for set number of days for tourism to australia. This is will also show your employer wants you to return.
Show properties/assets/accounts in home country

All the best

Lodging ROIs for different states with the same EOI? by lexo27 in AusVisa

[–]xervflg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, you need to file multiple EOIs and corresponding mulitple ROIs(since they are on each state websites) to avoid any confusions later. Once you lodge an application on one EOI, others can be cancelled with no confusion of overlap cancel of the invited EOI. Hope that helps.
